  1. We are 4 star with HAL and love their ships, especially Signature and Vista class ships, they are just the right size and and the decor is beautiful and classy. We have sailed with Princess and are Elite with them and now have sailed with Celebrity 7 times. We believe that Celebrity has the best food both in the MDR and the buffet. HAL and Princess are pretty good but I had a bad meal on both lines in the last year. Service is excellent on all 3 lines. All 3 lines keep their ships spotless but Princess has had some engine problems with some of their ships which has led to short times in ports and missing a port altogether. Best entertainment goes to Celebrity and Princess is also pretty good. Music Walk on HAL gives you different options every night but the Main Showroom has been very disappointing the last 5 years with very few shows, entertainment is not the Planet Earth video, cheap way to entertain passengers. What we don't care with Celebrity is the constant Electronic Dance Music that is blaring almost every hour of the day and sometimes very loud, even at early morning breakfast in the buffet. It's hard to find a quiet spot on the ship except for outside on the promenade deck.
  2. What those passengers did was unbelievable heroism and patriotism.
  3. My recommendation would be Royal Caribbean ships, much more for a 15 year old to do than on HAL ships.
  4. To the displeasure of many of us, the days of the traditional promenade deck with beautiful views of the sea from a steamer chair are a thing of the past except for a few ships like Vista and Signature class ships on HAL , a shame but if the cruise lines weren't so worried about revenue they could still have a second promenade deck, a deck above the current promenade. That was the case on our first cruise on Sitmar's Fairwind which was originally the Cunard Sylvania, a true Ocean Liner and they called it the Ocean deck.
  5. Good Morning from beautiful Southwest Florida. We must never forget 9.11.2001. God Bless America.
  6. We love HAL, Celebrity and Princess, we sailed with Celebrity on the Equinox twice this summer and the Rotterdam in March. Celebrity has better food and the variety of food in the buffet is amazing but we had no problem with the food on HAL. We find the cabins on Celebrity a bit larger with ample closet space and the bathrooms are also larger, the Noordam and her sister ships also have nice sized cabins but we weren't happy with our cabin size on the Rotterdam, tiny bathroom but the shower was a nice size. HAL has Music Walk but the shows in the main theater are week, Celebrity had great entertainment in the main showroom. Grest service on both lines as is the cleanliness. Both lines maintain their ships at a high level. We do love the Noordam and her sister ships as they all have the old style full promenade decks with the steamer deck chairs. Passengers are older on HAL but so are we as we are in our mid 70s.
  7. Sometimes I wonder was goes on with the minds of the bean counters with HAL. Remember when they decided to charge for a second entree in the MDR, that went over like a lead balloon.
  8. I think their upsells are an insult and a joke, one time I was offered an upsell and it cost more than the brochure rate. Maybe HAL should give their best customers a free upgrade once in awhile like the old days.
  9. Congrats on your 53rd wedding anniversary, you beat us by about a month as we tied the knot on 10-5-69.
  10. We were on the Equinox 3 weeks ago and there were crew members at the entrance of the Lido with sanitizers plus the free standing machines. I was not happy that they went to self serve but we are early risers and are usually the first to make it to breakfast and lunch in the Buffet.
  11. IMHO the cruise lines have jumped the gun on not requiring testing or masking, they also should have not started selve serve in the buffet, in fact with the threat of Norovirus always a possibility, the buffet should never be self serve anymore. We have been on 5 cruises since Thanksgiving but have been double boosted and when on the ship we mask up while up indoors, we have yet to have Covid. We are sailing on the Nieuw Amsterdam in early December and will continue to take precautions with masking and social distancing.
  12. There is nothing wrong with the Celebrity App, as another poster said once you get close to your cruise, everything will work great.
  13. Graham, the National Tailgating day here in the Colonies is to celebrate Tailgating in sport arenas and stadiums parking lots where before games people have picnics with tailgates of their vans and SUV's open where all the food and beverages are accessible. They bring along folding chairs and grills and have a grand time. Yes, we also have Tailgating like you mentioned by people who are stupid and ignorant drivers, something that's not a cause for celebration.
  14. Find a larger venue for Lincoln Center on Vista and Signature Class ships.
  15. Won't work for us with 67 cruises, been to a lot of ports as many as 30 times. As this stage in our lives, we don't care where we go as we just sail in the Caribbean with the ship being the destination.
  16. If HAL ever makes a permanent move to Miami, they will lose us as customers.
  17. I don't, if you live in Florida, driving to Miami and the port is dangerous and insane especially on I-95 between Ft. Lauderdale and Miami and we are originally from Chicago and know how to drive in traffic. Coming in on l-75 and the Shula expressway is a little better.
  18. We have been on 67 cruises and have sailed with most of the cruise lines except NCL. 5 times on MSC and have never had a bad cruise, we love the Divina, it's beautiful but didn't care for the Seaside as that ship is marketed towards a younger crowd, they have a DJ in the Atrium playing ear shattering EDM tunes all day long. Too much glass and mirrors in the interior lounges, restaurants and other public rooms. We have always found the food on MSC to be good but not as good as Celebrity, Holland America and Princess though MSC has great Italian food and Pizza. Service is very good and the ships are spotless. Entertainment is excellent in the main showroom on MSC ships with a lot of visual acts because of all the different nationalities on board, Italian night is always great with all the favorite Italian songs with the finale being "Time To Say Goodbye" which gets a standing ovation. The Michael Jackson Show was amazing but has been replaced with I believe an Elton John show. It bothers a little that they don't have a live band or orchestra in the main showroom, though the singers are out there the actual music is canned. One of our favorites is the shorter versions of various operas, we have seen Madame Butterfly and La Traviata, both were excellent and Madame Butterfly brought tears to our eyes. Entertainment in other lounges and the Atrium have always been excellent. If you sail in the summer, the ships are packed with a lot of kids as they sail for free, not sure how crowded they are these days as Covid is still around. If you have any questions, just ask away.
  19. We can get a great rate on the Oct. 2 sailing on Divina out of Port Canaveral. We have sailed with MSC 5 times and all on the Divina but not since 2019 right before Covid. We are mid 70s and haven't had Covid yet and wondering how full MSC ships have been in the last few months or so. We have always found the food on the Divina to be good but not great, any changes with the food? Entertainment has always been outstanding, how has it been lately. I'd appreciate any other feedback, thanks much.
  20. You would walk right across the street from one ship to the other, both piers where HAL ships usually dock are very very close to the mid-point parking garage. Is this written in stone, no, if there are 7 or 8 ships in port then all bets are off. Either way you will have plenty of time to transfer from one ship to the other.
  21. The pea soup and Dover Sole on Dutch Night, a crime they stopped Dutch Night.
  22. Usually a bowl of soup, a nice sandwich and a small dessert in the Lido.
