I cruised out of San Juan on the Fascination about 20 years ago. I can't believe this same ship is still doing this same cruise. I wish Carnival would replace her with a newer ship. We no longer choose to sail on the Fantasy class ships.

I am wondering the same thing. Our cruise starts on November 30 and ends December 8.

Good catch, Is as. True they are smaller, but location, location, location.
Our grand suite on the Horizon gives us access to the Havana pool area!

it is on the 5th floor among the Havana Cabana rooms, one on each side.
Could you be referring to the 'Havana Cabana Suites', which has 4 cabins? 2 on each side between the Havana Balcony suites. They are a lot smaller than the Grand Suites.

Just curious: a repositioning from NY to Port Canaveral would have to hit a “distant foreign port” - probably Aruba, or Cartagena or the like - meaning a fairly long itinerary. How would cost of JFK parking and car service to port line up against other options?
I’ve done comparable sailing from NY: car service direct to port, flying back and car service from airport home for total of $250 - and a whole lot less hassle.
We would much rather fly into Hartford, CT, coming home. It is a 15 day cruise. Maybe rent a car and drop off near the port in New York and have a family member pick us up in Hartford.

We will be doing a repositioning cruise that starts at the port in New York and ends in Port Canaveral. We live in Connecticut so we'll be driving to New York. We are thinking about parking our car at JFK and taking an Uber or Lyft to the port. How easy it is to get to the port from JFK? Does anyone know of the approx. cost?
Thank you
Kathy

In less than three hours I will have been around the sun fifty times... Not really the most exciting day of my life, but at least I don't have to go to work tomorrow...
In less than three hours my twin sister and I will have been around the sun 61 times! Happy Birthday Sid! I am enjoying this wonderful review and will be on the Horizon in another 9 weeks! My twin sister ( Eva) will be on her in Feb., she is also enjoying your review.

it's all cooked on the same flattop, not knowing where he cooked the fish on the table before you, might be hard to completely separate the fish, meat and chicken.
Thank you

I would like to do the Teppanyaki hibachi grill but my husband is allergic to shellfish. Will they cook his dinner separate.
Thanks!

Not anywhere close. The opening is only about, and I say about, 6 inches wide x 4 inches tall.
Thank you Joe.

Will a laptop fit into the cabin safe on the Horizon?
Thank you!

Focus on downtown Miami near the port ( Intercontinental, Holiday Inn, Doubletree, etc.) or in the Mary Brickell area (Hampton Inn and others) or in the South Beach portion of Miami Beach.
Thank you! I think we going to go with the Intercontinental.

Looking for a hotel in Miami for a 2 day pre-cruise stay. We would like a safe area with things to do within walking distance.
Thank!

BTW- how far is Penn Station from the cruise terminal?

I have never been on a train and I'm always asking him to take me on one. He says he hate's riding on a train especially with that much luggage. He told me it's not as nice as it looks.

Thank you Turtles06 for the great suggestion. I will look into renting a car. My husband WILL NOT take a train. LOL

We are doing a re-positioning cruise that leaves from Manhattan and returns to Port Canaveral. We live in Connecticut and it's about a 2-3 hour ride to the Manhattan cruise terminal. On the way home we would rather fly into Bradley (Hartford, Ct) than JFK. Here are the different transportation we are considering.
1) Rent a car and driver to bring us to the cruise terminal ( $300-$350) the night before the cruise, stay at a hotel close to the port. Have my daughter pick us up in Hartford when we get back.
2) Drive to JFK ourselves the night before the cruise, park in long term parking, take a taxi to a hotel near the port. On the way home fly into JFK and our car will be waiting for us.
Anyone have any suggestions such as the best hotels near the port that is in a safe area? Has anyone parked their car at JFK if they are not flying out of there?

they didn't have any when we were on her

We have booked one of the excel suites for the 15 day re-positioning cruise. We always try to book a suite and I'm happy to see Carnival is finally offering more perks for guests who do. We enjoy the extra room, especially on the balcony and in the bathroom, so it is worth it to us. It's all a matter of what you enjoy.

Thank you! We are on the same sailing!

We just booked our first Journey's cruise. What should we expect? I have heard that these cruises do have a midnight buffet. How many formal nights? The cruise will be a 15 day re-positioning.
Thanks!
