  1. We have been to Nassau a bunch of times and always went to the beach by the RIU ( cant think of name ) and we are wanting to go to a different beach and thought of maybe Junkanoo. What can you tell me about it...? Does it get crowded? Can you rent chairs and umbrellas there. Are drinks and food available to purchase.??

  2. Just back from a seven days on Freedom of Seas. It is a beautiful ship and

we loved everything about our suite experience except the Concierge Lounge

    evening cocktail hours.

Every evening the lounge was crowded with Diamond+ and Pinnacle Crown

and Anchor ( most of them wear their pins) members. They gather in large

groups, rearrange the furniture and carry on in a loud and boisterous manner

from start to finish. Suite guests are frequently faced with SRO or some

    make-shift seating in a corner.

Am I sailing on the wrong ship or this common on other Royal Caribbean ships?

DW and I are D+ and usually cruise with some other friends who are D+ too and we go to the CL every night before dinner. I am guilty of moving some furniture around for others to join us. We have been loud at times as we all discuss the days events and other funny things, but by no means do we exclude anyone. In fact we have seen couples sitting alone and asked them to join us and they usually do...after all, its all about having fun, so yes we have done this but again, we always ask others to join us. Oh and we have our D+ pins in my wife's jewelry box. We never wear them as we have nothing to prove to anyone. We are not the " look at me " type of people and we frown on people who think they are better due to that. I understand you earned your status, but remember.... the feet you step on today, might be the feet you have to kiss tomorrow. :D

  3. I have never had an issue with how some people dress.;)

"On how SOME people dress".... pardon me. I have a hard time with it when I see someone in the MDR with a Metallica tee shirt on. Hey I love Metallica too, but there is a time and a place for that. I just dont understand why some people would walk in, see the waiters wearing a tie and a vest and be cool sitting down with Board Shorts and a tee shirt on.

Again, if this is acceptable, change the rules so nobody can complain anymore.

  4. I am on the Quantum right now. From talking to people who are on B2B with last "week"'s maiden voyage, there were many more problems THEN.

I have had ZERO problems. It's night #9, and each night has been wonderful. Excellent service, fine timing, no problems.

    Relax, people. It's just dinner.

    :D

Good, I hope they got the bugs worked out NOW....

  5. I always had an issue how some people dress. Shorts and tee's should be turned away at the door....period. If you cant put on a pair of Dockers and a golf shirt for 1-2 hours a night, then eat someplace else. OR change the rules to wear whatever you want cuz we dont care what you look like when you come to the MDR... Suggested is a nice way of saying, please wear somethings decent people.... some people cant read between the lines, or take advantage of it.

    ENFORCE IT or DITCH IT

  6. Oasis will no longer offer the traditional dining that we have all become accustomed to. The main dining room will be divided up into 3 separate dining rooms. You will no longer go to the same table with the same people anymore. Anyone have more info and opinions?

Friends of mine were just on Quantum and they hated Dynamic Dining. They said most of the food was cold, it took too long and they spoke with a bunch of others on the ship who felt the same way. I kno wthey are probably working the bugs out of the Quantum, but, I got the feeling allot of folks didnt like it in general. Some were older and had a hard time making reservations too.

Personally, I like traditional dining. I like it when I walk in and the waiter says hello Keith, how was your day. They can still say this in Dynamic, but I like seeing the same waiter each night.... they know that I like the Savory Bites so he / she will have two on my plate when I sit down. They know little things like that...which I like and may not see during Dynamic.

  7. Just wondering if we should try a CP balcony for something different and to save a couple hundred dollars.

For those that normally sail in Ocean Balconies and have tried the Central Park one would you do it again? Did you regret not looking at the ocean?

I am afraid we will miss looking out to see.;)

    Don't want Boardwalk, too noisy

We have done Allure and Oasis and have had CP and the latest was a Board walk. 99% of all other cruises we had a balcony or higher. We got a Board walk last time to see if we could still see the ocean, and you can, but its still not the same. I was missing the Sea... So we have a recent Oasis cruise coming up in Jan and RCCL ran a special on D8 guarantee's and it wasnt much to switch so we switched and I ended up getting a D4, so I will be able to sit and watch the ocean again in January.

In the past, I thought saving the money was good idea at the time, but then when I went out on the CP balcony and saw people sitting out on their balcony too, it was kinda weird. So the next time the price was good for a CP we did it again..... and I missed seeing the Sea. So, I think I will try to do a sea view balcony in the future, but if its too much money I will book a Board Walk and hope a Sea View Balcony Guarantee opens up for same price or a small fee.

  8. There are too many variables with flying in the day of. Weather, mechanical issues, other delays.....

I look at it like this... I just spent allot of money on airline tix, cruise tix....what is another 150 bux to ensure I will make the cruise and not miss due the other variables by flying in the day before and getting a hotel and especially starting the vaca one day early....;)

  9. About me - mid 60's New Yorker... 30 cruises - everything from ultra luxury to bottom of the barrel... (but only one previous on RCL)

So this time I pick Allure of the Seas. Check with the cruise line and find that there is only one GS available (on deck 6) but I can book a GS guarantee (for less). I check prices with my travel agent. He does offer a better price package, and so I book the guarantee asking him to please tell RCL that I specifically did not want the cabin on deck 6.

Three days later I am assigned the deck 6 cabin - oh well only GS available.

Two weeks go by and I check the RCL website. They are still offering a GS guarantee and the price is significantly lower than when I booked.

Go to the TA. Can I get some relief? A cabin upgrade? A reduction in cost? OBC? Or just a different GS cabin (like I originally requested)? He calls RCL.

I get nothing. They will do nothing for me.

Bottom line is my trip is a month away and I feel that RCL took advantage of me. This is about my 30th cruise. Only my 2nd on RCL. Now we know why.

Id rather book directly with RCCL so I can also make changes to my reservation on line myself...and if there are charges, I work with a rep and its changed. Also, a guarantee is exactly what they say it is. Your guaranteed to get that category but no location yet....I bet someone who booked with RCCL wouldn't get that cabin...

  10. <rant on>

You know, I really like the RCI product. I like the ships, the itineraries (for the most part) and the food but this sale crap they got going is no longer just a joke or something I'd shake my head at and laugh.

I was looking at the price of our Indy cruise yesterday and wondered if it would drop with the WOW sale on. I priced it yesterday at $2070. This morning with the WOW sale on it actually went up by almost $200! Maybe I'm missing the point of WOW. Maybe its meant to be "WOW, the price went up".

I'm actually starting to feel like they're trying to steal from people. There was a company in Canada not too long ago (they're out of business now) that got caught doing exactly what RCI has been doing since way back in the spring. They would announce "big savings" and jack up the prices. They were fined millions for the practice.

    C'mon RCI, where's your ethics?

    <\rant off>

I feel sorry for the people who arent on CC or know enough about cruising to ask for help and just call RCI and say Book It ! They can fool some, but not all !

  11. I prefer a Helicopter because you go much slower and is more manoeuvrable when the pilot spots something.... he can hover there for a minute or turn around on a dime. You cant do that in a plane. Helicopters can also get you much closer to the sights. Just some thoughts....

  12. I wouldn't pay $30 for that.......

You get more than just a steak.... the sides and appetizers and desserts were awesome too. I had the shrimp cocktail and they were NOTHING like you get in the main dining room. I had 4 huge shrimp.... they were more like small lobster tails to be honest. I think the meal is worth 30 bux... but then I had the 10oz filet and not the strip steak.
