  1. Im sure we could all see this coming. I use to wear a coat and tie when I first started cruising, then several cruises later went down to a shirt and tie and the last few, I wore dockers and a golf type shirt. I still dont think its appropriate to wear shorts in the MDR, but that's my opinion.

  2. Ive had CP balcony twice and I felt that when the ship was moving, there was a slight breeze, but when in port, it could get a bit hot. It was nice and quiet though.

We also had Boardwalk balcony and it was more breezy per se, but it was also allot more noisy. So, if you dont mind the noise, go Boardwalk if your concerned with the heat. Also, you can see the ocean from the Boardwalk balconies too which is nice.

The ONLY thing I didnt like about either CP or Boardwalk is that there are other balconies straight across form you, so if you like sitting out in your undies, people will see you.... LOL !!

  3. Next Sunday will be the first time that my husband and I fly the night before our 4 day cruise on Enchantment (I know we always "gamble" and fly in early the morning of embarking). We have a rental car until Monday afternoon and are starying at Country Inn at Port Canaveral. What time is a good time on Monday to return the car and take Budget's shuttle to the ship to board? What's the earliest you can board the ship (we are platinum). Trying to avoid the most busiest times to return the rental.

maybe try and get to the port around 11.... They usually start boarding D and D+ then so you should be right behind.

  4. We will be cruising the Oasis next May. It will be our first time on this class of ship and I am a bit concerned about overcrowding and finding "our spot". Specifically, I like to relax and read up on deck, but in an area of shade and some sun, but not too much wind. I also prefer an area that is quiet and not overcrowded.

Is there any such place on the Oasis. Have any of you discovered areas that enjoy a mix of sun and shade but are not overcrowded or noisy? If so, can you please share?

    Thanks.

Try and get a Balcony.... sun and shade usually pretty quiet too...;)

  5. It's the southern caribbean cruise. San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Aruba, Curacao.

I've not been to Aruba or Cuacao so would be open to suggestions in the lines of Shopping/Sight Seeing.

St. Thomas I've been on a cruise to just not RCI so I know the Cable Car is a good choice and I know there is shopping at the Havenport dock but RCI can't tell me what dock we are going to I've asked them a few times now they are not sure and have been unable to get the information. If I knew that I could atleast know what's around the dock and how far it is. Like the Havenport dock I know is a 5-10 min ride by taxi to downtown shopping.

St. Kitt's I know has a Senic Rail tour which I would like to do again but RCI again can't tell me anything even though it's on their own website http://www.royalcaribbean.com/shoreExcursions/product/detail/view.do?sourcePage=shorexByPort&ProductCode=KT39&DestinationCode=

No point in using their website since only works about 10% of the time. Either I can't login because "Your reservation is being modified" or when I am able to nothing seems to work. Again asking them for help get's me know where, all I get is "What excursion do you want to book" and I ask about them and in return get "Sorry I don't know anything about them".

It all just makes me want to scream.

Although I dont totally agree with all your comments, I do feel that the CSR's should know more than they do about certain things. I have had CSR's talk with me about excursions and ships...etc and I also had CSR that didnt know squat. I book the cruises on the phone with them or while on the ship. I have also learned allot from Cruise Critic and by asking questions on here. I too have had issues with the RCI Website. Friends of mine were on the Inaugural Quantum sailing and they had to not call and wait to speak with a CSR because the website keep crashing when they were trying to book their dinners since it has to be Dynamic Dining. Personally, I like Royal BUT I think their website is pretty crappy to be honest. The (rci ) wants us, the passengers to book more stuff on line...such as meals, excursions....etc... and Im ok with that, but then they need to provide a website that works. I too have already spoken with a CSR and didnt get the answer I wanted so I waited an hour and called back and spoke to someone different and she was fine with what I wanted to do. So again, although I like Royal, they are not totally clean. I dont think the issues are not worth sailing them, but you need to know how to navigate things a little differently is all.

  6. I really dont care for Guacamole, but the freshly made stuff in Sabor was awesome and the chips and salsa were great too. DW and I had the pork Tacos and you got three soft shells and they bring some small bowls with lettuce, different sauces...etc it was just the right size.... My wife got the dessert sampler and it was good too. Id go again when on the Oasis again.

  7. I use to think Trunk Bay too.... but most of the coral is dead or dying. If you go there you will see it too... its white. Some of the coral along the little island there is ok, but the majority is dying. Special thanks to sun screen, hairspray and make up, laundry detergent not rinses anough in our swim trunks... oh and the water temp change by mother nature too. Its a beautiful area and good excursion, but if you want to see fish, try another place.

  8. Looking back, I wish we would have talked to the manager of the restaurant and asked for his help. Perhaps they could have approached the family and diplomatically asked if there were something they coul do to make the child happy. I did speak with another dining room manager who said that they could not do anything in that situation as this is a family ship and the do not want to offend anyone. A lesson learned here.

This is the exact reason why they dont tell people who wear shorts to the dining room to go change into long pants.!!

  9. I think you mean 'the best place in Hawaii'.

That would be the Island of Maui ... the Old Lahaina Luau or Feast at Lele - both are excellent. They are in the town of Lahaina. They start around 5 p.m. and end close to 9 p.m. We've been to both in recent years, but I'm not sure what the current cost is ... between $100-$120 I think, but it will be on their websites.

    Enjoy :)

    I agee...Old Lahaina !!

  10. Congrats on your upgrade! When did you find out? Did you book through a ta or rccl? Sorry for the questions but we've been d+ for a while now and never had a hint of an upgrade. Thanks!

    Thank you.

The odd thing is, I always check my reservation to see if we get upgraded and I even checked two days before and nothing. We got to the pier and they told me when we checked in....so we were very happy. We always book directly with Royal Caribbean. We never rec'd an upgrade in the past either, so I was surprised too. I was told it all depends on what cabins they want to upgrade folks so they can sell them to new passengers. We started in a boardwalk, then we paid to upgrade to a D4 guarantee....then they upgraded us from that.

  11. How did it work out with both D and D+ using the lounge on the 11th floor? Any word on what they plan to do with D+ going forward? Is Wonderland still going to be built out? What is the word on ship or is everyone pleading dumb?

Thank you in advance for your reply.

It worked out fine actually. It was more busy than usual though as there were more people. There were much more people in there for the early seating for sure. There were still seats and tables for late seating guests. The staff in there didn't say much about the future of that area. A few of the other staff said they think dynamic dining may not happen now, but we will see they said.

  12. It's a crap shoot on missing it. I gave been there a bunch of times and only missed it once. Some will say allot and some will say hardly ever. It's all weather related misses and wave heights......so it's hard to give a good percentage.

I don't think they change the menus allot, so you may see the same or very similar menu unfortunately.
