  1. I was on the Sky in February and tested positive on day 6 of a 7 day cruise. The medical center confirmed with their own test and asked us to isolate for the last day and call the medical center if we had an urgent medical need. We were not too sick, fortunately. A little later two letters were slipped under our door confirming the posative test with instructions to isolate for 5 days and then mask for another 5 days. (the cdc guidelines at the time} and also a separate letter from guest services stating that we would each receive a credit of $44.00 to be used for a future cruise and to look on our Princess.com account and it should post withing 30 days along with a dining room menu since we could not leave the cabin. I didn't see the credit on line, but a few weeks later I called in to make final payment on a different cruise, the CSR was able to find the credit and apply it to the balance.
  2. I was on the Regal in May and the ceased salad had kale and chickpeas instead of croutons. He didn’t notice the kale at first. Romaine and croutons were available to substitute, but you had to ask. My DH was annoyed because he was remembering past cruises when they mixed each portion of Caesar salad right in the dining room it it was awesome every time. The dining room also had a station where they mixed the fettuccine Alfredo in the dining room and it had great flavor and was always served piping hot. There appears to be a change in the recipe because the dish was not very good this time around. Don’t even ask about the Princess Love boat dream dessert…it used to be my favorite! I wish that they would leave the signature dishes alone. Sorry about the rant….Princess is still one of my favorite cruise lines
  3. I retired from the insurance business. Regulations change constantly and vary from state to state. For cruises close to home I like the convenience of the Princess Vacation Protection with insurance benefits written through Nationwide. The CAF and improved medivac coverage to 75K meets my needs. The description on the website does specify that the CAF is a non insurance feature Cancel for any Reason1 Cancellation Fee Waiver1 (Non-insurance features provided by Princess Cruises) we offer Princess Vacation Protection (PVP), which provides a cancellation fee waiver1plus travel insurance benefits2 and 24-hour worldwide CareFree™ Travel Assistance3. H When I cruise overseas far from home, I prefer coverage with first party medical and medivac and higher medical limits, so I shop for the best deal I can get through an interenet agency I always download a copy of the certificate of insurance and review the coverages and effective dates prior to sailing, and save a pdf copy to my phone, just in case I need it. Insurance is the only product that people buy that they hope they don't need to use!
  4. Sailing on the Royal Princess Sept 9....Alaska We bid 100 pp / just over minimum to upgrade from a BD balcony to a Superior Deluxe Balcony D4... The bid was accepted yesterday, and we were assigned a wake view cabin on deck 10. We are very happy with the assignment. Our other bid of 160 pp for a mini suite was not accepted. sigh...I would have loved a mini On our last cruise in May on the Regal , we were upgraded from an obtstructed balcony on deck 8 to to a BB unobstructed balcony on deck 10 at no charge. Totally random, but we were happy with the upgrade without having to bid. f you are particular about where your cabin will be, then it's probably better to book the cabin that you want and mark it for no upgrade.
  5. I was on the Regal in May. It was not particularly cold in the dining room, but from time to time it was cold and drafty in the piazza on port days when the tenders were running. I usually had a light jacket or shawl with me
  6. On the Majestic and newer Royal Class ships, there were a few of these added to port and starboard aft of the Dolphin Deck; no aft view, but larger balconies. Can you explain further about the view from port and starboard aft dolphin deck cabins?
  7. We did this tour in May and enjoyed it. We walked up the hill to the castle. it was a strenuous walk uphill, but we took our time and did fine. Would not suggest it if you have mobility problems. We are over 65. Our coach had a max of 45 people ..it was a clean comfortable coach.we had two hours in Sterling to either go into town or view the castle. The castle was well worth it for us. Some day it would be nice to return to spend more time. Then, our trip over to the Falkirk wheel was fun. We did not have to wait very long to board, and the ride up and down was a little noisy, but not deafening. There were fumes for a few minutes, but cleared quickly once we were up. Our tour guide mentioned that she did not always take the ride but there was space on our boat so she did remain with our group on board. After the ride We had enough time to view the next boat going up and go through the gift shop before boarding the bus to return to the ship. I would love to take this tour again, but also stop to see the Kelpies, which was not part of our tour.
