    Vickys House for awesome milkshakes.

Lokal is a local burger spot.

Glass and Vine is a great place for a weekend brunch.

But I would make sure to head outside of the Grove, check out Brickell, Wynwood and Miami Beach. Highly suggest Yardbird right off Lincoln Road (make reservations).

Of course Cuban food should be on the menu a long with some seafood. River Oyster Bar or Garcias are my favorite seafood spots.

Thanks for the suggestions!  Brickell/Wynnwood/MB all already on the short list:)

My experience with off site rental companies has not been great unless you get there very early.  In Jan, I dropped off a car at Alamo on my way to the ship and the place was a zoo.  It was not adequately staffed to assist with drop offs and new car rentals.  My experience was pretty much the same with Hertz.  Maybe some of the other companies have better service.

I am renting from Alamo in Miami (airport arrival/pre-cruise) and returning the day of cruise at the Ellen Street location.  Sounds like dropping off was a bit of a nightmare for you...what time were you there?  I will be traveling with my young daughter and will have a few large suitcases in tow.  Wanting to also bring a case of Fiji water but wondering if it may be too cumbersome?  Does the shuttle drop off at the port near porters or is there a decent amount of walking involved? Any help you can provide is appreciated.

    • Car rental shuttle buses DO NOT travel between Port Everglades Cruise Terminals and Fort Lauderdale Airport
    • Car rental shuttle buses DO NOT travel between Port Everglades rental offices and the Fort Lauderdale Airport Car Rental Center
    • Car rental shuttle buses ONLY travel between Port Everglades Cruise Terminals and Port Everglades car rental offices!

Thus, after your cruise you will not find a car rental shuttle bus waiting to take you to the airport car rental center! You will be taken to a Port location (along Route 1) where you meet your rental vehicle. No shuttles to the airport and no shuttles elsewhere such as 17th Street.

Here are Port Everglades car rental offices with port shuttles:

Thank you for this info!  I am renting from Alamo in Miami (airport arrival/pre-cruise) and returning the day of cruise at the Ellen Street location.  How easy is the shuttle service to the port?  I will be traveling with my young daughter and will have a few large suitcases in tow.  Wanting to also bring a case of Fiji water but wondering if it may be too cumbersome?  Does the shuttle drop off at the port near porters or is there a decent amount of walking involved? 4. I've rented a guest house in Coconut Grove for a few days pre-cruise (we are not far from the Vizcaya).  Any must do's, great restaurants and/or places to stay away from?  Thanks in advance for suggestions:-).

Due to all the unrest in San Juan at the present time, is the Celebrity Equinox still stopping in San Juan on their Western Caribbean cruises?  Can anyone confirm if they stopped there last Monday, July 22nd?

They did not stop but I'm not sure if they called on another port or just had an additional sea day.

Posted this on Florida board but thought my fellow Celebrity cruisers might have some fun ideas:

I've hired Larry's Limos to fetch us from Port Everglades after our cruise ends (9ish).  We have a flight out of Miami at 3 pm.  Looking for ideas for what to do (i.e. great place somewhere in between for brunch, a little sightseeing/cool drives, etc.). Thanks everyone for your help!

Your cruise line excursions would probably be easiest.  They will drop you off at the airport.

Or are you having Larry's Limos drive you around all day and hold your luggage?

Luggage (sans carry-ons) will go with Luggage Valet and the excursions offered by Celebrity don't interest us (Everglades=too hot/buggy in August). I'm looking for other options:).

On Equinox....There is one that is a "competition" between tiny chefs from different countries, so each course is from a different chef in the competition.  The other is the single chef LPC making each course for you.  They are each done for half of the cruise.

Did you prefer one over the other?  Are the menus different? Thanks!

So my ship is in port from 3:30-9:30 and I SO wanted to do this tour.  Problem is, the tour begins at 7:15, is roughly an hour and a half long and the site is a 70 minute drive from the port. Further, unless you have a rental car, the lady who  contacted said a RT taxi is about $200 (not sure of the Uber scene there?).

PS_ Thank you Stingr-PR and Greg00ss for giving us the site/info.  Hopefully someone will be able to swing the times:)

  11. Booked an AQ cabin on an upcoming cruise and am wondering what the amenities look like post revolution?

Does anyone know what kind of shampoo/conditioner is offered?  Are Q-tips?cotton balls offered upon request?  Would like to hear about any/all AQ amenities on the Equinox.

    Much appreciated!

Disappointed hear that musty pillows are still in cabins and threadbare carpets...thought that those issue would have been addressed in drydock (carpet) and the musty "new" pillows would be gone this many weeks into "post dry dock" sailing

The jewelry thing re Captn Kate is unprofessional and sexist.

Are the men selling watches? cufflinks?

She is a Captn of a vessel and the oddness of the fan pages on Fb, pics of the ugly furless cat and the jewelry hawking is tacky

Keep it classy. No need to attack a harmless (and adorable) animal. I'm sailing on August 3rd and am now quite interested in seeing the jewelry that has a few of you so riled up.

