  1. Just a heads up, there is a tv show on prime called Signora Volpe, set in Umbria. I enjoyed it and the gorgeous scenery.
  2. Good day and thanks all, love Brunello but they have jumped in price. The fajitas look great! Happy anniversary, guess you showed them! @summer slope@marshhawk we’ve seen the sand hill cranes flying south, lol!
  3. Good morning and thanks all! Enjoying the photos, food and wine! Not sure if we’ve been to Arhus but we’ve enjoyed Denmark a few times. @StLouisCruisers sorry you’re having a tough time, So hard to know what to do during these challenging times. @smitty34877 prayers for a quick recovery for your DB. @XBGuy giggles, the year DH qualified for seniors over 50 rate was the same year he was carded in Maui, lol!
  4. Good morning and thanks all! We had a grilled cheese earlier this week with fresh basil, yum! Chronic fatigue is no joke, I had a good several years bout of it after radiation treatment. So @rafinmdgive yourself time, and hopefully things will improve. I have to agree with Jacqui, not sure why we pay more for gas and our dollar is down when we produce it? They tell us our dollar drops when oil is low, so now why is it lower? Hmmm… @Cruising-along probably a good idea to test first with so much undetected Covid, wouldn’t want the stress of Covid and Vaccine at the same time. Glad you are having such a lovely cruise! stay safe and enjoy the sunshine!
  5. Good morning and thanks all! A special salute to school nurses and the wonderful secretaries I have worked with. Our schools only had weekly visits from the nurses, sadly. We’ve enjoyed Cornwall on several visits, just not Falmouth. @Cruzin Terri sorry you were unable to go in the church as it has a wonderful Michelangelo but the Bernini elephant is lovely and just around the corner from the Pantheon. We always stay walking distance in this area so no worries about taxis. But always use a marked taxi stand anywhere in Rome. @smitty34877 sending prayers for strength for Tana and your family. @StLouisCruisers sorry to hear of your loss. Appreciate the photos. @kazusending you prayers for strength to deal with all these difficult tasks. Glad you have help for the garden. @Cruising-along hope your friend is ok, good idea to check with your doctor as the efficacy of the vaccines really wanes after a few months. a photo of the Bernini sculpture with the Pantheon in the background.
  6. Thanks, the apples oranges and bananas were muddying the waters, lol! Three currencies and three units of measure, lol!
  7. Such a great problem! Yes have been to the Dolomites, but it was ages ago! We spent one great trip south, to Puglia and Calabria. Highly recommend! We’ve only skimmed the service of Sicily. Many years of exploring, have just made the problem harder, lol! We love some parts of off the beaten path Tuscany and just outside Bologna and Venice. And then there’s the lakes, sigh!
  8. I’m scratching my head, We’re paying about that in Canadian dollars, last week. It was 1.98 per litre for diesel. Gas is 1.639 per litre which is about €1,20 euros. The euro is worth more so it doesn’t make sense that they’re so close in US funds. I may have missed something?
  9. We stayed one place outside Bologna where the cinghiale were in the vineyards, the owner said no problem, papperdelle cinghiale! DH loves it!
  10. Thanks! I’ll check it out! We had the best risotto ever in Ravenna. I love truffles, have truffle salt on my popcorn and scrambled eggs, but nothing is like the fresh, sigh! Our DGD even puts it on her popcorn!lol! Now to decide where to go, Sicily? and Bologna and Tuscany or to just focus on northern Italy? So nice to have this problem even if it gets cancelled, have to live in hope as another Japanese cruise got cancelled.
  11. I do the opposite. I buy tea everywhere, makes a great light souvenir and you may find a new favourite. The French teas are particularly nice!
  12. Ooh, love Gorgonzola! I am now thinking I need to head to Piedmont for risotto. Wow, Stanley Tucci is such an influence, we booked direct flights to Italy yesterday. For truffle season, again!
  13. Good morning and thanks all. @StLouisCruisers thanks for all the photos. It looks very interesting! @dfish I’m amazed by the recipes you find, sweet potato sandwiches, who knew? @kazu love that photo, And the advice to set the bar low, or on the floor. My exciting news, since another cancelled cruise is we booked non stop flights in the fall to Italy. Who knows if we’ll get to go. It will be fun to plan something, fingers crossed. Stay well and don’t sweat the small stuff.
  14. Good morning and thanks all! Happy to see Jacqui posting when she feels able. Thankful for our little supportive community and that we can help support each other through major loss and daily life. We’ve stayed often at Heathrow for this very reason. It’s very easy to visit nearby Windsor by bus or taxi, Or even Winchester cathedral. I love that poem, it helped my mother a lot when my brother died, to the extent both my children had tattoos done of it after she died. Isn’t it lovely that we can have such positive interactions! Agree that when a person is ready this may be helpful. I worked for years with teens who lost parents, and really it is loss that we don’t often talk about. Politics, sex and religion we do, but not grief. Another snow day here! Stay safe everyone!
  15. @Cruzin Terri enjoy Assisi, I too have found it a most wonderfully special place on our visits. Glad you were able to visit Montepulciano and Pienza, we have stayed near there many times. So many special places. Our city now has direct flights to Rome, hope we can take advantage as we never tire of exploring ITALY. Seems unconscionable at that resort! In our country thankfully we still must mask on airplanes. Sadly it’s not over yet. Stay safe!
  16. I have been following a lot of immunologists and the Israeli studies. Recent data show a big improvement in immunity after a fourth dose. As we are in a huge Omicrom spike here I feel safer with, as after three months It really wanes. That follows what the CDC states as well. Our wastewater data is very high right now and are hospitals are very full.
  17. Thanks! Here we can get them after five months, some provinces it’s four. It does seem to make a big difference and since we are in the midst of another huge Omicrom wave we had ours too. i too think there will be another one by fall.
  18. I want to dine with you! Yum! Enjoying your photos! Have been wondering about the stronger reaction with regards to immunity. Thanks for sharing that info, would you have the link?
  19. Hoping they will post on the roll call, I’m curious too and happy to share.
  20. I think Rich missed this one, I did too, lol!
  21. Good morning and thanks all! We’ve been to Tallin twice and I’m enjoying Sandi and Lenda’s photos. I was surprised to find it was famous for pianos, along beautiful hand knit sweaters, room for only one in the luggage. I salute those brave women who’ve given up a child. I was in a room with a young girl who did just that when my DS was born, hard to see her pain, but later fate had my path cross with the child in a very happy adoptive home. @Horizon chaser 1957sorry to hear you caught Covid after all your precautions! @AncientWandererhope you can stay safe and enjoy yourselves @JazzyVwhat a sweet picture, you had a special mom! @HELENPSL welcome, I think we’ve met on a Caribbean cruise as well.
