  1. We really don't want to fly out of JFK but it may be the best option for us because of Flight schedules and airfare rates. We are concerned about parking. Is the parking at the long term lot safe?

  2. Love your post!! I have two hotels rooms booked for the same date in FLL for January....have to cancel one..but I keep procrastinating....we have booked cruises more than a year out...only problem if it's too far out you end up booking more than one...LOL

Jane, yes I know what you mean. I booked another cruise about 2 weeks after booking the one for 2017! The other one isn't until 2018, but I may book something in between the 2 cruises.

I have been looking at reviews for the pre-cruise hotel (we are going down 2 days early, although I've been thinking of adding an extra day) and I don't think I'm going to be happy with it. I may just have to book something else.

  3. We booked at 295 days out! We are now down to 225, and the time has really passed faster than I expected it to. We have not been on a cruise since 2002 and I'm so excited that all I do is talk about it. I think my husband is getting really, really sick of hearing about it EVERY SINGLE DAY!

I have also been doing a lot of planning and everyday I change things, like...should we fly or drive, should I cancel the hotel we booked or not. My husband will come home from work ask me 'so, today, have you decided if we are going to drive or fly". Booking so far in advance is not such a good thing for me :)

Once when I went to get a new pair of eyeglasses, the sales person keep trying to sell me some kind of special lenses. First I said, no...than I said, ok...than I said, no. I told her not to ask me anymore questions because I change my mind all the time, and that once I booked 3 different vacations at the same time and had to cancel 2 of them. She gave me a strange look, so I assume she did not think that was funny.

    BTW.....I've been married 3 times :D

  4. :confused::eek::eek::eek::confused:

I know many of you have stayed at the Embassy 17th St. - My family and I have stayed there twice in the past pre-and-post-cruise. We love the hotel so of course after I booked our upcoming Feb 5 cruise out of Port Everglades I went to the website to book two nights pre-cruise. Imagine my shock and surprise when the total for one suite/4 people/2 nights came to almost $800.00!!! Whaaaaat??? I think in the past we have paid around $179.00/night. Does anyone know what gives? Is there something going on in town that weekend (Feb 3-5) or have their rates gone up that much? I mean it's a nice hotel but not THAT nice! Any recommendations for another nice hotel close by that offers parking and free breakfast that is a little less pricey? Thanks!!

We looked into the Embassy Suites for a 2 night pre-cruise for the end of April and it was also over $400! We are probably going to book the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina for half that price!

  5. YAA! 52 days till Mom and I sail on Carnival Conquest ... IN A BALCONY! It's my FIRST EVER BALCONY! (She's had them on Princess and Royal before)

My question: Should I bring a Bungee cord to keep the door open? I'm not sure how this works ... does the door swing "in" or "out" ?

By the way, anyone been in Conquest cabin 8280? Looks like a great location :)

My sister was in that same stateroom on her Feb. cruise! She'll be in it again this coming Feb. She said the Balcony door stayed opened by itself.

She said to leave something in the stateroom and let her know where it is....she wants ot see how well they clean! :D

Also, she said do not lean on the balcony, as she got some (maybe bleach) and it ruined her shirt.

  6. As of right now if the cruise begins and ends in the same spot and it is in the Caribbean a pp isn't needed.

We just got ours for an upcoming cruise. I think it was about $110 plus a $25 processing fee per pp. They came in less than 3 weeks. Although, you don't need one for a Caribbean cruise leaving out of the US, it good to have it. If you have an emergency while on one of the islands you will not be able to fly home without

    a pp.

  7. We are going on the Conquest and I have reservations for the steak house on the first night. My husband and I ( mostly me) are foodies and would like to eat more than once at the steak house. Can you request a reservation for more than one night?

I am also wondering about the chef's table. My husband does not eat any fish so would he be able to get some thing different?

  8. It varies. They will usually help you switch ships if there is availability. As far as airfare, hotel, you are pretty much on your own. They may offer to give you something for airfare change fee (Celebrity offered this once to us but we would have still had to pay any difference in fare. Luckily we hadn't booked flights yet), but that's never a given especially with Carnival. Just another good reason to buy trip insurance.

I do buy the insurance offered by the cruise line, however I book my own airfare.

  9. I don't know what I'm expecting. If it was fresh fish and chips, then the $6 might be worth it but I am, like you, not assuming it's good quality all around. The lobster is altogether overpriced, as is the clam chowder, but the fish actually isn't priced badly for AMAZING fish and chips. Lobster rolls are the same price on land though! I guess people just go nuts for lobster and that's what they're counting on.

I do agree with you and doubt it will be amazing. But your comment as to how different it "could" be is what I was replying to. In theory, it could be WAY better because it was pretty awful before (the actual fish and chips...I liked a few things at the old F&C venue). I have seen pics of the lobster and soup but none of the "new fried seafood so no data at all to judge on. It'd take a lot, at this point, for me to pay fo fish and chips on a Carnival ship after taking a few bites of the old stuff multiple times and being unable to eat it because it was so bad (only thing on ship I can think of that was this way except dishes I knew I might not like due to personal tastes).

I am from Connecticut and we pay a lot more for seafood here. A lobster roll would be at over $15. We went out for seafood tonight and I had a fried seafood combo ( scallops, a piece of fish, 2 shrimp and a few whole belly clams) for almost $30!

I don't really like the idea of Carnival charging for certain items but I would probably pay the extra.
