One of the problems in the world is that many people seem to think rules do not apply to them or do it until you get caught..

I could say something about Princess violating the terms of their probation, but I won't. My question was about water since the restart as Princess makes the following statement in the "environmentally friendly" section of their website:

By the end of 2021, we have committed to reduce or eliminate these single-use items from all ships:

    • Plastic trash can liners
    • Plastic water bottles

This statement, coupled with reading somewhere on the Cruise Critic boards that plastic water bottles are no longer allowed to be brought onboard, is what prompted me to ask.

I hope to hear from people who have sailed within the last six or so months.

  2. I just had an online "chat" with Princess and the gal who responded said guests are allowed to bring water bottles, soda, and juice as long as they are sealed. She also said guests must carry these items on. Has that always been the policy?

I'm still interested to hear from anyone who has successfully checked water bottles with their luggage since the restart.

Was there not some mew restriction on bringing plastic bottles onboard?  Might want to check on it.

I remember seeing something about it (which is why I posted).

As to the comment from @Valiamo, I'm not fond of the water Princess offers for purchase (though yes, far cheaper than the brand I like) and want to bring on my own.

I’m not sure about the shared tables. We were a party of two and actually we only ate there for breakfast and lunch. We had specialty dining three nights out of four. Service was wonderful in Club Class.  I will check and see if anyone is posting live and ask them if they can ask for you.  I have been on three solo cruises and I loved them but I usually don’t share a table with anyone. Enjoy your cruise!

Great to hear about the service:-). Thank you!

I was on this cruise also. Club class dining had fantastic service, Mary and Fatima were both  wonderful servers.  The only disappointment was the money I lost in the casino....lol   Seriously,  I loved the ship, crew and festive decorations

I'm headed out solo for the first time and am also in Club Class.  Do you recall if there were "shared tables" there? Do you remember if it's possible to eat there for lunch on embarkation day? Thanks!

Thank you so much for doing this.  I too am previously NCL only.  I am on Princess for the first time 02/19 then on the Bliss 02/27 with similar itineraries.  I too could not resist the single supplement.  I had only planned the Bliss, but it costs so much to get to LA I thought why not stay an extra week?

I also couldn't resist the single supplement and am headed out on the 2/19 sailing.  We have a group getting together for a sail away cocktail and winemakers and Chef's Table suppers if interested.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I think we will book the 12:12 return flight.

One other question. It seems EZ air with Princess is basically the same price of American Airlines. We are flying in a day early so being late should not be an issue.

Any pro's or con's on going with EZ air compared to direct with airlines?

I thought I saw where EZ air could not guarantee seat selection.

Anyone ever had problems with seat selection using EZ air?

Native So Cal gal here and trust me when I tell you LAX is a mess these days.  You'll want to give yourself a min of two hours before your flight to get through security, etc. If it were me, I'd grab that 1:00PM flight and have a leisurely breakfast and self-debark.  Worst case scenario, you get into LAX (often times there's a ton of traffic just to be dropped off) and through security without major delays and can have a light lunch/cocktail before your flight.

Sorry, I haven't used EZ air so don't have an opinion on that.

Welcome to our Roll Call (and to Princess- you're going to have a great week!)

Well, I guess I'll see when I get there, because no one has posted about this balcony on the Crown, just the CB. I am just curious as to why it shows a regular extended balcony in the Princess book.

If anyone has been in this room A747 on Crown, I'd love to hear from you!

I've sailed in that cabin twice and LOVE it.  You picked a winner!

The problem with your attempt at a solution is that the practice of upgrading people randomly without prior notice is an industry standard policy. All cruise lines do it but you do not find out until it happens to you. If you read the small print in the contract it is amazing what cruise lines are allowed to do.  They only need to house you in a cabin of the grade you have contracted either direct or through a travel agent.  If you book a ten night cruise with six ports of call they may not call at any ports whatsoever prior to returning to the original port. This would be down to safety and hurricanes etc.

    Regards John

I've sailed on dozens of cruises and this is a first. I guess I've been lucky (until now).

Which is why I said: "did you ask your TA/Princess rep to mark your booking that you would not accept an upgrade?"

If you make the booking online by yourself, you must then call Princess to ask that the proper option is checked.

I did not know that was their policy! That's ridiculous to expect customers to call after selecting a cabin when hold times are at an all time high (which is why I will think long and hard before selecting Princess over Celebrity, at least until they get it together).

I received an “upgrade” , but I’m doing a B2B and now have to change cabins between cruises.  Sent an email, and still no response.  Tired of wasting my life on hold with their so called customer service.

Call at 6AM and select "make a new reservation"...you'll get through;-).

@john watson where do I find the place to tick no upgrades?  I’ve looked ay my profile and don’t see an option.  Thanking you in advance.

There isn't a box to click when you purchase from their site. When I select, "I'll choose my stateroom" and pay my fare in full, it's assumed that I will receive the stateroom for which I paid.  When I explained this to the Princess rep (after being on hold for an hour), it was agreed that Princess should change this feature on their site and my complaint was noted. At an absolute MINIMUM, Princess should give the customer 48 hours to accept the offer (as opposed to decline it) when they pull these shenanigans.  I will think twice now before I pick Princess over Celebrity due to this policy and the insane amount of time spent to correct this "upgrade".

I always thought it was strange the way Princess treats passengers differently at the Chef's Table in terms of the cookbooks and roses. Straight couples usually get one cookbook and a rose. Gay couples get two cookbooks. Lesbian couples get two cookbooks and two roses.

And guests who bring their young daughter with an amazing palate get EVERYTHING!

I did the Winemaker's Dinner on the Majestic in August. It was $40. I enjoyed it a lot, but it's not the equivalent of the Chef's Table. The Chef's Table is way too much food for me even though I enjoyed all three I've done.

Here is the menu we enjoyed. The amuse guele not described on the menu turned out to be a tasty escargot vol-au-vent with port wine reduction. A champagne cocktail made with vanilla vodka and watermelon syrup accompanied it. That's also missing from the menu description. I made the cocktail when we had guests at the beach. It's a great combination.

It is not so much an offer as a policy Princess seem to have implemented with Dolphin deck.  I do not think you will be successful in getting your original cabin back because it seem the cruise line need this area cleared out.  When you  get through on the phone I suggest you focus on getting an upgrade to a much better cabin stressing that the cruise line has not really done this and it is at their behest.  I suspect the reason they are doing this type of thing is to comply with local government regulations.

    Regards John

Thanks so much for the advice.  I did manage to get my sweet M105 forward cabin back from the A333 they "upgraded" me to.  I was planning to do exactly as you suggest had they not been able to accommodate my original request (and return what I paid for).

    I would send a message to customerrelations@princesscruises.com

and tell them how long your holding and ask for their help!  They may call you back.  They work it by date of departure.

Or, just hold since you’re holding so long.

I found the best time to call the 1 800 Princess line, is as soon as they open in the morning.

Thanks so much, I finally got through and they changed it back. What a hassle!

  17. This just happened to me and I'm beyond frustrated as I sit on hold for hour number 2!  Is there any other way to decline this offer (email, alternate #, etc.) and what happens if I can't get through over the next 48hours?  This is beyond not OK for Princess to do to its customers.

Thanks in advance for the advice.
