Pretty sure there were the normal wine tastings - one free for Elite and one for $25.  We didn't go to either, so don't know any more than that.

Winemaker's was Tuesday and Chef's Table was Wednesday (we boarded on Saturday).

Thanks so much for the info:).

I don't know about mirroring, but connecting via HDMI cable depends on the model of TV in the cabin. I saved this from someone's CC post several years ago (with thanks to the original poster). It worked for me on Ruby Princess in Nov 2019, maybe it will help:

"Just got off the Aug 11 sailing on the Caribbean Princess to the western Caribbean. Will likely write up a complete review later, but for reference, it is possible to connect your HDMI device to the new TVs that are part of OceanView/Ocean Medallion on Caribbean Princess. Our room had new 4K LG TVs that were roughly 40-45 inches.

The procedure is a bit tricky and unintuitive, but here is the procedure:

    1.    Connect your HDMI device to the HDMI port on the left side of the TV. Use the open HDMI above the ethernet port used by the the OceanView box.

    2.    Using the remote, launch one of the live TV channels. The bridge camera or the ship information channel usually work, but you may have to try one of the live TV channels (e.g. MSNBC).

    3.    Reach under the middle of the TV to find the on-TV directional jogger. Press in once to open the circular four-way menu, then toggle left and select the input selector. A menu will open on the right side of the TV. There should be a red dot next to "Live TV" (if the dot is next to HDMI, you didn't do step two correctly).
    4.    Toggle down to HDMI and select it. This should successfully switch the input to your HDMI device."

Turning off the TV when finished, reset it to the original input when turned back on.

A Chromecast device, casting movies from my phone, also worked for me on Ruby. The trick here is not so much the physical connections, but setting up a local wireless network connected to MedallionNet. The advantage is that it also gives you all your streaming services.

    Boom, thank you!

  3. Headed out on the Majestic in a few weeks and since its awards season, I want to bring my laptop in case I want to watch any of the new movies.  is it possible to mirror my laptop to one of the televisions in the room? Thanks in advance.

    Hello

We have a LA to LA cruise booked for March - I was thinking of taking the train to San Francisco afterwards (it actually goes to Emeryville) - the ship docks at 7am and I know you can leave the ship early and carry your own luggage. Do you think this will all work out okay for a 09.50 train.

    Thanks

LA native here: which day of the week? If you're off the ship and in a cab/uber by 7:30, you could be at Union Station by 8:30 (on a Saturday or Sunday) no problem.  Once at Union Station, you'll need 15-20 min to navigate the moderate walk to the trains.

There was a Chef's Table and a Winemaker's Dinner on our early November Majestic cruise.  No galley tour but otherwise, it was the same.  Chef's Table was amazing!  We liked the food on Winemaker's, but were disappointed there were only a few wines actually.

Do you recall if they held the Chef's Table on Tuesday night (Mazatlan)? How about the WInemaker's?

Great to know, thanks!  Any other fun culinary/alcohol events on your voyage?  A few years back I remember going to a daytime wine/tasting event which was fab.

Kathy &Bob. From Iowa. We are also on the 2/19 22 majestic cruise.  We would like to do the chiefs table. I have checked with our agent and princess. From I understand you need to book at the customer service desk.

Welcome!  Yes, I typically call once in my cabin to let them know I'm interested. The invitation usually arrives the next day and if my memory serves me, the last time it was held on Tuesday (Mazatlan?) evening.

I did the Winemaker's Dinner on the Majestic in August. It was $40. I enjoyed it a lot, but it's not the equivalent of the Chef's Table. The Chef's Table is way too much food for me even though I enjoyed all three I've done.

Here is the menu we enjoyed. The amuse guele not described on the menu turned out to be a tasty escargot vol-au-vent with port wine reduction. A champagne cocktail made with vanilla vodka and watermelon syrup accompanied it. That's also missing from the menu description. I made the cocktail when we had guests at the beach. It's a great combination.

Here’s what I know from other posts. Of course no galley tours. I’m of the understanding that the Majestic has a Winemakers Dinner which I have a group of 12 people for the 2/26/22 sailing which I’m going to ask for. I understand it’s around $60 against $90 or more for the Chef’s dinner & similar food. I’ve heard that there was a Chef’s Table on one of the Majestic cruises.

I’ve been on 2 cruises on the Ruby & requested it for our CC group but they never did one.

