  1. Good morning and thanks everyone! @Quartzsite Cruiser @Cruising-alonggreat photos,. Our Holy land cruise was cancelled,. Hoping for next year. @cat shepard glad you had an all clear! @Rowsby I’m sorry you had to cancel, but I understand, probably wise. @summer slope have a wonderful birthday! @ger_77 I’m sorry for your loss, you can make very good friendships on cruises. We always celebrate Cowboys here!
  2. Oh I’m so glad you experienced it, if we hadn’t been staying very nearby we wouldn’t have known about it. We bought some of the 25 year old, it is still amazing. And I wear those earrings early every day. We also had the gelato, Isn’t it fun to discover these little hidden gems! Thanks for sharing, here’s a few photos from our visit.
  3. Good morning and thanks again for all the kind wishes. The surgery was more extensive than expected and for some reason the local anaesthesia didn’t work well. I will spare you the details. But thankfully today is much better. Hopefully it is all gone and caught early enough. Our first visit to Kauai had to be cancelled due to a hurricane, The condo had lost its roof, and the island was being powered by a nuclear submarine. We have been back a few times and have enjoyed the beauty of that island. @Quartzsite Cruiser love that little church, one of our DS’s friends is a minister there. It looks heavenly.
  4. Good morning and thanks all for the kind wishes, they are deeply appreciated! We’ll be off shortly. @ger_77 wow on the fish! good luck to your husband, DH takes his BP meds in the morning, so perhaps you could ask re timing? Happy birthday to Craig! And good wishes to all undergoing tests and procedures! Love the strange flavours of crisps aka chips in the UK, I had ordered these for DH
  5. Good morning and thanks all! the Chile verde looks fabulous! Thanks! We enjoyed visiting Malta twice. @Cruising-along we were there in Fall 2019 on the Koningsdam too! A beautiful spot, the first visit our daughter’s friend toured us around on the vintage buses. DH has his surgery tomorrow , praying all will be well.
  6. With the heat, the earlier the better. We’ve enjoyed Princess and Holland America, it really depends on what itinerary you want to see. With a six year old along you may wish to check out best childrens programs, That’s young for Europe and to be away from home. We first took our son when he was seven and it was fine but we geared the trip to the children’s interests. If they’re not happy no one is. What are your interests? What are your must sees? Everyone has different priorities. We like cruising from Rome to Venice or Athens, with stops in the Greek islands. But Mykonos is not our favourite. We prefer Crete or Kefalonia or Corfu as stops.
  7. Good morning and thanks all! That peach sangria sounds great and love the idea of adding corn and beans to the guacamole! And a nice wine! Love the photos of Alaska, we’ve been twice but haven’t been to Kodiak. Prayers for quick recovery for all those dealing with Covid. @TiogaCruiser sorry for your adventures, seems sadly the new normal with flying! @Vict0riann lovely photo, glad you made it safe and sound. Wise advise about the turmeric, my oncologist was fine with me adding the spice to any food but not the pills. Everything has side effects and it’s a balancing act for sure, so yes best to check with your doctor. we are recovering from intense heat with rain today, thankfully.
  8. Ooh, I’m sure the Japanese literature was interesting. I agree Japan will be one of the last. We had two more cruises booked there, one that was cancelled and another we think will be as well. The Greek islands are another of our favourites, I studied classics in my first degree.
  9. I hope you get clear skies too! We were very blessed and even saw Fuji San at sunset on our flight the first day.
  10. You are most welcome. Japan is simply amazing, I hope you can go one day. Of course I’m glad for your news, and wish everyone would do the right thing, it would sure help with the spread. Our son did the same thing and stayed home until he tested negative. As there are so many dealing with this nasty disease and I do not wish to miss anyone I thought it best to refrain from naming individuals as I don’t wish to hurt anyone’s feelings if I accidentally omit someone. I truly hope that this is in our rear view mirror sooner than later, but alas I’m not hopeful. all the best.
  11. Toronto’s Pearson airport and Air Canada has been one of the worst if not the worst in the world recently with cancellations, lost luggage and stranded passengers. then Rogers, one of our three main telecoms went down for over a day, so people had no cellular service including emergency coverage as well.
  12. Thank you! The mock orange lasts only about two weeks, but it’s worth it. I just planted it last year after smelling a neighbour’s. In the bottom photo, pale pink and white is a single peony, I don’t know the variety as we bought our house many years ago from a real gardener who had some unusual varieties.
