  1. Hmmmmm....that's different from what RC does. They printed our cards at the check in desk before we boarded. Then they punched a hole in it so you could put it on a lanyard. So on Carnival we don't get the cards til we are in our room? Do they have a hole punched in them already? I'm confused now!

Yes they have the holes punched in them. If you want to buy a drink or something before you get to your room you just hand them your boarding pass instead of your SnS card.

  2. Was on the Splendor in January and had FTTF. Your boarding pass has all the info you need on it. We got on the ship, went to our rooms to drop some carry on luggage off and grabbed our cards. The FTTF sticker was on the back of it. We did use our boarding pass for our first drink (had cheers) with no problem.

  3. Thank you so much for quick reply. Yes we did prepay our excursions, and don't actually drink so I was just worried about how much cash to take into ports there, and of course worried about thieves ( had read that can be a problem) my spouse wants to casino gamble but maybe you can use credit card to charge that? so can carry less cash?I was thinking a few hundred, your right, onboard, all paid (pre tips too) with credit card.

If you have a credit card assigned to your Sail n Sign cards you will be charging any money you put on in the casino to the card. That would also be along with gratuities and any spending you do on the ship. As far as ports, it depends what you are doing. I normally take $100 cash and a credit card.

  4. The Black Jack band was on last June but I assume that has most likely changed by now.

I don't remember exactly what time the casino opened but if I recall it wasn't too long after leaving. You will have cell service up until about 11pm

  5. Question: Does the inside cabins have the mini fridge in them also?

    Yes.

We were on the Splendor in January for a casino cruise. Weather stunk but the cruise was great. We've been on the Splendor 3 times (4 in June) and I have to say the staff has been the best we've had on any Carnival cruise. Was never asked for morning or night service, got both. Our room steward kept our room spotless. Had clean towels when needed without asking. Bartenders that were still on from our cruise last April still remembered our names before we even got a drink from them. Love the adult aft pool. Always got loungers and the service was good. Really have nothing bad to say about the Splendor.

  6. We do our pictures at Walgreens and everytime except once it passed muster. That one time, Walgreens redid them for free. For us, it cost $8 at Walgreens.

Walgreens does a good job of them up here. Rite Aid on the other hand is terrible.

I'm telling you my experience having done a lot more of them than you or your family/friends. No "stories" here.

You won't hear about a lot being rejected by the Dept. of State because acceptance agents are there to prevent that. Some people do a good job with them, others, not so well. It's quite easy for an acceptance agent to show people what is wrong just by placing the picture on a template.

  7. Perhaps that is true, I guess we're just lucky. I've never had my photo rejected and I don't know anyone who has had one rejected. I've heard these high percentage rejections stories, but I just don't believe them as I've never known anyone to have one rejected even though we've always done photo's on our own.

Maybe I and everyone I know is just really good at it, but it does seem that if 9 out of 10 really got rejected, that at least one of my family members or friends with a passport would have been turned down at some point.

  8. Yep, they were selling a service. The state department website even has a free photo tool there where it gives you the guidelines and lets you prepare a photo to download and print for your application.

They may have been selling a service but it is also the acceptance clerks responsibility to make sure all information and photos are correct as to not delay a persons passport. Having done hundreds of these myself, I can tell you that other places just do not do them correctly %90 of the time.

  9. If you've never had a passport it cost $110 for the book and $30 for the card for adults (16 and 17 year olds are considered adult). The acceptance agency charges a $25 fee and can do the photos for $15, thus the $150 cost. The $25 fee is a one time charge as long as you keep your passport renewed with 15 years. Children under 16 are $80 for book and $15 for card with the same fees and will get hit with the $25 fee until after their first adult passport. Adults are good for 10 years, kids for 5.

  10. How long does it take to get a marriage certificate, particularly if it is already in your possession? Getting the passport amended is certainly an option but since it would cost money to do so it might be more expedient to just bring the marriage certificate.

If she got the passport just before she got married she can get a free name change (within 1 year).
