  1. Good point about the wine. We are not wine drinkers and would be hard pressed to hit $80/day in drinks! But I never thought about wine prices.
  2. Be sure to get your car rental plenty early. I looked into this for our cruise last May and one way rentals were expensive and hard to find. Ultimately we stuck with our plan to fly home from YVR instead of SEA.
  3. Of course. I was reacting to @kiwimum who said theirs was put on the shipboard account. Preferable for the cruiser, but not for Princess.
  4. I would consider a 7 day cruise to be a 'normal' length cruise. 3/4/5 days are 'short'. 10+ is 'long'. Of course this is my reference point. Looking forward to when I have the time to cruise for more than a 10-day.
  5. I think I would be happier with refundable OBC rather than FCC, which would mean I would have to book or sail again before it expired.
  6. It is literally 2 twins pushed together. Its not as big as our king bed at home but was fine for us.
  7. I was on Regal March 2022. I would not at all consider her as 'old'. Dont worry that its not Enchanted or Discovery. You will be fine!
  8. I had no upgrade marked but was still able to bid, and in fact my offer was accepted.
  9. I think it has to depend on supply and demand.I sailed on Royal last week, and had a low upgrade bid accepted to go from balcony to mini. I checked at the time I bid and there were lots of minis available. Pretty sure we sailed sold out or close to it.
  10. My daughter did a load of laundry last week and the clothes were dry enough after one round in the dryer. Personally I never send clothes out to be laundered, free or not. I would rather handle them myself.
  11. My thoughts exactly, at $40 it was a given, at $50 it was a convenience although pretty sure we did not come out ahead money-wise. At $60 its a no. I cruised last week w/o it, bought drinks when I wanted them, and came out ahead. For me personally, they have priced me out. Obviously its still of value to many others. My wish is they would have lower priced pkg with less than 15 max drinks for light drinkers. But that is likely not financially beneficial to Princess.
  12. So when is the ideal time to avoid such weather conditions for this itinerary? Serious question as this is one of my 'bucket list' cruises
  13. The timing largely depends on your port time. I was just on Royal with a late departure and it was scheduled for 7pm. Last year's cruise it was more late afternoon like 4pm.
  14. Huge gelato sundaes and some big cakes. This has ruined the gelato experience for me. I was a big fan of the gelato, back when they had maybe 8-10 flavors daily including a no sugar added flavor. Last week on Royal there were only 4 flavors to start, which dwindled down to 2 by the end of the cruise. And no sugar free available on my last 3 cruises.
  15. So sorry you are missing all of these ports. We all know it can happen but never expect it will happen to us! So disappointing... hopefully they will get you in somewhere, and offer some compensation or FCC. I am considering a similar cruise for next year and wondering if this is common or if it is seasonal?
  16. So now we all want to know...what happened at the magic show ???
  17. Well, maybe not a massage unless you are certain they like that sort of thing!
  18. This is so sweet of you and your sister! No worries about not having one of the Plus packages, they can pay for drinks as they go (I just did this). If you want you could do a low-end upgrade bid to an oceanview or balcony stateroom, if you think they would like that. Otherwise I would add any remaining money as on board credit or give as cash to spend. I am sure they will love this gift!
  19. The Royal class ships do have areas towards aft on Promenade deck with seating. I was sitting there yesterday on Royal Princess. But its definitely not the wraparound Promenade deck that the earlier ships have.
  20. Little update. Just ran into someone at my gate who was also on Royal. She had just arrived at the gate at 10:45am. She said there were delays in getting luggage off the ship. Maybe someone who experienced this will post. Walk-off is the way to go if you can manage it. We had 2 full size suitecases plus a carry-on and a backpack.
  21. We were on Royal and used a taxi, they are lined up waiting right outside the building. Just happened to chat with someone here at the gate who also disembarked Royal. She said they had to wait a really long time for luggage and just got to the gate at 10:45am. Self-disembark/walk-off seems to be the way to go!
  22. Thanks for clarifying, I forgot about that little detail! Yes I clicked the red box with the link in the email and took the copy of the card to guest services and they applied it.
  23. Just off the Royal and I kinda agree with you on the itinerary. Much prefer a north or southbound but wanted the ease of a Seattle RT this time. Still a great cruise, but not enough time in Ketchikan and I missed the scenic cruising and second glacier day.
  24. Disembarkation at Pier 91 was smooth today. We were walk-off and were at our gate at the airport at 9am.
  25. Somone asked me to come back and report on disembarkation today. Happy to say I am sitting at the gate waiting for our 11:45am flight. Disembarkation was scheduled for 8am but they started walk-off before 7:30am. No real lines to speak of, walked off, through security, directly to taxi, checked bags at airport. TSA pre-check line took 10-15 minutes. Cabin to gate in less than 1.5 hrs. Although I realize you never know what any given day will bring, today couldnt have been any smoother. FYI...Princess was offering transportation at the exit of the port building for $25pp which I think is less than pre-booking. Our taxi was $65 but worth it for the convenience.
