  1. Emailed a request in today and it was added 38 minutes later.
  2. This is true. I tend to think people on Princess don[t drink as much as people on Carnival. Bonus on Princess - they still serve Coke products. Carnival Corp truly has cruise lines for everyone. The latest rant about Princess is that they cut out some included for all services (like the Premium pizzeria) and moved them to the packages. Also raised the package prices. Helps slow the increase in cruise prices and encourages sales of packages. NCL likes to sell cruises early for more money and then drop the prices after final payment to sell cabins, if needed. Carnival prefers to fill cabins earlier. Sometimes NCL really gouges (IMO) on shore excursions (hence a shore excursion credit). For example: https://www.ncl.com/shore-excursions/ICY_13/Scenic-Mountain-Ascent-World-s-Largest-ZipRider https://www.carnival.com/shore-excursions/icy-strait-point/skyglider--world-s-largest-ziprider-701011 It isn't casino offers vs normal customers. It is more like targeted casino offers in advance vs steeply discounted cruises for all as the cruise nears. It is all an illusion. I think everyone should try other cruise lines. I know I have. Carnival certainly wasn't my first cruise line.
  3. People demanding lower prices are a reason behind cuts in services to accommodate the consumer. A la carte pricing will cost more than bundling. All cruise lines sell illusions and marketing departments help them. There is never one size fits all. Princess and Carnival are owned by the same corporation. These are universal truths.
  4. The French side, St Martin has the clothing optional beaches if that is of interest, although there is at least one on the Dutch side. You can also find some great liquor prices. I think of Cozumel as the 51st State, but it has some beautiful water and reefs. Taxis night be most plentiful in Cozumel and they all take kickbacks from the beach clubs to recommend one over another. Amber Cove, Mahogany Bay, Costa Maya, and where Carnival docks in Cozumel are reasonably secure port areas.
  5. The NCL cruise is Oct 2 for a GTY and almost none of the not so "Free" stuff NCL tricks people with. I don't see availability for Carnival Spirit this year and Carnival (or Royal or Princess or...) doesn't offer October Alaska cruises. NCL obviously has excess capacity with an end of season sale on cabins with a cruise that is really after the season ends.
  6. I've read various degrees of success with that. It isn't 24x7 and there are inevitable delays with relaying. Shore-to-Ship Communication – Emergency Contact Number We do not offer a direct dialing service to our ships. The following number is to be used as an emergency contact number for family members not traveling with our guests. In the event of a true emergency, family may contact our call center at 1-800-227-6482 on Mon - Sun, 7:00am - 12am EST. Our team will take down the caller's name and contact information and pass it on to our Guest Services team onboard.
  7. Closing time should equate to last order taken at time. The kitchen closes when everyone has been served. unless there is a line a closing time. Then last order time is when the last person has been seated and had a chance to order.
  8. You can call FROM the ship for $1.99/minute on the cabin phone or likely for free (in this case) from guest services. It shouldn't cost much to receive messages and then you could call back. Or an email. otherwise https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1139/~/calling-home
  9. I think this is pretty clear: " @JasonM720905 Thanks for joining AARP! Unfortunately, a Canadian phone # cannot be used to verify your Rewards account. Only users within the 50 United States and the District of Columbia are able to participate in the AARP Rewards program. Sometimes, users may hold addresses in different countries which allow them to use a US address/payment method and phone #. I sincerely hope you reconsider and decide to stick with us. Your membership includes a long list of carefully selected discounts, products and services. Have you seen them all? I invite you to explore our site: www.aarp.org/LearnAboutBenefits "
  10. The Journey cruises I have been on have had priority disembarkation. In Long Beach I have kept an eye on the gangway and as soon as I saw people leaving I left too. While others are looking for a shuttle or bus I have jumped in a taxi and gone. But 10:30 is too early. Especially if you have any reason to go by the ticket counter. These days they are cutting off check in earlier and earlier.
  11. There is no problem, just initial confusion. I have no interest in reading 1000s of posts to figure it out. I imagine in the future new Allstate threads will pop up from those who didn't get the memo. But I will know to ignore those, as I have no interest.
  12. On a least one brand (Carnival), they will often give $100 the first week and $150 for the second week as if you were on a 14 day cruise. I might try to see if Princess will go for it.
  13. that's interesting. Carnival Cruises "allows" them. Exemptions and other considerations Ham radios/amateur radio equipment https://www.carnival.com/help?topicid=1202
  14. Many countries have cabotage laws like this. They remain on the books long after many of the industries they are designed to protect have disappeared. Forever and ever.
  15. There are a number of US flagged vessels - Mississippi River cruise ships, for example.
  16. I think in theory up until you reach the next milestone, but I would call.
  17. There are other differences - you have to be a member for Carnival cards, not so for Princess or HAL, the max number of cards is different, etc.
  18. I had to double check - this is the AARP gift card thread.
  19. Recently AARP card cost for Princess increased to $460 for a $500 card. Will the rest also change?
