So we just booked a cruise through a Players Club offer - $900 off cabin, free drinks on us and $1000 onboard credit. Both my husband and I had the same offer. If we booked that offer with both our VFIP numbers we should both get the drinks on us right? I know we’ll get the $1000 just for the cabin not individually but I’m hoping we’ll both get the drinks on us.

    That wasn't the question

That was the Ops question. If they both have the offer they will both get DOU. The guest will have to go to the casino and have them verify they had the offer.

I agree. I have seen polls with a more appropriate question of, "Would you prefer vaccinations to be required..."

    https://news.yahoo.com/80-cruise-enthusiasts-prefer-sail-003200559.html

It is interesting that 80% on this poll want vaccinated cruises and yet the US isn't even at 50% fully vaccinated. I'd be willing to bet that number would be a lot lower if not asked to just people on a cruise forum and also from what @regoowinjr stated about children.

Real polls. I've never seen a scientific poll on CC and that one doesn't even ask the right question. But from another CC poll

It certainly appears that cruise fans are on board with vaccination requirements. In a recent survey of nearly 3,000 Cruise Critic readers, 84% of respondents said they would cruise if getting vaccinated was a requirement. “And anecdotally, we’re hearing from a number of cruisers that it’s the only way they’d feel comfortable returning at this time,” said Colleen McDaniel, the outlet’s editor in chief.

That's not really asking the right question either. That's just saying 84% "would" cruise if a vaccine was required and not that they "want" it that way. I'm vaccinated and would cruise either way (vaxed or unvaxed).

I hold out that Carnival isn't going to do test cruises and will go the vaccinated route because that haven't given a date for the test cruises. Most cruisers want vaccinated cruises and it is the safest way to restart cruising.

Where do you get "most" cruisers want vaccinated cruises? You're not even the majority on CC.

They have, in fact, received the offers dependent on their gaming history.  You do not have to book a cabin in your name to receive the fun play , the gifts (Ultra) and the drinks in casino.  You can be staying in your friend/spouse cabin who is also receiving all these perks.  We do it all the time.

This! We always get the same offers but can only book under one. I just print out a copy of the offer and take it to the casino. They can look it up right there. I will say that if you are getting OBC they will not stack it. However, fun play, casino cash and drink offers you will get regardless of who booked.

While I agree that there is some level or risk, it is completely low-level once vaccinated. With almost 2 billion shots now administered worldwide, the amount of breakthrough infections and other "risks" are so trivial and, when compared to any other vaccines (looking at YOU anthrax vaccine!!), just astounding.

This does not take away the pain from those who still got sick after vaccination. However context is key. Statistically speaking, more people died on the Concordia in relation to those who cruise every year than had complications from the Covid-19 shot. Yet, here we all are on Cruise Critic, happily looking forward to our next cruise despite the risks.

FYI I am as die hard a vaccine supporter as anyone. I just live in a world of numbers and statistics which helps me keep some order in this chaotic world and try to bring that reasoning to others, to calm their nerves a bit. I argue topics on both sides of the political divide when I see something (statistically) that doesn't necessarily validate an argument.....

Great post! Life is full of risks.

FYI - some people you can't reason with though......LOL

I respect your opinion, but we simply differ on this point as I think it does. There are many places where people work hard their whole lives but due to poor economics and/or corrupt governments, it is impossible to accumulate wealth. The fact that these people can't change their governments doesn't make them personally responsible for the poor economy.  I am privileged, in my opinion, to be born and be a citizen of the USA where, in exchange for my work, I can have really, really, REALLY great stuff and experiences.

I understand that my parents were here and provided for me. But I, personally, didn't work hard to be born here. I am lucky to have been born into the land of opportunity.  Likewise, someone born in, say, Madagascar or Burundi didn't do anything to be born there either, and yet, there they are more or less stuck there, and even if they are willing to work hard, it may be impossible for them to achieve what I might consider even the most basic decent standard of living, much less ever leave or take a cruise ship vacation - yes, even a 3-night cruise to Nassau on a Fantasy class ship.  The fact that their parents are responsible for creating them in that place, doesn't make them any less deserving, at birth, than I was, for the chance at a great life.

Simply the fact that cruise line crew are very willing and grateful to leave their families for long contracts to provide me with the vacation, illustrates the difference between the haves and the have nots. I don't feel guilty for being who or what or where I am, but I do feel fortunate and know I won the cosmic roll of the dice, life wise.

I can respect your opinion also and wasn't trying to argue at all. I am always curious when someone says they are privileged as to why they think that.

I would agree that it is a privilege to live in this country (compared to the rest of the world) and far too many people forget that. I won't get into smaller things like vacation, food, etc as that would just end up being political in the end.

All true. For me, even the worst trips have been amazing and they get better in my memory. Even when there is something to grumble about, and of course there often is, IF I remember it, it becomes humorous over time and may end up being one of my favorite memories.

I darn well nearly killed myself, my teenager, and one of my best friends on a spring break trip to Iceland because, in spite of a ton of research about weather and driving conditions, I rented an eensy car and found myself, the day we were flying out and so we had to be back at the airport THAT DAY (it was also the day WOW Air ceased operations, coincidentally), driving up and down MOUNTAINS IN A BLIZZARD right next to the ANGRY CHURNING North Atlantic Ocean.

