Reunited with ROTTERDAM - 5 Days of Caribbean Bliss
macaroni replied to eroller's topic in Holland America Line
We always told the waiter that we would give our dessert order after dinner…..no problem….they did this in the specialty restaurants also. We just waited until the end, and then ordered. -
I am not booking Privee…don’t even know how many will actually eat together. Just wanted to know table sizes so we would know. ‘Thank you all for your responses.

I was interested in the specialty restaurant table sizes. thank you!

Was just curious on the table sizes in the specialties…..they don’t all show any 8’s…2 of them do and 2 don’t….will probably have to separate the group if there are 8 or 10 of us…don’t see 6 as an issue.

Can someone tell me the largest size table that will be available in each Specialty Restaurant? We have a group that may be 10. I believe the MDR won’t be an issue, but not sure if we can make reservations for that size group before boarding in the Specialties. I don’t remember seeing that size table in any of them… ‘Thank you!

Fine Cuts is way too noisy….we did not enjoy eating there.

We did not have to ask for 2 services a day. It was just done. Chocolates and towel animals on gala nights only. He filled the ice bucket twice a day and was always happy and laughing with us. Bang and Put….deck 4 port aft.

Yes, 2 services a day….

Just got off also and it was definitely one of our favorite cruises. The food in all venues was top notch. Had items we might normally not have ordered but were glad we did. Parmesan crusted veal loin, pork chop and spaghetti with garlic, oil and shrimp all excellent . Had no complaints except in pinnacle where we felt that they were trying to upsell to the extra cost items… entertainment was the best ever. passengers were all very nice….crew was great and hardworking. Our steward had 35 cabins to tend to with an assistant.

We ate here last night. It was very good but as you can see, some changes. You can order any amount of appetizers, to share or for yourself. The only special is the catch of the day. We shared most appetizers and each got one also…..7 apps total for 4 people. our friend wanted pasta with his chicken parm (they serve it with potatoes) so ordered a 2nd entree for $10. While eating we were approached several times about if we were enjoying it. I made the suggestion of a side of pasta with the parm and he said just ask to substitute the potato? Maybe they would have……Osso buco was excellent. Pasta dishes were good. All in all a very good dinner.- 138 replies

That wasn’t just crispy crust…the top was burnt!

Would appreciate any info on how the tendering is when going to the Falklands….how long, how rough and if they use something other than the ship’s life boats. Thank you for any insights.

Has anyone flown out of Amsterdam after an ocean cruise?
macaroni replied to DDDallas's topic in Holland America Line
Definitely don’t take the transfer….be first in line out and don’t slow down until you are in a taxi. This was also a Sunday so traffic was light for us….but yes, it was about 3 hours to our gate. A lot of walking. -

When we did this in the Spring on HAL, we walked off directly-6:45 am to a taxi……we were down early and first off… and asked him to get us to the airport quickly. This is when they were having horrible departure lines. Not sure if that is still the case. We got to our gate as it was starting to board…believe it was an 11 am flight. Can be done if those issues are still not a problem at the airport. -
Host Jazzbeau, can you explain more about increasing the amount of coverage as you go along? Do you just call to increase or do it online yourself? Your travel agent? Is it the usual cruise insurance that they offer or specific to a cruise line? thanks!

HAL Rotterdam and Oceania Riviera both have really nice libraries….a shame there is not even an area for a book exchange on the Enchanted.
