  1. Being you're a couple nearing fifty, perhaps a look at Virgin Voyages would be something to consider. Enjoy your cruise whichever line you choose. Cheers
  2. Yes, you're right, I forgot to mention that you can share it like the coffee card. We did share it on the Med cruise. Thanks for mentioning this. Cheers!
  3. We were on the Wonder in October and would like to suggest to you is the Solarium Bistro as another option for dinner. The food was fresh and hot and although not as much variety as WJ it still had a nice selection. Smaller crowds there than the WJ. Hope that helps, cheers!
  4. We had the 10 punch drink card on the Brillance back in 2017(about 6 years ago). It was a 12 night cruise in the Mediterrean. The card was available for purchase on the second day of the cruise for $75 plus gratuities. From what I am reading on this thread, it seems they are only making it available towards the end of the cruise instead of one or two days after embarkation if they are making them available at all. With Mrs. Cheesepleese and I enjoying a drink not necessarily every day it made sense to get a drink card to spread out over most of the length of the cruise. We are not big drinkers so a drink package would be a waste of money for us. If they are only making it available with a couple to three days left, I have to wonder for ourselves if it makes sense then to purchase it if you have to knock them back in that short of time frame. Just my thoughts, cheers!
  5. Looking forward to reading your thoughts on your first cruise. Enjoy the Icon and being on the ocean!
  6. We are going on Wonder in October and purchased the coffee card. Still the same price when we went on the Brilliance for the Mediterrean in 2017. I remember Princess had the same price for their coffee card as well.
  7. On one cruise years ago, in the mdr when they told us they were out of half and half , I asked for a bowl of vanilla ice cream and would take a good spoonful and melt it in my coffee. Not quite like half and half, but a good substitute.
  8. Ah jeez, I love my half and half with my coffee and we are going on the Wonder in October, guess I'm going to have to get a big a** suitcase to sneak a jersey cow onboard!
  9. Smoked salmon is one of my favorite items, glad to see it still offered. We are booked for the Wonder in October and in the morning for a brekky delight I like to put a good smear of herb and garlic cream cheese on a bagel and top it with lots of smoked salmon. A good way to start the day Cheers.
  10. Hi, when we make our final payment, we get our TA include the gratuities so we don't have to think about them on the cruise as we are happily gaining weight sampling all the delicious food! :))
  11. We have always filled our water bottles in the bathroom sink faucet and then put them in the mini fridge to cool for a couple of hours. Cheers
  12. Hi, one thing I would do for sure is go to Barcelona at least 3 days before your cruise. We did that in 2017 and just fell in love with the city. There is so much historical sights and culture to explore. Became one of our favorite cities. The farm/food market over by Las Ramblas was so neat to browse through. You won't regret going 3 days or more to Barcelona. And we noticed it was a very clean city. Hope this helps.Cheers, enjoy your cruise!
  13. Just want to say thank you for your informative and very entertaining review! Made me want to pack bags and hop on a cruise, but dammit, I gotta get a knee replacement operation first. Coming soon though, so maybe the better half and I can plan one maybe next winter if everything goes well. We were on the Oasis back in 2012 and really enjoyed it, amazed by the size of the boat and despite it being a sold out cruise there was still so much space it was not hard to find a quiet spot for yourself. We also did the Allure as well and even though we have done a number of cruises on different lines we still maintain that Allure and Oasis are still our two favorite ships to sail on. For now until my knee gets fixed will just have to,, well,, just sigh while I'm reading brochures and pictures and reviews. Cheers and keep on cruising!
  14. Sometimes just watching the peoples behavior during breakfast or lunch in the Windjammer can be quite entertaining.
  15. Very entertaining review! Looking forward to the rest of it. Thank you!
  16. Would those sleeper rooms be also known as couchettes?
  17. Wishing everyone in US a happy thanksgiving from Canada! Cheers!
  18. Hi When I am on a cruise ship for the first time I start looking at all the food choices to figure out where to start my inevitable weight gain journey!
  19. Our first cruise took place in April 2010 on the Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas. It was a 5 day in the Bahamas. Maybe because of the age and state of the ship it left us feeling we could care less if we went on another cruise anytime soon. Friends of ours talked us into joining them on the Allure of the Seas less than year later in January 2011 for a 7 day cruise. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Even though it was a sold out sailing what amazed us was that with the size of the ship you did not run into 5500 people! Always found areas on the boat that we had to ourselves, the solarium was a great place to hang out. Our balcony stateroom was so nice and the balcony spacious. Although we have done different cruises with different cruise lines since we still agree the Allure is still our favorite ship. Cheers!
  20. Just saw the video and thinking to myself, jeez, no wonder cruise lines have staffing issues. Who the hell wants to work on a ship for the pay they get and have to deal with that level of stupidity from passengers!
  21. We really enjoyed both the Allure and Oasis. What struck us is both cruises we went on were sold out sailings and yet it felt like we were not running into five thousand plus people. Plenty of space and was not hard to find a quiet spot to yourself. Cheers