Also a bowl of soup costs, like $20 there and that's a cheap restaurant meal. So I could really grumble about the crappy late March weather and the expensive food and nearly indescribable horrible weather or I could be enormously grateful not to have slid to our doom off a cliff, to have made the flight, to have chosen Icelandair instead of its competitor, and to have had the means to take my kid to a place as weird and wonderful as Iceland in the first place. Like the privileged people we are.

As for "trusting" other reviews, I never really thought of that. If people think they hate it, I trust they really do. If they think they love it, I trust they really do. As Sparks says, you have to actually notice irritations to experience them, and I think I just don't sweat the small stuff. I think the reviews from people who hated their experience are usually pretty hilarious.

I am just curious why you think you are privileged? I assume your family worked and saved for the things you wanted to do?

...this is from their Room Service page...

"In addition to food items, beverages from the bar may be ordered through room service including beer, liquor and wine by the bottle (which is limited to two bottles per day and must be consumed in your stateroom)."

We might need an English major to parse out why there's no comma after the mention of liquor - Does that mean that liquor and wine can be purchased by the bottle with a two per day limit?  Or, is the two bottle per day limit only for wine and liquor is "by the individual drink"?

Anything that you order that has alcohol has a 2 per day limit.

I don't understand.  Someone just yesterday did a mock booking for four people on that cruise, and said it came to $3500 or so:

I just did a quick mock booking for a balcony on that date and got $3518 for four in a cove balcony, or $3658 for a regular balcony on deck 6.

What else are you including?  Or are you upgrading your balcony room?

EDIT: and I cleared my VIFP and any other possible discounts.

I got the exact same with no VIFP.

    $2,600 with my VIFP. LOL

I have two $400 deposits and two $600 OBC (so $800 FCC and 1200 OBC) from two rooms that we had booked on a summer Europe cruise that was canceled.  My husband and younger son were in one room and myself and my older son were booked in another. (We did it this way because they are 7 and 8.)  We have a Havana Vista Balcony scheduled for August 7 for just him and I.  Obviously, the kids won't be able to go because they can't go in the Havana rooms.  My question is this:  Can my husband and I transfer the FCCs and OBC from both of those to our sailing?  Or do the kids need to be in the room too?  Or can we transfer "half" of it?  How does it work when the exact same people are not on the next booking?

I am hesitant to book them on anything until we know how CCL is coming down on the vaccine issue. My husband and I are vaxed.

I am guessing that you have $400 FCC plus the $600 OBC and that your husband has the same since you were booked in separate rooms. I don't think they will let you stack the OBC but I would definitely try calling and see what they say since they were separate bookings and now you are going together.

Wow, I knew she posted that she'd rebooked for Sept. 2021 and I thought she wasn't gonna be happy about Vista 9/26. However, her cruise sig. lists her rebooked on Vista for 9/11/2021. So, looks like good news there.

That's good for her then. I have no casino offers for the 9/11 sailing.

I did some ultra cruise. If one is not a gambler where would I find a list of these cruises so they could be avoided? The last few I've done on carnival were bad enough I'm starting to say carnival isnt for me, only for gamblers.

I was saying due to real experiences ... not some thread, I'm finding I dont enjoy carnival as much. I dont know how to avoid these ultra cruises, but it wasnt fun. Priority had no meaning. Belize was a tender port and again same as customer service, boarding ... too many priority to not be a zoo. Boarding was late, they had to open two more sections for all the priority. It was just too crazy for me, not like how carnival used to be. Maybe I'll find it just as bad on rcl, but I'm ready to do more rcl. Only rcl and carnival out of Galveston for those who will be quick to say well do another line.

If you had a certain cruise in mind you could just post it on here and I'm sure someone would let you know if it's an ultra or premier.

These are the ultra cruises out of Galveston I have offers for this year:

    Vista:

    Sept 25

    Oct 23

    Nov 13

    Dec 4

    Dream:

    July 24

    Nov 6

I made sure to post that I'm aware ALL cruiselines give casino rates, but onboard my cruise has not been as impacted as on carnival. My last carnival was 800 plus priority guests and it was some big casino tournament. Over 800 priority isnt priority to me.

I posted just because if I say carnival I keep hitting so many gambling cruises it takes away from my experience .someone says other lines have gambling rates too ...so I made sure I put that in to stop the usual posts to tell me the same thing.

I'm entitled to my opinion, carnival seems to be having more and more casino cruises or I'm very unlucky. My friend who came last cruise says she wouldnt do carnival again. She couldnt even hardly get near a machine in the casino to gamble. She said she might be willing to do rcl next time but she was a no on carnival. I'm kind of a no, but as I said I've walked off my last couple of carnival thinking this isnt for me. 800ish priority isnt priority for guest services where that line is longer than the regular lines lol, or tenders etc. People cant stand if you are critical of carnival, I get it. You got defensive.

Didn't get defensive at all. As I've said before, we usually try and avoid the premier and ultra cruises on Carnival just because they are so packed. I was just referring to where you said other cruise lines don't seem to be as obvious.
