  1. I can also zone out noise - a skill I learnt in the classroom! Yes, we’ve probably been lucky. I think the worse noise was the air con on Iona which was quite annoying,
  2. We have never heard anything from other cabins! I can honestly say that it’s usually as quiet as being at home and as you know, we live in the middle of nowhere!
  3. I understand your point, but the problem is this - the glossy advertising doesn’t project a ‘more budget experience’!
  4. It would still be unspent if I lived to a 100!
  5. On Princess, yes. However I was responding to Moley’s comment regarding the no package option becoming the Early Saver/Saver type. That would put me as a disadvantage as someone who doesn’t drink, isn’t bothered about wifi or embarkation but who likes to select my cabin and have the free parking option.
  6. I wear trainers for smart casual - I have a variety of styles and colours. Plain black ones are ok.
  7. As long as passengers who don’t want a drinks package are disadvantaged. I don’t want a drinks package or wi-fi and don’t care about early boarding. I do want choice of dining and car parking and I like included gratuities.
  8. I have enjoyed the contest as per usual but dear me, what happened to Mae?
  9. On Britannia last month, there was a couple with a Brompton bike each. They were in the lift with us with the bikes as they were going out for the day, so they must have been kept in their cabin. We asked them whether they were folding bikes and they said that no, they were in 3 parts and they just assembled them. We then saw them as we were disembarking and they were still in three parts, no bigger than a medium sized case.
  10. The app seems very hit and miss doesn’t it! My cousin was on the cruise after us to the Fjords, but they were in a suite so had breakfast in the Epicurean which was lovely. They weren’t impressed with the buffet and thought that the MDR was very disappointing. So they managed to book the Epicurean for a few dinners too. They enjoyed the overall cruise experience (this was their first cruise) and will go again.
  11. Have there been any developments with regard to trying to ensure that Iona can actually visit Geiranger in the future?
  12. I’m with Denplan and have 2 check ups every year and 3-4 hygienist appointments. The hygienist is very thorough and the whole treatment takes about 35 minutes. I always think of it as a spa treatment, very pleasant and feel-good.
  13. The staff in the Horizon were clearing dozens of these small dishes at once! For instance, if you had 2 scones, then you would need 6 dishes - each of butter, jam and cream.
  14. As they now serve tiny individual portions of butter, jam, cream etc in tiny yellow dishes, you can easily end up with 6 of the little blighters, so trays are invaluable. And then there’s the bread roll to accompany a salad, so you can often have a full tray. Makes no sense to get rid of them.
  15. There were plenty of them in the Horizon on Britannia, clearly wearing yellow tops.
  16. Britannia 12 night cruise last month with 5 sea days. On each sea day they had: Noon. Britannia Vocalists. The Live Lounge. Come and join Britannia’s very own vocal group with members of the Entertainment team. Suitable for all ages and vocal abilities.
  17. There were trays on Britannia recently.
  18. And annoyingly, I couldn’t cancel my tour booking on the app. Had to visit the shorex desk.
  19. I’m afraid that I’ve cancelled a future cruise on Arcadia with P&O following our recent cruise on Britannia. Although levels of service were good, the food was so disappointing. To be fair, that’s not the only reason for cancelling Arcadia - the ports were all going to be repeats and we actually enjoyed our Iona cruise and felt that there was more going on. So for us, we’ll probably book Iona again - but during term time!
  20. Cancelled tours is 48 hrs beforehand, and then with a cancellation ‘penalty’ of 10%. I know because we cancelled a tour last month.
  21. Do you actually carry the bear around the ship then?
  22. Last month on Britannia - Syndicate Quiz 3.30 every day in the Crystal Room.
  23. In your situation, I would aim for around 3pm. You can’t expect 9 other passengers to jump the queue.
  24. Depends on the card holder. I always register by credit card and was able to see my account and my husband’s account on My Holiday app, He was only able to see his own account, not mine. We managed to spend the last few pounds of our OBC on the last day on pressies,