  8. DH and I were on the Regal Princess this past May. We had the plus package, so waters of all kind were included, but much to DH's disapointment, the ship ran out of San Pellegrino and Perrier water 3 days into our 12 day cruise and it was never replenished. We did get bottles of water from the bar to take back to our cabin, but I don't recall the brand. I don't think it was Desani water though. If you have the plus package you can get club soda from the bar if they run out of bottled sparkling water.
  9. I will be arriving in Seattle the day before my Princess cruise in September and have narrowed my hotel choices to either Hyatt at Olive, Grand Hyatt, or the Paramount. Pricing is about the same on all of them for my date Any opinions on those hotels or suggestions for others nearby?
  10. Alternately, you can take the silver line bus to South Station and walk up to the Public Garden. The distance is just under a mile. https://www.rome2rio.com/map/South-Station/Boston-Public-Garden#r/Walk/s/0
  11. I took the Overlord Tour #9B from LeHavre in May to the D Day beaches..we visited Omaha Beach, The American cemetary and the town of Bayeau...highly recommended..here is the link http://www.overlordtour.com/
  12. I was on the Sky at the end of January and on the Regal in May. International Cafe had Bigelow herb tea bags, same as the tea in the buffet. The Mighty Leaf Tea's selection that used to be available were no longer offered.
  13. I hope you get on the tour...our tour was memorable, because my father was a D Day veteran of the 29th division... I was also waitlisted initially, but once they had enough interest another bus was added. The busses are small...16 passenger maximum Also, keep an eye on the Princess sponsored tour for cancellations just in case you don't make it up the list for the Overlord tour. It's a lot more expensive but it will get you there.
  14. Hi Mary, Can you confirm that 40/day before platinum discount is the most recent price for on board internet? We were on the Regal May 20th sailing and the internet cost for 1 device each was bundled into the plus package, so I don't have a breakdown of the cost. I'm considering an Alaska cruise, and not sure if it's worth it to pay for internet on a port intensive cruise with US ports of call where my cell phone data plan works. I was on the Sky back in January without plus, and paid for a 4 device package, but I don't recall the price being that high at the time.
  15. Probably should have complained on the medallion app...LOL
  16. If you are looking for a tour from the port in LeHavre..i can reccomend this one.. Overlord tour 9B full day tour From Le Havre: Omaha beach, the American cemetery, Bayeux, Honfleur....The 2023 price for this tour is 150 Euros per person. http://www.overlordtour.com
  17. DH and I just returned from a very nice 12 day British Isles cruise on the Regal. So much fun! When I originally booked the cruise the plus package was $50/day so we went for it. ..DH doesn't drink alcohol, but he looks forward to specialty coffees and bottled sparkling water on board. On day 4 of the cruise all of the bars on the ship ran out of Pellegrino and Perrier, and there was no alternative bottled sparkling water available. DH does not drink juice or soda,(too much sugar) so his drink package basically paid for specialty coffee. He was annoyed that he had pre paid and no alternative was offered other than club soda from the fountain, which he does not care for. Since both people in the cabin must purchase the package, we will take a pass on it next cruise and just pay for drinks and specialty coffee's as we go.
  18. I will be cruising out of Southampton without a car and would like to visit the Costco Warehouse store in Southampton before or after the cruise. It appears to be a couple of miles from the train station per google maps... Any suggestions on whether to take a taxi or bus or just walk. I will be staying at the Premiere Inn, so won't be dragging luggage
  19. Happy Anniversary! We are also about to embark on a 12 day cruise to celebrate our anniversary and have reserved the Crown Grill on the Regal.... DH likes steak, and they have a nice filet, I prefer fish, and will probably have the sea bass ... You can view the menu's for both Crown Grill and Sabbatini's on the Princess website... Once you decide, use the medallion to book your time...we were on the Sky in January and we were unable to get a reservation once we were on board.
  20. I was on the Sky in January..the tea's available were Twinings and Bigelow herb teas, Lemon ginger and Mint were available, and of course regular black tea. I had been looking forward to Mighty Leaf tea, but it was not to be found...sigh... Princess...are you listening?
  21. Thanks... do you know if the road has sidewalks?
