  1. Hello---our only Regent cruise has been on Explorer for the Baltic back in July 2019. We were in a Concierge D cabin (779). We were very happy with it--no complaints. We're now booked on Splendor for a transatlantic in November. We selected what I believe was the last available Concierge E (667). I did see a brief review in the SuiteGuru section. It looks like it's directly above the spa. Hoping it will be nice and quiet. Any comments positive or negative? Thanks very much.
  2. Thanks. I will add that while in an Uber on our way to TPA a rep from Viking air called to inform us of yet another change. We did already know about that one since we do know to always have all the applicable airline apps on our phones to monitor any changes and also track luggage. Thanks again.
  3. We were on an Athens to Athens Viking Ocean cruise last Nov/Dec. We used Viking's custom air to fly Tampa to Frankfurt to Athens and Athens to Frankfurt back to Tampa. I don't know what happened with those flights but Viking automatically rerouted us no less than 3 times on the day of departure. We ended up going Tampa to Newark to Zurich to Athens (Zurich to Athens was on Air Bosnia or something like that.) Coming back it was Athens to Frankfurt, Frankfurt to Dulles and Dulles to Tampa. Very long days and there were some ticketing issues both ways but Viking got us there and back without us doing anything. That said, as others have stressed----be prepared to act on your own.
  4. Thanks much slidebite---very helpful. We're going from Barcelona to Miami to avoid the time change issues you mentioned.
  5. Thank you red1head. What was your impression of United's business class? Which hotel did you use in Barcelona and was your room available upon arrival? Hope you're enjoying your trip!
  6. Hello----I know this is a lot to ask but hopeful someone has one and can post a Passages for a sea day showing activities on ship during a transatlantic crossing. It would be a big help as we make a decision. I imagine there would be a trivia offering but in the past I've heard some passengers can be crazy competitive which would make us lose interest. Thanks very much for any replies.
  7. Thanks. No, we don't have to fly Delta. We simply prefer it. However I perfectly understand your point. I guess our main goal is to have business class with hopefully only one connection and we'd prefer to arrive in Barcelona no later than noon. Thanks for checking on the United flights.
  8. Hello--anyone have any luck using Custom Air to fly from Atlanta to Barcelona (we'd be starting out of Tampa) on Delta. It would be one way as it's for a transatlantic crossing. We will do practically anything to avoid JFK (although we had to earlier this month to get to Dublin. It's as bad as ever, including us having to change terminals which required us to go through security twice after arriving from Tampa). Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.
  9. Thanks very much. We're looking at the Splendor sailing November 20, 2023 Barcelona/Miami in c Concierge suite.
  10. Hello----I'm certain this has been answered before but the search function has never worked well for me. We've been on a 10 day Explorer Baltic cruise on Regent and loved it (precovid). Last November/December we were on a 10 day Greek Islands Viking Ocean cruise and liked it but would much rather go with Regent again. We're looking at a 14 day transatlantic Barcelona/Miami embarking this November. Can anyone advise what the charge is for the initial deposit? Thanks very much for any replies.
  11. On Viking Sky 11-26 to 12-6-22 they did Abba, Beatles and Dancing Under the Stars. We found them all enjoyable enough. However, while watching Dancing Under the Stars I was simply sitting in the chair (not tipping it back or doing anything unusual) and the left side of the chair fell off, the whole chair collapsed and I ended up on the floor. Luckily no injuries. The next day they did sent some macarons and called to make sure I was ok.
  12. We came home yesterday after being on the Viking Sky for 10 days. Greek Odyssey. Around about day 4 we noticed multiple people--men and women arriving in The Restaurant and lounges after 6pm dressed in all sorts or denim jeans and many of the men in shirts without collars. We had previously seen several of the people earlier in the cruise wearing clothes at night in accordance with Viking's recommendations so I don't think it was a matter of misdirected luggage. None of the staff at the host/hostess stand seemed to say anything to them, just seated them promptly.
  13. Are the minibar contents complimentary in the Penthouse Junior Suites?
  14. I tried to do a search on this but the search function on this site never seems to work for me so sorry if this has been addressed multiple times: How about collared Polo type shirts for men in the restaurants for dinner as well as the theatre/lounges in the evening? Thanks.
  15. Has anyone heard directly from a rep at Viking that the pre-embarkation testing requirement has been dropped? I see it's no longer specified for Greece in MVJ. Thanks.
  16. Not sure if anyone has posted this update. From Travel & Leisure: Canada will lift all of its COVID-19 travel restrictions on Oct. 1. The country will no longer require travelers to show proof of vaccination, testing, or to submit health information via Canada's ArriveCan app, officials announced in a press conference on Monday.
  17. We booked with a travel agent, Viking was running a promotion with $500 shipboard credit per cabin which we used to pay for excursions.
  18. Hello---based on the Viking website there are fore and aft Explorer Suites and they appear to be different sizes---one of them has more square footage than the other. Is that accurate? Is one of them preferable to the other? Thanks very much.
