  1. You've assumed correctly. It may be a minute or so after 8:00pm
  2. Come on over and join the Roll Call for this cruise. We could use some activity...
  3. No, the word prime is not used to describe the rib eye on the menu. See previously posted menu.
  4. Here's another article by BUSINESS INSIDER...
  5. We disembarked the Sky on November 30th. Below is the laundry form we used onboard which shows dry cleaning as available. Chemicals are still used but are not as harsh to people and environment as those previously employed.
  6. Our experience is that balcony cleaning doesn't take all day. However, although cleaning an individual balcony might take ten minutes, it will be unusable much longer. We sailed on Viking Sky this fall for eight weeks and balconies were cleaned once each week between 8:00am and noon. Balcony dividers were opened to give access to crew and allow a hose to be pulled through. Our balcony was effectively unusable as everything was waterlogged for a few hours along with crew walking back and forth.
  7. Beautiful ship...excellent photos! Thank you...
  8. Here's a review of the Grandeur by The POINTS GUY...
  9. We thought the Parmigiana di Polo was excellent. We were on the Sky for 55 days this fall from Rome to Fort Lauderdale and shared the dish many times since the serving was quite large. Ossobuco was on the menu in The Restaurant during our cruise.
  10. That's disappointing for sure. We sailed on Splendor for 32 days last winter and never heard a thing from our neighbors. We'll be on Grandeur during January and February in the same numbered suite so we'll be able to compare apples to apples. Hoping for the same quiet we previously experienced.
  11. @rcandkc... It appears you responded to quoted text. It's best to add your reply to the message you quote outside and below the quote box. If you add your response within the quote box, readers do not know where the quote ends and your response begins. 🙂
  12. We're well, Don & Diana...thank you for asking...hope you are also. The 18-Day Maiden Venetian Passage on the Royal was truly an excellent cruise! Can you believe it has been ten years? Magical is certainly the best description of our sail away out of Venice...with Andrea Bocelli singing Time To Say Goodbye...can't be beat! We were fortunate to experience that more than once, but sadly mo more.. Enjoy your time in Umbria and Tuscany and your cruise out of Civitavecchia...
  13. I could very well be wrong, but having never seen a private vehicle being driven within the port, I'm guessing it's not allowed. My suggestion would be to hire a limo from Rome directly to the cruise terminal or a taxi if you were to stay in Civitavecchia the night before embarkation. In either case you would turn in your rental the day before.
  14. Stick with Celebrity! We have done 50+ Princess cruises and for a number of reasons we won't do another one.
  15. My suggestion would be to monitor each other's flights with free apps such at FlightView or FlightAware. Each would require Wi-Fi or cell service. If either is delayed, you won't want to spend time waiting in the baggage claim area. I'd much rather wait in the cafeteria as suggested by @euro cruiser.
  16. Personally we like to stay in the area roughly bordered by the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. Hotel Lancelot is 2.4km from the Pantheon...a 35 minute walk. There are two lodgings named Little Queen Pantheon near the Pantheon. One is at Campo de' Fiori, 5, the other at Via del Collegio Capranica, 4. Both are much closer to the Pantheon.
  17. We're doing a B2B out of Southampton next fall and thought we'd add three nights to the one provided by Regent at InterContinental London Park Lane. After crunching the numbers we decided to do the pre-cruise stay on our own. We're staying in a very nice hotel in the West End close to shows and Covent Garden plus arranged a transfer to Southampton on our own and still came out ahead by about £800 vs adding three nights to our stay at the InterContinental.
  18. We're on the Sky TA right now in a PV1 with a slider. We find it easy to keep the door open with a cushion on the track or Bungie cord. What we find annoying is those with fixed doors allowing their door to slam when exciting or entering. A little consideration would be welcome.
  19. Thank you for the heads-up, @smokeykat. We had a 10% discount for our October 2024 booking which I rebooked with the 20% discount.
  20. Beautiful weather so far...69° at 3:00pm. Only 735 onboard...
  21. @Ruthieofthesea is setting one up on the current Sky TA. You might want to post your question over on that roll call.
  22. Viking Saturn arrives in Pireaus on November 21st, so you should be able to check its dock location using Marine Traffic the day before you embark. Enjoy your cruise...
  23. My DW and I are currently sailing on our first Viking Ocean cruise on the Sky. We embarked in Civitavecchia on October 6th and will disembark in Fort Lauderdale on November 30h. We have sailed on about 65 cruises on various lines. Our most recent experience before our current cruise was on Regent Splendor for 32 days in January and February of this year. The two lines are more similar than different. Some noticeable differences... Excursions: Viking offers one, sometimes two, included excursions in each port. Regent offers many more included excursions plus some requiring payment. Buffet: The World Cafe's buffet offers much more than the one in Regent's La Veranda. We sometimes enjoy dining casually in shorts after a day off the ship...most of the time we can't do that on Regent. Suite layout: Our room category on Viking is comparable to that on Regent. Although the interior square footage is about the same, Regent's balcony is much larger with much better furniture, including a large table for dining. Regent's bathroom is much larger with two sinks, a shower, and tub. There's also a large walkin closet. Although there is plenty of drawer space on Sky, closet space is much smaller. Laundry: Professional laundry service is free on Regent while available for a fee on Viking. Both offer self-service laundries. Entertainment: Regent provided excellent evening entertainment with only a few repeated performances over 32 nights, including off-ship entertainers. In a little over 16 days, entertainment on the Sky has been reduced to repeated on-ship entertainment. There was some excellent off-ship entertainment during the first week, but that has sadly disappeared. Alcoholic beverages: All Included except for super high end on Regent; Viking requires purchase of an upgraded package for coctails and better wines. Room service will provide a full bottle of wine or liquor for in-room use upon request at no charge. Both lines are excellent...we're enjoying our Med cruise very much.
