  1. I remember back in the day when you went out for breakfast and the coffee was free and they kept filling the cup up, now it’s 3 dollars and you’re lucky if you see the waitress again, lucky for us we have a great waitress at our favorite breakfast diner and she is always there for you.
  2. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. Mid 70s right now but not getting much warmer with a high of 79, we had some rain during the early morning hours. Good selection of days. Never met a salad I didn’t like. Audrey Hepburn was a great actress and her quote is spot on. We have been to Croatia but to Dubrovnik and not Zadar. I’m ready for the Baseball season to start but I’m also still excited with the hockey season as the Stanley Cup Playoffs begin in mid April. Being from Chicago I still follow the White Sox and Blackhawks but with over 30 years in Florida I’ve become a huge fan of the Rays and Lightning. Have a great day and stay well.
  3. I miss Rodney Dangerfield.
  4. I remember driving over the double span Skyway bridge in 1983 on the remaining span as we drove from Clearwater to Sarasota to see a spring training baseball game and seeing what was left of the other span, very eerie to see part of the span still in tact unlike today’s accident that brought down just about the whole bridge.
  5. I didn’t hear that but that makes sense and relieves my fears of terrorism.
  6. Unbelievable, this just doesn’t happen with clear and calm conditions with the Captain and 2 Pilots on the bridge, I won’t be surprised that terrorism might be in play as individuals could have taken command of the bridge. One of the commentators on Fox news also said that this might very well be a crime scene. A similar incident happened in Tampa Bay in the early 80s but dense fog was the main reason a container ship brought down that bridge with the Pilot also miscalculating the clearance between the support columns, IIRC 35 persons lost their lives that night including some aboard a Greyhound bus.
  7. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. 62 right now with a high of 82 and sunny skies I’m of Greek ancestry so hooray for Greek Independence Day as Greeks suffered for hundreds of years under the Ottoman Empire. I’m not sure I agree with the quote. I am in on today’s meal. Only been to Ireland once and for only a few hours as we had to make a medical stop in Shannon on a flight from Athens to NYC. Off to the golf course soon, we have early tee times on Mondays. Have a great day and stay well.
  8. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. 62 heading up to a pleasant sunny 81 this afternoon. Good selection of days as is the quote. I love shrimp and enjoy tacos but I’ve never had a shrimp taco. I’m not a big basketball fan and don’t watch the NCAA tournament, even though I left Chicago 31 years ago I am happy that Illinois has advanced to the Sweet Sixteen, Northwestern will probably lose to UCONN today, from what I’ve read Illinois has a good shot of making the Final Four. Have a great day and stay well.
  9. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. Terrible news this AM with a steam pipe explosion on the Nieuw Amsterdam killing 2 crew members, prayers for their souls. 67 right now and after a rainy Friday it’s going to be sunny with a high of 77 today. No comment on one of the days but the other 2 are good especially with all our cat lovers here. Thought provoking quote by Eleanor Roosevelt. I’ll try the meal as there aren’t many chicken concoctions that I would turn down. Never been to Madagascar or anywhere else in Africa but I’d love to visit Egypt and the Pyramids along with the Valley of the Kings but it’s not going to happen. Saturday morning means it breakfast at our favorite diner. Have a great day and stay well.
  10. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. 67 this morning, raining right now with showers and thunderstorms expected throughout the day, high of only 72, unfortunately no golf today. Meh on the days but the quote is fine. We’ve been to Falmouth and Jamaica many times but can’t remember the last time we actually stepped ashore. Climbing Dunn’s River Falls back in 1991 is still one the most fun things we ever experienced while in a cruise port, also enjoyed rafting on the Martha Brae river. Pass on the meal. Since we now have 2 official pieces of mail with our new address we can now get our new driver licenses and auto registration, good day to get this out of the way what with the all day rain. Have a great day and stay well.
  11. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte Another nice day with a sunny and warm 82 coming up but we have a front moving in Friday with rain and wind, doubt if I will be playing golf tomorrow. Interesting days but I for one don’t believe in the Big Bang Theory. I Like the quote by Helen Hayes who was a wonderful actress. The meal works for me but I’m almost positive that I’ve never eaten a turnip. We’ve been to Salerno Italy, enjoyed it but not as much as Sorrento. Have a great day and stay well.
  12. We’ve been also cruising with Princess and Celebrity for many years, we also sail with MSC but aren’t wild about the drive to Miami, Port Everglades is our favorite port.
  13. HAL has lost their way, they lost us and we are 4 Star Mariners, I doubt that we will ever cruise with them again.
  14. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. 52 this morning but warming up to 78 with Florida sunshine and lot of Vitamin D. Good selection of days. Excellent quote by Ben Franklin, a very intelligent person, in fact a genius. I’d try the Quiche, could be yummy. Off to the golf course soon, our group of 4 or 5 foursomes usually have the first tee times but with DST we are warming up on the range in pretty dark conditions, another few weeks and we might be able to see the flight of our balls while on the range. Have a great day and stay well.
  15. The Eurodam and her twin sister Nieuw Amsterdam.
  16. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. Sunny and a high of only 72 today as we had a cool front move in last night. Good selection of days, DW was a registered nurse for 40 years including running an Intensive Care Unit for 25 of those years. Taking care of me can be very intensive at times. I’m thinking real hard about the quote. The meal sounds appealing. DS and her hubby are visiting us today as they are spending all of March in Clearwater. Have a great day and stay well.
  17. Solstice class ships have 15 and Edge class have 16.
  18. Nice photos, we stopped there on a Princess cruise IIRC in 1998, nice island but downtown was as you said sort of cheesy but we enjoyed visiting the British Navy yard. I also remember the great view of Barbuda from Antigua. My son and his wife had a great time there last week at an all inclusive resort.
  19. Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte. Happy St. Patrick’s Day. Foggy right now but another nice day coming up with sunny skies and 81, once the fog burns off I’ll go for a bike ride then it’s off to church. Great selection of days but the quote is sort of silly. Corned beef with cabbage and boiled potatoes is a great meal, the next day with leftovers you can make Reuben Sandwiches, how great is that! The Players Championship is going to be a shootout today with probably 7 guys with a good chance of winning, Xander Schauffle has a one shot lead at 17 under headIng into round 4. Have a great day and stay well.
