A word of caution about those medallions...
Buckeye10640 replied to c25andeb's topic in Princess Cruises
Understand your point but that will be even more work for busy bartenders. And they would need to install pin pads or have us entering pins on handheld devices, etc. I think not.... -
A word of caution about those medallions...
Buckeye10640 replied to c25andeb's topic in Princess Cruises
I dont necessarily consider it a medallion issue. Before medallions there were cards but still, mistakes happened. It is best to check your charges at least daily. Any incorrect charges I reported were immediately removed. -
I thought thats how you attempt to 'win' the prizes....by opening and closing your door during time windows when 'Prizes' is active ?? Edit....ok its semantics...technically its unlock and not open but kinda the same thought....

This is why I am not sure I agree with the 'guarantee cabins are the ones nobody wants' theory. I would book both of those cabins you got without a second thought. Not guarantee, but I did an upgrade bid which is a bit like guarantee in that you can be assigned anywhere on the ship. I was pleased with my balcony upgraded to to mini location, which was just down the hall from my original cabin. But anytime you dont choose a specific cabin its a gamble...

Princess transfer to port the day BEFORE?
Buckeye10640 replied to FirstTeacher's topic in Princess Cruises
I have been reading and posting on this board for several years. I dont even know what the 'follow box at the top' is?? -
I was on Royal in May, and we had a private excursion booked with a 915am meet time. We picked up tender tickets at the Photo Gallery around 815, had a short wait before our group was called, and were at the pier by 845. Note, our ship docked early, maybe 6am. You could not request tender tickets the night before as someone else mentioned. You were to get tickets when your party was present and ready to go ashore, and then were to stay in the general piazza area to hear your group called.

Princess Vacation Protection - air coverage?
Buckeye10640 replied to phabric's topic in Princess Cruises
Here is my one experience with Princess Insurance. I booked a short 5 day last minute cruise. Normally I would buy private insurance but my PVP automatically added Princess insurance and so I went with it. Booked my own flights. The morning of disembarkation I get a text from SW notifying me that my flight was cancelled and to go to the website and rebook my flight. No SW flights out of FLL or a nearby airport that would get us anywhere near home for a couple days and other airlines flights were cancelled or full as well. This was early March 2022, anyone flying into or out of FLL that weekend will likely remember this! Anyway Princess Insurance (thru AON) reimbursed our hotel, food, and taxi/Uber cost even though the air was not booked via Princess EZAir. It was considered trip delay. -
Yeah thats crazy that you can only view menus in the app if you have a reservation. And.... I found if my dinner reservation was not for the same dining room open for breakfast and lunch I could not see those menus. Surely there is a simple way to make menus available in the app to everyone!

Bottled Water on Princess with Plus
Buckeye10640 replied to New2cruise2022's topic in Princess Cruises
Most recently I have seen Kirkland (Costco Brand). I have also seen Crystal Geyser, I think. Its all the same to me so I dont pay alot of attention, but I did find it funny they had Kirkland brand! This is on US sailings, maybe it varies elsewhere. -
I would give Princess a try again and make your own decision, and would not consider any bad advice or negative interaction from by a single employee years ago factor into it.

Caribbean Princess Reviews (in the Caribbean)
Buckeye10640 replied to latebuyer's topic in Princess Cruises
To me, Princess Cay, Amber Cove, Grand Turk are basically beach days, but you could walk around some and shop at Amber Cove and Grand Turk. Princess Cay is indeed a tender port. I am to the point where I may consider staying on board next time I visit Princess Cay and enjoying the ship. Have not been on Carribean Princess so cant comment, but have been looking at her due to the lower price points. Gets very mixed reviews. -
A question for Royal Princess cruisers
Buckeye10640 replied to hinterlandboyz2's topic in Princess Cruises
Agree with earlier posters, there is no outlet at the bedside tables. My husband packs his own long extension cord and we carry a multi-prong power strip (w/o surge protector). Once we did have to request an extension cord, they did provide a very thick heavy duty long cord (i think our steward had to really search for it, we requested after boarding when we realized we forgot ours, and it was a full ship). -
My opinion is no. Many will say yes. Only you can decide.

We were at Princess Cay both in dec 2021 and 2022. Both times with Princess Plus. They did not charge me for soft drinks. Maybe I was lucky! I have also read the 'new' Princess Plus includes canned soft drinks ( cannot confirm, have not sailed under the new pkg). If so that probably makes it a moot point.....
-
Well actually they opened the can and poured it into a cup....but yes, it was not a fountain drink. Most recently in December 2022.

Good tip, we have done that and had a choice of loungers. We have also done the opposite, waited and gone over for a late lunch. Some go back to the ship after lunch and we were able to pick up some empty chairs that way.

Sometimes I don't think cruise lines understand us
Buckeye10640 replied to Honolulu Blue's topic in Solo Cruisers
Some solo cruisers are not necessarily looking to meet people, dine at a table of 8, have special solo cruise activities, etc. Some just want to do their own thing. What I would like, though, is to to find an affordable way to cruise solo without paying for 2 people!- 34 replies

Yes there is shade, both under shelters and under trees. Clamshells get hot! But they are closer to the ocean if thats important to you.

I dont think you are really supposed to do this. I have never tried ordering anything notboffered on the card, but I have read others post that sometimes it works and sometimes not. Options are limited for efficiency. Imagine the chaos if everyone was ordering anything they wanted with no restrictions!

No workaround for the soda, I just ordered it at Princess Cay and was never charged. I had the Plus pkg.

International Cafe specialty coffee question
Buckeye10640 replied to Bjbilly's topic in Princess Cruises
IC has a sugar-free unflavored liquid sweetener syrup, but basically, no. No SF flavored syrups, no SF frozen coffee drink options, etc. that I have seen. I have seen a few folks report a SF vanilla syrup on their cruise but I ask every cruise and its never been available. I take my own. -
On Enchanted it shallow, like 3 ft. I recall it was deeper on Regal.
