  1. We are planning on going to Little French Key next month and have reserved the full island package. I am wondering about the food included in this package. I have heard they just bring you a plate. My husband does not eat seafood so can we request what we want?

Also, Do they have floats available for the water?

I have heard that this resort gets crowded and they don't limit the amount of guests?

  2. I think I heard the Breeze is going to Orlando next year.

Yes, the Breeze will be in Orlando next year and we will probably cruise on her. My favorite home port is Fort Lauderdale and I hope we will get a different Conquest class there. We just did the Conquest in April and have already booked her again! It was a great ship and we loved the ports!

  3. This is what I found online

    Triumph Class

Triumph class ships have a gross tonnage of 101,509 and a length of 893 feet. They cruise along at 21 knots and have accommodations for 2,758 passengers, with an average of two guests per room.

    Destiny Class

Carnival Cruise Lines has just one ship in the Destiny class, the Carnival Destiny. This ship is just slightly smaller than the Triumph class. The Carnival Destiny weighs 101,353 gross tons, is 892 feet long, cruises along at 21 knots per hour and can accommodate 2,642 passengers in shared guestrooms.

  4. The Destiny and Victory were not sister ships. The Triumph is the sister ship to the Victory. The Destiny was in a class all her own.

We will be on the Magic in a few weeks and I'm excited to try that class. Glad you had a good cruise!

  5. Our first cruise was on the Carnival Destiny when she was brand new. We thought the ship was beautiful and had a great time.

While on the Conquest a few months ago, we went to the future cruise desk to see about booking another cruise. The man working at the desk told us that, the Destiny, was the worst ship Carnival ever had. He said her reputation was so bad and it was the reason they entirely redid the ship. I was surprised to hear this since my husband and I really enjoyed the cruise. I wonder if he was correct in why they changed her.

Well, anyway we are booked on her for early next year. :D

  6. So I don't have any stories of ghosts on ships. I suppose that I've always to some degree believed in life after death. I do have an odd story that happened after my mom passed away.

My mom passed away in July/2006. She was cremated, we had a memorial service and then prepared to take a trip to Florida in August and bury my moms ashes next to my dad's.

We were planning on leaving on a Monday and this happened the Friday before we left. My husband and I went to Borders book store which is a huge book store. We entered and I immediately went to the ladies room and my husband went to the computer books. We never spoke to each other after we entered the store. When I came out of the ladies room I didn't see my husband around and I went to the books on metaphysical science's. I thought maybe I could buy a book on life after death to read on our trip to Florida. There was a woman in this section who was in a conversation with another customer. I was listening to her talk about how she was born with this gift and she was trying to develop these skills and saying that every morning and night you have to ask to be surrounded by the white light. To tell you the truth I thought this woman was crazy.

She saw that I was listening and started to talk to me. I asked her if she could recommend a book on life after deck. She told me she was going to be at a seminar on Sunday and I should stop by. I told her that my mom had recently died and we were going to bring her ashes to Florida and bury them next to my dads, and I still had to pack and stuff so we wouldn't have time to stop by. That's when I kind of laughed a little and said "so, do you see anything around me?". She got really quite and than said "I see 2 figures next to you". I didn't say anything to her but thought to myself....Of course you do! I just told you both my parents passed away. And this is were things got strange....

She told me she could hear them but they were really faint and they were calling Kathy, Kathy. I was confused, a million thoughts went through my mind...do I have some sort of name tag on, did my husband call my name in the store, maybe I told her my name or maybe I misunderstood what she said. So, I asked her to repeat the name again and she said "Kathy". I told her that was my name and I started to cry. She told me that my mother was right next to me and that she was with her brother. I told her "that's impossible, my mother was an only child". She was quiet again as if she was listening to something and than again she said "She is with her brother". Again I told her that was impossible. But she told me that my mom insisted it was her brother. No matter how many times I told her that my mom was an only child, she insisted it was my mom's brother.

She than put her hand on my arm and told me she wasn't feeling well. She told me that when this happens it means there was going to be a death or illness that would take place. She apologized if this was the wrong information but told me that when she felt like this that is what it usually meant. She also asked me if the number 2 meant anything to me because it kept coming up. I told her it didn't. She told me that this was only the second time she actually heard a name.

