  1. I won a seat and can't go. Same thing happened last year, so I sold/transferred my voucher to another member for a reasonable price + priority shipping costs.

If anyone is going and wants my voucher, please email me at robinlle@gmail.com.

It's worth $500, but I know I won't get that...LOL! Highest bidder takes it - the last one went for $60+S&H. I've also emailed last year's transferee (is that a word??) to assist with verifying my honesty and integrity. :)

This is also cross-posted in the Breeze Roll Call.

    Happy Bidding. :)

Don't want to buy but if you sell yours and know of another that wants one let me know.....:)

  2. If you get in good with a bartender you can actually get a bucket of beer. If there are two of you they will get you the bucket while charging one round and then hit the other round when 5 mins is up. We have done this many times. If you don't get in good, just go to the bar and get a bucket of ice to keep your drinks in.

  3. Got back this past Sunday from the January 8th Splendor cruise. These are just some random thoughts and not a full review. If anyone has any questions I'll do my best to answer.

We had FTTF and priority boarding through a premiere casino offer. Got to the port a little after 10. The machines were broke by security so had to go up and do a normal check in (besides getting sign n sail cards) with picture. It went pretty quick. We were on the ship at about 11:30. Room was ready and sail n sign cards were in mail slot. Luggage got to room a little later.

Our room was 8394 and it was a nice size.

Never met my room steward until the last cruise day to tip him. We got twice a day service and he did a great job keeping the room tidy and making sure we had fresh towels.

I did not do the MDR this cruise so can't really comment on that. Did do the brunch though and it was very good. Room service for breakfast was also very good. Did the steakhouse last night of the cruise and it was excellent as always.

I spent a good amount of time in the casino for the premiere drawings and stuff so didn't really have a lot of time for other things like comedy shows, etc.

The movies I can remember were Deepwater Horizon, Suicide Squad, Jason Bourne, Central Intelligence and Bad Moms. I'm sure there were others that I don't recall.

As far as the cruise, the weather could of been better but other than that we had no issues really. We did miss Grand Cayman because of the wind and rough sea's.

We did use the Carnival HUB app. It worked just ok as far as the texting. Sometimes it wouldn't send and other times it would but the other person never got it. I did like having the FUN Times on there to see what's happening.

  4. Just got off the Splendor Sunday and there is a small sign that says adults only. With the exception of one child in diapers (which someone pointed out and they were asked to keep the child out of the pool and hot tub) I didn't see many kids.

  5. From Carnival:

    Carnival Liberty

    • Outdoors: Smoking is permitted in designated areas on Deck 3 (starboard side) and Deck 10 (starboard side, midship and aft).
    • Note: Cigar and tobacco pipes are only permitted in the above designated outdoor smoking areas on Deck 10.

  6. That's the wage structure on cruise ships. The majority of the cash wages are earned through the gratuity system. The only way for the crew to get a raise is through an increase in gratuities.

I'm quite sure if Carnival wanted to give them a raise they could, so raising gratuities is not the only way. The customers will pay for it either way.

  7. With so many choices for cruise ships, I can completely understand why one ship would be removed from the list.

All I'm saying is you can get a bad/good experience on any ship. You could go on the same one 10 times and the experience would be different every time. If the price/itinerary was right I wouldn't rule out any ship regardless of past experience.

  8. I find it crazy that people wouldn't cruise a certain ship again because of the "crowd" and because something like hot water didn't work. Yes, I would complain about the hot water but that could happen on any ship, same as the crowd. I would bet that if they went again it would be a totally different experience.

  9. My upcoming 7 day Carnival Cruise:

    Flights - $1300

Hotel night before and night after - $400 (if I didn't use rewards points)

    Cruise w/balcony cabin $1400

    Cheers - $800

Add in gratuities at end and well over $4,000 for 2.

My last 7 night all inclusive at the Majestic Colonial Club (adults only) in Punta Cana was $2800 for 2, flights included and not a penny more at the end.

Now I'm not complaining about the price of cruising. If we didn't enjoy it we wouldn't do it but an all inclusive is almost always cheaper for us.

  10. I'm one of those that objects to kids in the steakhouse - small kids. Not a 12 year old.

I reserved the steakhouse for our cruise this Summer specifically for my son who will be 14 and my husband, who both love a good steak. I'm not the least bit concerned about his behavior at that age. They are going to love the surprise!

There are plenty of young kids who are well behaved. Some are probably as mature and well behaved as you're 14 year old. Heck, some may even be more. Not saying your son is a bad kid, just that you can't arbitrarily put a number on maturity/behavior for anyone. I've seen 8 year old's act better than 20 year old's.

  11. I have been getting these offers for quite some time, but have not taken advantage till now. It is now between the two ships above. pro's cons would be appreciated. I live less than a mile from Port Everglades so really getting to either port is not an issue..... TIA

Also does anyone know what is the difference between rate code PC3 & PC5?

I can't compare ships as I've haven't been on the Conquest but we had a great time on the Splendor this past April. We are actually doing a premiere cruise on it in January (24 more days!). I've received 3 premiere offers this year. All were PC3 (Up to $550 off and $200 casino cash).

  12. For everyone else's sake, I would hope that she would stay home or find ways to avoid spreading it to others if she is not well by then. On our last cruise, I nicknamed it the "bronchitis" cruise because by the end of the week, there were so many people hacking all over the place. The health questionnaire is there for a reason, even though I am sure plenty of people don't answer the questions honestly. Have her talk to the doctor. None of us know how long it will take her to recover.

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

It's highly unlikely that they will still be contagious in 2 weeks. Last time I had it my Dr said the contagious part was the first week or less. As long as they don't have a fever they should be fine.

  13. My questions were based on the reviews and also some youtube videos I've watched. Having said that, I do not agree with your analogy when you compare it to what they would have make in their country. They are not working in their country so that should not be basis.

If you own a business, would you pay people from poor areas different from you would pay people from the richer areas? would the state they come from determine how much they should get paid?

So what country would you say they are working in? With the numerous countries cruise ships go to they have to base pay on something.

A business owner would have to pay the federal minimum wage regardless of state or the area a person lives in. Of course wages will be different across the country based on cost of living but there is a minimum.

As far as your two questions:

1 - I think it's fine. I don't think it should be based on the US because they operate to many different countries around the world.

2 - I don't feel as if they are underpaid IMO. They do work hard for the money though!

  14. I just read a review where the cruiser say he/she had a wonderful cruise but will never cruise again. His/her reason was because after talking to many of the workers he/she was disappointed a the way carnival treated them. Many of these workers are from poor countries. The cruise line pays the workers according to what they would get paid in their country. For example, a worker from Philippines (as most cruise lines workers are) would get $2 - $4 per hour and would work long hours.

    1. Do you guys think this is ethical? Should the cruise lines pay the workers American wages seeing the ships are operating from American ports?

    2. Knowing that if the pay for the workers raise so will the prices to cruise or they will limit things that are "free", should we care that the workers are underpaid?

    Thoughts....

How do you know they are underpaid? If, for example, they are getting what they would make normally for an hourly wage (not even counting the tips) how is that underpaid? There's a lot more to it than just saying they are treated "poorly". What's the cost of living where they are from? How much do they actually make in a year? Is it over the average worker in their country? I'm not claiming to know the answer to any of those questions without doing research, just saying it's not that simple of a question. I can say that most of the workers I've met and have talked to are doing quite well.
