1. Here's the article! http://www.wired.com/2014/09/conveyance-quantum-of-the-seas/

We love the Radiance and Vision class ships so not sure we're even interested in the bigger ships but it's interesting to watch their construction and the process involved in getting it 20 miles down a small river from the shipyard to the ocean!

I use think the same way about the bigger ships, but after I went on... I was totally WOW'd Simply amazing.... try it, you may just be hooked;)

  2. How do they assign upgrades. I just read that rccl upgraded a bunch of people and I think they are emerald. My preferences are set, and no upgrade... I guess I'm confused on how they decide. Is it a lottery...? We are D+ and no upgrade but lots of cabins available. So much for loyalty.....

  3. I'm meeting some friends in Miami and we can't decide on a restaurant. Some liked seafood, some like steak. The place doesn't have to be fancy, so we can wear shorts. We have been to Bayside but want to try something different. Any recommendations....?

  4. This poll is to see how many people eat dinner from the Main Dining Room Menu, and when they dine. Please pick the choice that usually applies to you on Royal Caribbean ships with a MDR. In addition to the main 3 choices (1st seating, 2nd seating, & My Time Dining), I've added one for guest who may dine in the CL and/or have a suite and eat meals from the MDR menu delivered to the suite. There's another choice for those who don't eat in the MDR, and don't pay attention or remember which seating they were assigned.

If you eat at the windjammer or any restaurant outside the MDR for 1 or 2 nights, please choose the seating you like to be assigned from the 3 main choices.

Also, for those who don't dine in the MDR (or only 1 or 2 meals for a certain items like lobster tails or whatever reason), please choose No MDR and the seating you are usually assigned.

With Dynamic Dining on the horizon, just curious to see what most passengers currently do for dinner (and/or have done in the past). Please feel free to post comments about eating all dinners in MDR, most dinners in MDR, take it back to room, avoid MDR whenever possible, etc. If you are looking forward to Dynamic Dining or not, please post those comments in the other thread. Thanks.

We are going on Allure in two weeks and we are set for MY TIME. We figure since there are so many other places to eat, lets try different options, but 95% of the time we choose 2nd seating. Its nice to come back from a long day, grab a quick slice of pizza and take a quick power nap.

  5. Really????? Diamond + and haven't attended any of those popular activities!?! Next cruise you must go to the Love and Marriage Show... It really is hilarious and worth attending!! I like to play bingo for the big jackpots or in hopes of winning a cruise... I have never gone to Quest but always heard it is a hoot for people of all ages! Never been to the Spa... I don't want to pay the marked up prices at sea.... :)

D+ and never to any of those.... Maybe they were in the cabin most of the time.... bow chicka bow bow....

  6. We have been to Horseshoe, but have heard that Elbow is just as nice... your thoughts, advice, info.....

~Do they have beach chairs and umbrellas for rent..cost?

    ~Can you Snorkel there?

  7. We did the Island Spectacular Tour and it was amazing. Saw the Volcano from a distance, saw some lava. We even saw a 360 degree Rainbow. The waterfall and valleys section was amazing too. I was sooo glad we did this tour. Was it expensive.... yes, but worth every cent !!:D

  8. I agree the Diving show is a must.

Secondly, I was never a big ice skating person, meaning my wife watches it during the Olympics and such and I would go to a different room and watch tv or go watch the grass grow:p, but years ago I agreed to go to the show and Im so glad I did. The Ice Shows are usually very good and I was greatly impressed.

  9.
If someone is bent on hurting themselves there is nothing the cruise industry can do. This is just another blood sucking lawyer trying to extract money from a lucrative industry. And since there are so many people looking for a free ride these days he will have no issues getting people to initiate lawsuits. A sad thing for this persons family but he would have done this some other way anyway. To hold the cruise line responsible is ridiculous.
You hit the nail on the head !!!
  10. Hello Everyone,

I am boarding IOTS in the next couple of weeks at Southampton and thought it would be fun to ask everyone if you have any tips on what you do first as soon as you board the ship...?

I usually head to the spa and get myself a raffle ticket, then go find my dining table for the cruise....finally I find a quiet corner and study the cruise compass with a cold drink

Do you have any tips on making the most of them 'first few hours' before you get given your room key...?

Looking forward to reading your replies

    Lisa xx

    1) Go Grab Lunch

    2) Take carry ons to our cabin

    3) Go see where our dining room table is located

    4) Show newbies around the ship

    5) Start to unwind and feel more relaxed....:)

  11. We used Pride of Maui. Boat was clean, staff was nice, food was good... The snorkeling was just ok. I had done lots of research and saw some amazing things so I was really looking forward to it. It was nice, dont get me wrong, but I didnt see what I thought I would see. ( octopus, maybe a small shark ) Water was very clear but kind of deep where we were anchored. I swam close to shore to see more assorted fish, but they were all pretty much the same. Im glad I went, but I wouldnt go back. Maybe it was the time of year we were there ( early december ) When we were on Oahu, we went to Hanauma ( sp ) Bay and it was amazing. They make you watch a 10 min video on do's and dont's and then hit the water. Some people still find it necessary to stand on the coral.... One day these treasures will be gone thanks to us humans.

  12. Well said. I am so glad we were able to see Pearl Harbor and that our kids were able to see it, too. They will learn about it in history class, of course, but to experience it makes it a reality.

Your right.... Seeing it with your own eyes gives you the reality of what happened. Books are ok, but seeing it and touching it, makes it all the more real.
