  1. Why is everything a pain for an employee to do the job they are told to do? How is it a pain?

Why can't a person go put money on their account? You go to desk, and say hey, I want to put money on my account, and they look it up and do so.

Getting a drink. Your boarding pass has the same info as the card. Just present the boarding pass to get you first drink.

You don't need the card for any of these items.

How many times on a ship, do you see an employee "write down" you folio number when you buy something. Did you need the card? Not really.

    :D

Did I say you needed the card to do all the things you mentioned? I didn't mention any of them and that wasn't my point.

It really makes no sense to have them wasting time doing that when they could be getting rooms ready. It's not like it's hard for the person checking you in to turn around, grab your card and off you go.

  2. I'm sorry for being a lil slow on this subject, I am sure there is a reason for their madness! Like keeping with the law!! But were exactly do I order the booze to get it in my cabin waiting on me? I can't order it on Texas soil, I cant order room service to get it that day? Do I call fun shops from my cabin to order for my room? I don't mind ordering it and getting it a day later. I'm not a raging alcoholic:cool:, I don't have it right away!! I have read other boards where folks got their waiting in their rooms when they got there. And I want to know what they did to get it there!!! BTW thanks for the response!;)

You order it online and if allowed at the port you are leaving from it will be in your room waiting for you.

  3. Good news no appt needed. Had thought a trip to post office required. Know I had gotten passport pictures from AAA last time that PO rejected, so I thought it safer to use their services.

I use to do passports for the PO and have seen a lot of places that do mess up the photos, including AAA. Make sure you got a 2x2 photo, white background and a good face shot. Oh, and keep your eyes open.....lol

  4. Mine expires in June of 2017. Looking at possibly booking short cruise in January but talking HMC, Nassau, Freeport ports.

While I do plan renewing as soon as I get 'round to making an appt to fit my & DH's schedules, had hoped to just use PA Driver's License unless something has changed recently as to rules.

Why do you need an appt to renew? Just get a new photo and mail that, the renewal form, passport and payment in.

    Go Steelers!

  5. Interesting. I know on Princess it takes a lot more than $300 to get 1,000 points, let alone 1,500 points!!

Of course it takes more than $300 to reach 1500 points but not all of that $300has to be out of YOUR pocket. You could start with $100 and play for hours while earning a ton of points without putting in anymore of your own money. Now you could also lose all $300 of your own money in 15 minutes and earn hardly any points.

  6. I didn't realize you could do this. You can order and pay for buckets even with Cheers? As far as the double shots of Crown, I'll just order one for him and wait five minutes to order another drink myself. $300 is a lot of money! Since we never go over our 15 drink limt, this will definitely work. I'm so glad I asked!! Thanks guys.

You're not using the Cheers program to pay for these. I go online and buy a couple 4 packs ahead of time and they are in the room when we get on.

  7. I would NEVER prepurchase Cheers.

Many find that during the hard sell on board, they forego the requirement that all adults in the cabin need to buy it.

So many find they just have to buy it for the one that drinks, and not the one that doesn't.

I would ALWAYS pre purchase Cheers because we both use it and it's $5 per day cheaper.

  8. My husband and I are debating. We have cruised both ways with Cheers and without. He thinks it's too restrictive because he likes to buy buckets of beer to take to the balcony and also enjoys drinking double shots of Crown Royal. I think it's perfect because it saves us around $300 for a 8 day cruise. Now that they've added coffee, water and other stuff to the package, it will save us even more. What are you opinions? Help us decide if we should purchase it for our next 8 days in February.

Tell him to preorder a few 4 packs for your room and then go grab a bucket of ice from the nearest bar. Doesn't count against your 15 but you do pay for it on top of Cheers.

  9. Thank you for saying what I always want to. 99% of most questions, on these threads could be answered simply by going to the Carnival website.

Or scrolling through the page.....or searching the page. Just like the 500 gift card threads asking the same exact questions over and over and.......over.

Maybe the moderators of this forum should stick some threads on these types of topics so they are easily found.

    Could easily stick threads for:

    Cheers

    Gift Cards

    Etc

But that would lead to fewer posts on the forum now wouldn't it.

  10. I am not sure this is the same however my daughter and my mom both got pack and play offers - I am staying with my daughter and my cousin with mom - Me and my cousin both want to purchase the package but I am not sure if we can switch rooms before boarding since neither of us had the pack and play offer. Do I need to wait until we board to purchase?

In your case you would have to wait until on the ship to purchase or you would all have to get it. When you get on go and change rooms then go get your cheers. It will cost you $5 more per day but you've already saved with the room rate.

  11. Great! Thank you for the clarification, I like that much better;) And I totally understand about not sharing with the "un-cheery" partner, actually, our issue is who was going to take the financial hit to accommodate her because we have yet to have a sail n sign bill that justifies the purchase of this package for us, but ordering without regard to cost and unlimited specialty coffees make it appealing :D

Purchase online (cheaper) for the two of you in your room then as soon as you get on go switch rooms. You don't need extra keys, they'll just swap you around on same card. We've done this many times just because me and the Mrs get better room rates, so we each book one and then switch the family around when on board. Then go up to one of the bars and get your "cheers" sticker for your card and enjoy!

  12. I have a premiere casino cruise booked for January and a few weeks back received another premiere casino offer. My original idea was to wait and see if I got a bounce back or ultra offer after the January cruise. Then I got thinking maybe book another premiere to get the cash, discount and perks.....:D Problem is, I've read where a lot of people never got new offers if they were already booked for another cruise. I'm really leaning towards just waiting at the moment but just wondering what others have done and how it worked out in similar situations.

  13. I don't understand what you don't get about the fact that the Cheers program is like buying a bucket of beer -you get X number for a price and when it's gone it's gone.

It's a heck of a good price for 15 drinks. Just sayin ....

And if he doesn't get the Cheers program he can buy as many buckets as he wants. I think the biggest thing with the cap is that they cut you off and don't even allow you to purchase another drink. I can understand a cap for a set price with Cheers, but why do they not allow you to purchase more after? I can buy a bunch of beer ahead of time and have it in my room the first day but yet if I reach that magic 15 number on my S&S card I can't purchase more. Kind of odd to me.

  14. Hi Mark!

I didn't try the workarounds this cruise. I wanted to give Cheers an honest try to see if our guys group can come back to Carnival for good.

After several cruises on RCI with a drink package, it just seems so silly to have to use workarounds at all.

But we do love certain things with CCL. They've got the better night life and more relaxed party atmosphere. They've also got my beloved Fantasy Class ships! :D

So I think we'll be back for 2017, we'll get our drinks in, above board or otherwise. ;) I may even have to force myself to drink Fosters.

You can also purchase ahead of time and it will be waiting in your room. I've already paid for a couple 4 packs for my cruise in January.

  15. Wow...I'm surprised you were able to stream games. I've bought the most expensive Internet package the past two cruises and I haven't been able to stream any video. On my last cruise I couldn't even stream audio during the day. I could get audio late at night when most people were in bed and not using Internet. The cruise before that I could stream audio all the time. Never video.

I won't say it worked flawlessly but it worked well enough to watch most of the game. I'd say it was about 4-5 times it froze up. Simply restarted the app each time. This was on the Sunshine. Maybe it was just luck on my part.

  16. For those that have NFL Sunday Ticket, get the app on your phone or tablet and buy the WiFi for a day. Can watch all the games you want! Sitting on the Lido deck last November watching the Steelers play while ordering buckets of beer was a blast!
