  1. Just off the Edge. Burgers were awful. We were just coming back from an excursion, close to closing time with the last of them on the grill and that may have been the reason they were tasteless. The hot dogs were just okay and the fries did not even compare to the ones at McD's. Sad - used to really like the Mast Grill.
  2. I just got this the other day and someone else also posted it on our roll call for the March 4th sailing.
  3. We got off the Edge earlier this month. Did a B2B and had a 3 night dining package each cruise. We did Fine Cuts once on each cruise. First night we had the tomahawk. Great presentation. A lot smaller than when we were on the Apex last year. Meat was not quite as tender as it should have been. Second night DH had the filet mignon and I had the ribeye. Both were sub-par. One good thing was that we were able to get Premium Beverage wines that we were not able to get any where else on the ship, which ticked me off to no end. I could have stuck to the Classic Beverage package, saved a ton of money and just upgraded my wine each time for an upcharge. We did Eden twice on each cruise and they were all wonderful.
  4. We sailed the Apex last February and loved Fine Cuts. The tomahawk was to die for. We sailed the Edge this month and was very disappointed with Fine Cuts. Tomahawk was much smaller and rather tough. I may not go back if booking an Edge class ship. Now Eden on the other hand was amazing. But I love the idea of a dinner and a show. We were seating right across from the prep area. The chefs were great to watch. Food was great. But yes - it is seafood forward.
  5. Our first balcony was on the Solstice - 9292. Spoiled us forever. Mid-ship, biggest balcony, rear facing. Some folks that don't like them say that is like being in a tunnel. I didn't think so.
  6. We also used Guided Tours Israel. We did two days in Jerusalem and one day in Haifa. Day one we did old Jerusalem and Bethlehem. Day two was Masada and the Dead Sea. Day three was Galilee. We had a smaller bus - 16 people plus driver and Israeli guide. Our guide muscled her way around road blocks and crowds to give us a better, but exhausting experience. We did spend at least an hour back and forth and traffic was a nightmare at times. You may want to consider staying overnight to avoid the back and forth. Overall - well worth it.
  7. Hopefully you would be able to secure some decent wine glasses and walk out of your cabin with them full of your wine.
  8. We had one on the Apex last year on the 8th deck a little further back. At the time they were much cheaper than the infinite veranda so we gave it a shot. Loved it! We had friends who had the infinite veranda so we had something to compare it to. They had some of the usual complaints - air went off when open, closed by captain during bad weather, privacy. It was nicer to be able to close the door on the porthole and be outside.
  9. Since you did the shows - do you recall what time they usually were? Trying to time dinner reservations. Thanks!
  10. We were just off the Edge. We had a drink package but we did run into folks that did not and were Elite. At the Martini bar they were served smaller versions of what is on the Elite menu - cosmo, martini, etc. The breakfast was served in Le Petit Chef - across the deck from Cafe Bacio. We went there a few times to escape the madness of the Oceanview and the slowness of the dining room.
  11. We just got back from PC/ABC and Eastern. We just had regular wifi and it was slooooow. Kept kicking us out of their app!! Facetime was a struggle. Uploading email was a struggle. Anywhere in the ship. We had an oceanview on the third deck. I heard folks who upgraded to Starlink complaining too.
  12. I live close to Bridgewater. Have cruised out of Bayonne many times. The Marriott is a good choice. Bridgewater Commons Mall is close. There are decent restaurants nearby. If you are a little adventurous - try heading out to the next town over - Somerville. Hundreds of restaurants - nice downtown walking - especially if you are staying in the summer. Another option is the Hilton Garden Inn - attached to the Bridgewater Promenade outdoor 'Mall'. May be a more economical choice. Lots of discount liquor stores nearby to purchase wine if you are on Royal or Celebrity.
  13. Say it ain't so!! No Captain Tasos!! I was looking forward to sailing with him based on everything folks were saying about him and his sense of humor. BTW - Loved your review. Joining the ship for a B2B on Monday. Great information.
  14. I thought the same thing. I guffawed when she said the "culinary brand". Michel Roux is turning over in his grave right now.
  15. My Edge sailing on Monday has the same thing listed for reservations. Since we are doing the Panama Canal - I am assuming the gym will get crowded on that day by the front windows since the only folks who have forward sight access are the Retreat and Aqua.
  16. You will probably get a million recommendations. Depends on what you like, how much you want to spend and how far you want to go with a taxi. There are many great places right in downtown Oranjestad. Wilhemina for fine dining, El Gaucho for steaks, Gostoso for Portuguese, Lima Bistro,. Further afield is Quinta del Carmen, Chalet Suisse, Elements.
  17. So happy that you were pleased with Avila. We have been to Mambo Beach quite a few times and wanted to try something new. We will be going on the next sailing of the Edge.
  18. So are we - except the port order is reversed. We are B2B - doing the Canal cruise on the 13th.
  19. We have seen him the last three times we went to Pigeon Island. Once past COVID. Love the guy!!
  20. Exactly why I got out of leisure travel in the early 90's. The last straw was when airlines stopped paying commissions. I went corporate travel until 9/11. That was the end of it all. I am retired and get my jollies out on my own vacations.
  21. This is EXACTLY what I do. We went on the Apex last year but I am watching Eden videos!
  22. If I book an excursion through the website ahead of time to take advantage of a sale - can I cancel once on board the ship?
  23. We were on the last viable Celebrity Eclipse cruise around the horn. Covid hit and we couldn't get off the ship for 14 days until we got to San Diego. Luckily we were B2B so we were prepared. Lots of folks who should have gotten off in Chile were not. Had to make a stop in Ecuador for insulin. I NEVER travel without at least twice the amount I need. We were stuck once in Aruba because of a hurricane on the East coast and couldn't get home for 4 days. My friend was without his meds. He learned from that experience!
  24. I have the pictures of the limes in my order history, but purchased the Premium upgrade. The date of the order was there. I checked my boarding pass and it says both CALL and PALL.
