  1. Glad to hear that you had a great Christmas day onboard. As a matter of interest, do you have to have the matched wines in the Epicurian? And if not, is the meal cheaper?
  2. It depends on the table itself. I like rustic looking tables, not shiny ones. I don’t like shiny furniture.
  3. I’ve only been to Ynyshir and there were no tablecloths in their Michelin restaurant.
  4. But if you spill some red wine before eating your starter, the stain is there for the whole meal! I just like clean and simple. I’ve never owned a tablecloth and don’t intend ever to buy one!
  5. The Botanical Gardens are worth a visit on St Vincent. It was our first Caribbean island and we thought it was lovely.
  6. I agree. Some pics leaving Oslo last June on Enchanted Princess.
  7. I don’t really like tablecloths so it wouldn’t bother me. I think they’re old fashioned.
  8. Very sorry to hear of your loss Damian. Hope that you all have a chance to relax at Brithdir now that the icy conditions have passed. I’m sure that steep hill would have been treacherous last week.
  9. Our posties drive a van but work alone. They drive long distances and have to open and close tens of gates on every round, in all weather conditions.
  10. Agree 100%. We were supposed to be on Borealis from Liverpool earlier this month but had to change our plans due to family illness. I don’t really mind who I sail with as long as I can get off the ship fairly easily!
  11. I’m not bothered about the look of these bigger ships and it’s nice to have all the additional facilities. For me, it’s more about the logistical challenges. We’ve seen the problems with Iona and Gerianger this year, and it seems that the bigger ships won’t be able to visit some places. Worse still, it’s the issue of getting so many passengers off quickly in port and whether the ports can cope. Another thread currently mentions the difficulty of getting enough shuttles for Iona in Hamburg and Hamburg is a big place! We will see for ourselves next year - we have Iona booked!
  12. We’re fine thanks, used to this! As long as we have electricity, no probs. Happy that my sweepstake made it but decided as a family to donate the £40 to the Salvation Army. We have a warm house and plenty of food.
  13. 3 thoughts: We always take the Horizon/Princess Patter or equivalent when visiting a port as they have contact numbers. We never take drinks onboard. Regardless, I wouldn’t dream of putting any bottles in a suitcase. Asking for trouble. I wouldn’t expect bus drivers in London to speak German so it’s not surprising that the German bus drivers speak little English.
  14. Still stranded here. If things don’t improve tomorrow, my husband will have to use the JCB.
  15. We’ve had difficulty getting around for the last week or so, even in the 4x4, but we can’t go anywhere today. We have a steep track which is now like an ice rink. It’s raining which is making everything worse. Everything is frozen solid.
  16. How lovely to have a nice cruise to look forward to. I hope you both enjoy the new ship.
  17. Our valley has superfast and it was a godsend during lockdown with 3 of us working from home, but several other valleys don’t and it leaves people at a huge disadvantage. I just want a level playing field for all. Regardless of gaming, etc, for business use and students, a fast and reliable connection is essential.
  18. To answer the thread title, things are NOT good where I am now! The one positive is that Rashford is back on form which will hopefully continue when the Premiership resumes!
  19. I’ve outlined many times why we want a table for 2. Nothing to do with flexibility and frankly, the staffing situation is not our problem.
  20. Hope not. I don’t drink and I’m not bothered about wi-fi onboard.
  21. Well if you don’t want superfast internet, send them to install it around here!
  22. I had it too - and we’re not going to the Caribbean either!
  23. Well I’m fed up with the important results of course! Otherwise, really enjoying the football. If you’re a true fan, you enjoy the sport at every level and appreciate all participants. It’s the same with any sport I think, I love watching tennis and athletics too and it doesn’t matter where they’re from. Rugby I hate with a passion so never watch any, not even the Wales games. I wouldn’t go out and watch them if they were playing in the field outside!
  24. So sorry Karlina to read this. It’s really terrible,
