  1. Great review. What gorgeous girls/young ladies Georgia and Scarlett are. They are so lucky that you are able to take them away on such lovely holidays. When I was their age (admittedly 50+ years ago) it was an annual 2 week holiday in August to either Wales or Cornwall (still got very happy memories of them tho).
  2. The Olive Grove was only bookable once on board /in terminal a few weeks ago on Iona.
  3. Good morning. Currently 19c here and due to rise to 27c. Just about to walk Freddie and there’ll be no afternoon walk for him with the heat today. I cleaned my lounge and hall carpets yesterday (I use a Vax compact power cleaner). The results were pleasing but the waste water was a disgusting colour!! Thanks to the warmth they were dry within a couple of hours. Restful day for us today. Gill x
  4. I totally agree that some guides go at a ridiculous pace especially in crowded places (I can think of Rome and Pompeii as examples). However on the flip side I have also been on tours where the activity level is advertised as “high” and then a few people have booked onto the tour with poor mobility and can only proceed slowly and so therefore we don’t get to see and do everything that was advertised as we have had to keep stopping……
  5. I cannot help much I’m afraid, but I’m guessing you were guaranteed an LF as the minimum grade of cabin and that you maybe didn’t say no to an upgrade, as I note that D195 is one grade up (KA) and therefore considered a better cabin (altho I agree it wouldn’t be in my mind). Please let us know how you get on and I wish you luck.
  6. Freddie got fed up so pulled everything off the clothes line 🤣
  7. Carlos was amazing. As much as I am not a fan of Djokovic I thought he accepted his defeat very graciously.
  8. Re CPS. The instructions will be on your booking confirmation and the narrative is as follows… “Subject to availability, Your booking includes complimentary car parking in Southampton. In order to secure your space please contact Cruise & Passenger Services Ltd on 0345 071 3939 or via www.cruiseparking.co.uk” you can normally book within 48hrs and I suggest doing asap as places are limited.
  9. Freddie also likes a carrot. Cucumber is another favourite treat and he’s recently discovered he loves watermelon 🍉
  10. I have also just read on BBC website that Kate is due to attend the Men’s final tomorrow.
  11. On Iona last month they offered me extra chilli sauce….
  12. @Peanut006 wishing your Mum a truly fabulous 90th birthday…..🎉🎂🎁🎊🎈
  13. Thank you for your review. Aurora is a wonderful ship and your enthusiasm for her shone through. I’m so pleased you had such a great cruise. Where next?
  14. I booked the week on Iona. If the weather had been better it would have been lovely but it was breezy and cool most days (apart from Haugesund). The crew are lovely there, the beds comfortable and I loved the hot chocolate. I did not use the hot tubs. I only had lunch up there once and wasn’t impressed (prepackaged prawn salad two days running). I think in school holidays it would be worth it, not so sure at other times.
  15. Hi @sagaris - On @Adawn47 recommendation I bought the Omron wrist monitor (I got the RS1 model). I find it much more comfortable than the arm cuff ones.
  16. Ha ha. Years ago our clothes smelt of cigarette smoke from nearby smokers when in a restaurant. Now it’s the smell of fat from steak on lava stones - how times have changed! 🤣🤣😮‍💨
  17. @Beckett yes, I also have a postal vote and for the first time ever, I really dithered about my vote as all parties have something in their manifestos that I disagree with (not that I’ve read them all, just bullet points). In the end I went for the candidate that I thought would best represent my area. I will have the tv on to watch the results roll in, but the end result is not going to be a surprise! @P&O SUE - goodness, what stress you must be under, but the home sound like a great support to you and your Mum. @grapau27 - great news that life is good for your Sarah. I shall be watching all the Brits playing at Wimbledon today and I’m pretty sure that in a couple of matches the Brits will win! Gill x
  18. Imodium is always packed (altho only one packet 🤣) along with headache tablets and indigestion tablets 🤣. All eventualities covered!
  19. Yes I take a couple of masks on a cruise - just in case!
  20. I ate in Sindhu on Iona a few weeks ago. The menu was different to Aurora and imo, not as good, but I still enjoyed it very much. I got the 20% off. I also ate in the Beach House and had the fajitas which were absolutely yummy. I like the lava steak but 10oz is far too big and I wish they did a smaller option.
  21. Good morning. A sunny start here, but as the window cleaner is coming later, I suspect rain may be on its way! Have a good day.
  22. My two pence worth is that I have no problem with the concept (especially on the family ships) but I do wish people wouldn’t use plastic ones…..