Before I end this story here are some interesting fact about my mother's father:

He was married to a woman in New York and they had 3 children together ( 2 boys and a girl).

He left them and went back to Italy.

He married someone else in Italy.

He left her and came back to the States.

He married my grandmother and they had one child (my mom)

Since he never got a divorce from any of these women he was never legally married to my grandmother.

He never took care of his children in New York and told his family that no one better tell my mom about them.

Mom mom had found out about them may years later and we asked her if she wanted us to try and find them for her but she said, no. She thought they would resent her because for father gave her a good life and she wouldn't have blamed them.

So, when the woman in the book store, insisted that my mom was with her brother that could have been right. Even though I kept telling this woman that my mom was an only child, she didn't back down about it being her brother.

2 weeks later my sister's mother-in-law suddenly got sick and passed away.

  7. One of the first thing I do for getting ready for my cruise is to go to the bank and get small bills for tipping. You never know who you may decide to tip extra. When I worked, I was a server and we depended on our tips so I know how important it is.

This is how we tipped on our last cruise...

    Pre-cruise:

    bellhop $20

    Hotel housekeeping $20 per day.

    Taxi around $10

dinning out 25% of bill...of course this is depending on service

    On the ship:

We prepaid all our gratuities when we pay our cruise in full

Extras we given to the following people

    Room steward $100

Dinning staff $30 ( not the best service here)

    Steakhouse $30

Bartender a tip is automatically add plus we tip and extra $2-$3

Dinning room for breakfast or brunch per day $5

    Room service $3-$6

    Ports:

This really depends on tours. I have seen people not tip at all and it really bothers me.

  8. We were on the Conquest the end of April beginning of May. Yes the ship needs to be dry docked but we really didn't look for all the wear and tear. We had a wonderful cruise and would cruise on her again in a heartbeat...in fact we booked her again for Sept/2018.

We loved all the food with the exception of the buffet. I tried and tried but just could not eat that food. We ate at the steakhouse twice....amazing! Guy's burgers were good but I did not like their french fries. Pizza was not bad and the Deli was very good. Room service was also very good.

Our room steward (Willy) was excellent! We found most of the staff to be happy and friendly with the exception of a couple of bartenders. Dining room staff was okay.

Overall we had a fantastic time! We are booked on the Magic Sept. 2017, Sunshine Feb. 2018 and the Conquest again Sept. 2018!

  9. We will be staying at the Homewood suites Orlando airport and are looking for reliable shuttle service to Port Canaveral pre cruise and from the port to Orlando Airport post cruise. The hotel offers a shuttle through a company ( I think it was AAA shuttle) for $50 per person round trip. Has anyone heard of this company? Besides renting a car what are other options. There are 4 of us.

  10. I was worried about cruising on the Conquest because I had read so many reviews about the food in the MDR being terrible. I thought the food was very good every night.

We also dined at the steakhouse. I heard that the free wine is almost undrinkable, so we received 50% off a bottle of your choice instead. The steakhouse is amazing!

  11. We had just stayed at the Residence Inn just west of the airport. There is really nothing within walking distance and no restaurant in the hotel. Next time we will stay at one of the hotels near 17th street. Most of them have shuttles but it's usually cheaper ( and you have more control over the time) when you take a taxi.

We were just on the Conquest and loved her so much that we've booked her for 2018 also!

  12. Thanks jim. But I guess i was thinking more about the overall "condition" of the 2 boats? Cleanlines, age, any refurbishing of rooms etc. We never go to the "pay' restaurants, and dont frequent many bars...but, I know that's imp. to a LOT of folks :)

If you do the Conquest, it would be worth it to try the steakhouse. It is well worth the extra charge and I believe you will find it one of the highlights of your cruise. She will be dry docked in September for refurbishments. After I booked this cruise, I was worried about the reviews saying that she badly needed to be refurbished. I was worried that my husband would not be happy with this older ship. But, he loved her. Although, she does need some TLC, we didn't seem to notice because we had such a good time!
