  1. You can buy all that on Carnival. Carnival simply chooses not to get in a bidding war. And why should they go after customers who change cruise lines depending on who offers the most? MSCs strategy is to poach as many customers from other cruise lines and even Motel 6 as possible. Let them. There are plenty of potential customers out there who have never been on a cruise. Carnival offers a lot you can't get on other cruise lines.
  2. I liked Kohunlich. It is a long drive, but the bus had a bathroom and there were portlets at the entrance. Other than that, I don't recall any facilities, shops, or vendors! You were allowed to climb anything that had steps.
  3. I flat out don't like Royal at any price point. Some people are swayed by bribes and are fickle; some like a brand (or don't) and bribes are irrelevant.
  4. No need for the picture, but thanks. I cooked a turkey not long after the cruise, and overdosed on it. Now the cats are enjoying the leftovers. 🙂 It seems whether I say stuffing or dressing, it is always the other. 🙂 Originally I had planned two nights in the steakhouse, but cancelled wanting to try as much as possible of the new menus. I don't regret that decision. Late seating the the MDR wasn't busy, so always had great service.
  5. Oasis only has about 100,000 more gross tons and a couple of thousand more passengers. At least Venezia is capable of making tender ports.
  6. It is easy enough to obtain cash. If you don't have a debit card, proceed to a slot machine, charge an amount to your account (no fee), cash out to your account and cash out at cashier. Death and taxes are still the only life requirements.
  7. Most people, including me, tip tour people. It's the norm. Nothing gulling about it. Not all excursions are big bucks or even through the ship. I tip those, too.
  8. Sailing from New Orleans is always an attraction. It is better in the Summer when the days are longer.
  9. BTW, I noticed at least 4 people working the pizzeria, and they were pumping them out
  10. The embarkation pizza was well done, but tasty!
  11. We booked a last minute suite at a reasonable price, and it was ready at embarkation. Almost worth the price of admission.
  12. Check in was easy - the security check point was the biggest bottle neck. I did appreciate that everyone had to pass by a K9 dog and all carry on luggage also got a whiff. I didn't smell any pot during the cruise.
  13. Parked as I always do, at the port. Costs more, but too convenient. BTW, Disabled Veterans with proper id can park for free there.
  14. Did a b2b on Regal last November and had no issues with the food other than one time I ordered prime rib medium rare and they brought me an end cut. They offered to replace it, but I wasn't going to let great food go to waste.
  15. I think the cruise contract is clear. I think all cruise lines are the same. I might be careful disputing a credit card charge - you might find yourself banned from Princess. Of course, if you don't care...
  16. The port complex is full of shops, bars, restaurants, pools, etc. Quite the gauntlet/maze to negotiate.
  17. Gratuities were always based on per day, not per service, so no change. We have no problem getting ice twice a day, or other reasonable requests.
  18. Suites are larger, so by definition they are doing more. In my experience, suites are ready when you board, so that is extra.
  19. In my experience it will be open seating for the first night, people seated as they show up. The table you get is the table you get, shared or otherwise. If everyone doesn't show up together, oh well. Expect madness. It's a lot of people who need to be fed in random order. Hopefully some, or many, might like to enjoy dinner in San Francisco? I imagine some exceptions will be made for Grandmothers to show up a few minutes late, but she can look at the menus ahead of time and have some idea of what to order. They (or you) could call the cabin from the MDR when a table is ready.
  20. On the Christmas dinner, I wasn't that hungry and played it too safe. I thought the turkey might have been the usual turkey roll stuff, but that didn't appear to be what I saw on another tables plate. I probably should have tried it. Perhaps I should have tried the Lobster and Crab soup. Don't know if I'll see that again on a menu. I meant to try the Eggnog Cheesecake, but forgot to order it from the different section of the menu. All in all, very impressed with the new menus and looking forward to trying them again on longer cruises. A real winner IMO.
  21. Tonight some hard choices to make and I missed one or two items I meant to get... Oh well. Also picture quality declined. Yep, probably too much cheer. Roasted Pumpkin Soup BLT Wedge Salad Grilled Black Tiger Jumbo Shrimps Classic Bourbon Pecan Pie
  22. I either misplaced or failed to get the Vegan menu for tonight. Perhaps too much Christmas cheer?