Had a chat with the partner.  If I can find a reasonably quiet cabin mid ship, then we will try Aqua.

Because I just researched this for myself (when I snagged a cabin toward the aft), I'd say, based on current availability that cabins 1519 or 1529 are your best shots at peace and quiet.  One is under the Persian Garden and the other looks to be under the acupuncture area.

Those cabins seem to go quickly.

I keep a close eye on the inventory and one of the coveted 28 (not under pool/spa) just popped up a few days ago. I upgraded from an A1 category (and paid nothing extra!) for our August 3rd sailing.

The only idea I have for Tortola is a visit to the humane society, the facility was badly-damaged by Irma and Maria but they have rebuilt and may welcome visitors. Other than the famous snorkel spots I don’t know of any animal adventure-type things, sorry. Perhaps someone on your roll call who has been to Tortola recently would have an idea?

For St Thomas check our Coral World on Coki Beach to see it that sounds like anything you would want -

    Thanks so much:-)

I have done this many times without issue. Actually just got mine last week for my July sailing.

So to see if I could do this now I just tried it and I could replicate the issue you are having IF I select the 'Mail my luggage tags' from the main screen on my booking.  However if you try the following I think it should work for you.  Don't ask why, just be happy if/when it works LOL.

Select 'Manage Reservation' from main reservation window.

Select 'Before You Board' tab (furthest right nearer top)

Select 'Luggage Tags' on left hand side

Scroll to bottom of all the jargon and select 'Mail Me Luggage Tags' from there.

Good luck.  Nothing funner than getting luggage tags in the mail!!!!!

You're a genius.  This worked. Thank you!

IMO not worth the extra charge for AQ  .  First the cabins all are under the gym spa and pool area and can be noisy.  The size of the cabin is the same as a balcony.  You get a "perks" a smelly atomizer, a different shower head- which I hate as I find in wets my hair and of course I must use a shower cap, and snacks and tea which aren't worth anything.   Blu, IMO isn't great- it is however a private restaurant, but the tables are on top of each other with eh food isn't worth it.  I would suggest, consider a well located cabin, with cabins above and below and dine a few times in speciality restaurants.  If you find you like the persian garden, use it a couple of sea days- financially you will be ahead.  This is just my opinion based on a few cruises in AQ.  Most others in regular balcony or suites.  PS- we really enjoy the equinox and will be on her again in a few weeks.

    Enjoy your cruise

I just booked a cabin in AQ which has cabins above/below.  Granted, there aren't many, but they do exist.

  18. Getting off Celebrity in Port Everglades but flight out of Miami doesn't leave until 2:55.  I see the hop on off bus excursion offered by my cruise line but it says all flights must leave later than 3:30. Is this because they want you there 2 hrs. prior? Anyone know what time they actually drop you off at the airport in Miami?  I'm willing to live dangerously and risk the 35 min.

    Thoughts/experiences?

And there are other points of interest that I’m sure I’m missing and you can discover as you drive, this route is just highlighting the beautiful beaches and a couple points of interest. If someone just wanted a relaxing day away from the crowds with a beach and/or snorkeling and a restaurant I would suggest a taxi to Trellis Bay and ferry to Marina Cay. But Tortola is a beautiful island with spectacular views from the mountain and a drive is a great way to get to know her! Hope you both enjoy your visit and can return for a longer stay...

Thank you again! We'll be taking our beach day and the ferry over to St. John so are up to a fun adventure while on Tortola.  Also, we live at the beach so it's never really too high on our list.  My daughter loves all things relating to animals.  Are there any animal adventures/cool things to visit you might recommend (on Tortola, St. Thomas, San Juan or Nassau)?

We head out the 13th of this month, so guess I'll be sharing our experience, lol.

Oh Wow, have SO much fun.  I'd love to hear back from you with any pointers re: the rental process, cool places to hit, etc.  Are you following BlueWater's driving tour?

Thank you for the insight.  I ended up making a reservation for a Jeep with Enterprise, so hopefully all works out well.  I think I already have your itinerary bookmarked from the post you made in Dec of last year, but always open to more feedback.  Thanks for the help.

When are you cruising?  I've made the same Ressie (Enterprise/Jeep) for a cruise in August.  Happy to share my experience (if I'm headed there first) and would love to hear yours.

If you're not into eating at restaurants in port (Old San Juan in loaded with them) or bar hopping (lots of great places) or shopping, check out a tour to the Fajardo Bio Bay. It only runs at night since you're taken by kayak or by electric boat (recently back up running) into a bay full off dinophagellates. They are microorganisms that live in the water and glow in the dark when agitated. It's a pretty awesome experience so long there's not a full moon out. It's basically the only off-the-beaten-path tour available in the evenings that comes to mind. If shopping in the old city leaves you wanting more you can catch a cab to Plaza Las Americas mall, about 20 minutes away. The mall closes at 9pm so you'll have plenty of time to get back using either Uber or taxis.

Do you happen to know the name of the company that does boat tours to El Fajardo/Bio Bay?