  13. Good morning and thanks all! Sorry so many are dealing with Covid and it’s aftereffects, stay safe all. @Vict0riann glad you found the luggage, just ordered apple air tags! @crazyforcats happy anniversary @kazu wow an over 10 feet monkshood, Amazing! Love that the birds are nesting. @angelcat sorry to hear about your brothers car. Shimizu was our first port of call in Japan, we visited a beautiful temple, saw the tea plantation’s and beautiful Fuji San. The temple
  14. @erewhon thanks! The one on the left is yarrow or achillea, it also comes in pink, The right one is a mock orange bush that smells divine and will get huge. @kazu Fun to see different gardens, your monkshood looks bionic!
  15. Eek,. We’re not quite that bad. As DS says we’re in the worst of summer mosquitos and now cougars 👀 Exactly! We’re not so frozen right now, except for the ice cream, I had two crazy local flavours yesterday, a strawberry jammy rhubarb, and prairie fairy, a blackberry and raspberry beer sorbet. I know you like ice cream.
  16. Good morning and thanks all! The wine and dinner both look great, but we’re under a heat warning so it will be fresh sockeye on the BBQ @marshhawk sending prayers for a good outcome for your DH Loving the gardens right now!
  17. Good morning and thanks all! Didn’t know we had a respect Canada day, eh.. Sorry to hear even more Covid, hope they will be mild. @Vict0riann thank goodness for those apple tags, hope it arrives soon. We loved .Copenhagen, @dfishbon voyage @0106 great photos, I have some Basque heritage so found it interesting. I also used to teach .English so loved your explanation, I think we never know how much we miss something until it’s gone. @kazu a lovely prize! @ottahand7 gorgeous garden
  18. We find that area very convenient
  19. We visited Canada’s highest paved mountain pass today, still a little snow even though it was over 30 at home
  20. @HAL Sailer love the story of Doris, so wonderful you were able to travel with your mom. @Seasick Sailor Happy birthday to your DH Allen! @Quartzsite Cruiserappreciate your posts and hope you get to Meteora one day @Sharon in AZI love tofu, especially in Japan, they serve it with a ginger sauce, Delicious. @kazu appreciate your ever helpfulness in teaching re posting photos, multiquotes and use of @ instead of multiple posts and not over sharing re toes 😉 it takes a little longer to post, but IMO it helps with the flow hope you can get to Meteora again on a clear day. @smitty34877 you made me giggle! Love beach photos @Horizon chaser 1957congratulations on your win! Score! @aliaschiefgood work on the clothes, you will be all set! a second language is always a great idea, I met DH in French class! How lovely! looks great! Thanks for stepping up! thanks to all who make this such a great place, and the effort spent on posting photos of the ports. I don’t want to miss anyone, so will just say thanks to all.
  21. Thanks Sandi, even with overnight we didn’t have quite as much time as I’d have liked, I think if possible go for two nights. It was amazing watching them at sunset. I think that wine barrel might be big enough for the daily 🤷‍♀️ @Cruising-along I can’t believe that skylight 👀😱
  22. Good morning and thanks all! I have a lot of respect for sharks, The movie Jaws did it for me, lol. I don’t like two faced people either, particular those who pretend to be nice then….. I much prefer straightforward people. We’ve visited Athens many times, so I will post photos from Meteora where we visited last cruise as we had an overnight in Athens, so that allowed us to visit and stay overnight. We often do different things if we’ve visited a port more than once. Sandi, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Buddy, my deepest condolences to you and your family. @Heartgrove sorry to hear your news. @HAL Sailer glad to hear some good news. @aliaschief for Norway we found having a good goretex jacket, along with light Merino wool layers worked really well. We were blessed with good weather, but that combo is light and works as well in Ireland, Japan etc along with a light pack able down vest or jacket.
  23. Good morning and thanks all. Nice to see so many dailyites enjoying the beach! We’ve been to Monaco twice, once by ship and once by train. Thanks for the photos Sandi and Kay. And Lenda! @kb4683oh my goodness, the prices of that beer, must be for those who can afford the Ferrari’s. It can be a different world, We once got invited to a yacht party just over the border on the Italian Riviera, thought we’d fallen down the rabbit hole. JFK’s yacht was there. @dfish thanks so much for all the things I learn, what an interesting ice cream. @cat shepard that wine sounds lovely. finally summer. Some photos from the regatta in Imperia, Italy.