My understanding is that the Winemakers dinner is only offered on the Royal Class ships the others have the chef’s dinner.

I’m also on the 2/19/22 cruise & am going to see if I can get a reservation to see what they do. Curious if the do either the Winemakers or Chef’s dinner or both. Since I’ve never been able to experience the Winemakers dinner I would like to experience that at least once.

One post said that they started in Vines first and then went to the restaurant for dinner.

    Tom😀

I've never done the Winemaker's either and would be interested in experiencing it as well. Please let me know if you find out any more about it.

Although there is no Galley visit, the four bite-sized appetizers usually served in the Galley are now presented in a single plate at the table in the dining room.  There is no change to the price as the amount of food served is identical to what was served before.

Thank you for the info and I'm happy it's still being offered (sans the galley).

    In a heartbeat.

I've done 3 Antarctica expeditions that were 30+ days. Then when I did a 24 day one it felt rushed and too short. I know I am fine splitting my time between sightseeing, resting, sea days, meeting people, or just doing my own thing when I need space.

Whenever friends and I are talking about what we would do with a big lotto win - multiple round the world cruises are always at the top of our lists.

Medications - simple - would just ask my doctor for whatever I need in bulk. I do that for all lengthy travels. And since my city has been in lockdown 6 times for over 260 days we have adapted procedures for meds now. All our prescriptions are now electronic - straight to my phone by SMS, then forward SMS to pharmacist who then posts it (or hand delivers) the same day.

So if there was a medication that could only be prescribed in small volume (Aus is more relaxed about it for travellers so it's never been an issue) I would just pick a future destination on my dream itinerary and have it sent there to an address suggested by the cruise line.

Years ago I wrote a packing list for a year long cruise based on various blogs I had read here on CC. And a friend did a 4 month one (2 ships) a few years ago and I helped her plan it and then we rejigged our lists based on her experience afterwards. So I'm ready to go as soon as I win lotto !!! 🚢💰💰💰💰💰

I would love to see that list!

  12. One of my fave traditions is to book the Chef's Table.  Headed out on the 2/19/22 sailing of the Majestic and wondering if the CT is an option since the re-start?  Has anyone done it and if so, was it modified (i.e. no galley visit, etc.).

    Thanks!

Went to site.  Requires me to log in before any information.  Please explain procedure?  Is this a day or two before cruising?  Is it the same location that they are testing all of the Hawaii cruisers (crowds)?  Thanks for more information.

Yes, you must create an account, verify that account via the email you used, then go back and schedule/pay. It's testing right at the port so it makes sense to do it the day of embarkation. The downside is if you test positive, that's a tough pill to swallow being there all packed and ready to board.

    Hi,

I am new to Princess and I am trying to make a solo booking on the website.  What lured me was the inclusion of drinks, wifi, gratuity, etc in the Best Sale Ever (BSE).  But when I use the booking tool, and switch to a single in the cabin it changes the offer to OBC and 40% off.  Is there a way to switch this?  Or do I already have this? It is a bit confusing.

    Thanks,
    PammyMouse

Following- if you figure out a way to switch it, please update! I booked yesterday and I have the option of paying for the gratuity on my personalizer so it was automatically added.

Is Princess having the rate unicorn solo sale? Are you saying that the solo price for the cruise you are looking at is not double the regular price??? I want to book that!! Please let me know what date / area you're looking at

I grabbed an amazing mini-suite at this solo rate (2/19 to MR).  I also lost the drinks/wifi/etc., package that the OP spoke of but the price was so low that I couldn't pass it up!

I just happen to be 104 days out as well. Are you traveling on the Sky or the Crown?

Anyways.....I was able to place our medallion order in the app back on 9/10, and it's showing as "in progress". You may want to delete the app and reinstall it.  Make sure you using the new all-in-one version, Medallion Class app, which combines all of the earlier separate apps.

CineGraphic is spot on.  Make sure you are downloading the newer MedallionClass app from the app store.  Using the old Ocean Ready app alone could be the cause of your problems.  Once you are in MedallionClass app it will give you an option to load Ocean Ready.  Use that version.

I've downloaded the correct app and input all information (passports, etc.) but when it gets to the final screen to order the medallions, the app crashes and sends me back to my iPhone home screen.  I've deleted and reinstalled the app as well.  I guess I may just have to make a phone call.  I want to order different accessories(bracelet, etc.) as well.  Is that possible to do on any other site other than through this app?

I appreciate your help with this.
