  1. It will be nonrefundable, or so I’ve read, as I never use my points that way, Best bang for your buck is stateroomupgrade, second would be statement credit. Use your NCL MC for your onboard acct and get triple points then apply statement credit to pay those charges off. BTW, there is a sticky at the top of this forum devoted to the NCL MC. Lots of good info there.
  2. I used to use that site a lot, back when there was a link to it on CC. I thought it had gone out of business.
  3. Yes, I saw Vikings 2025 dates and because prior to out cancelled cruise I had researched adnauseum the other lines and finally just settled on Viking. They seemed to check all the boxes, we’re in out budget and several friends raved about them. obviously I didn’t know about some of the other lines suggested above and I’ve spent the afternoon reviewing them, so when their 2025 dates are out we’ll be ready. We have so much packed into 2024 it’s just not possible to shoehorn anything else in (unless maybe I winPower Ball tonight). does anyone here have thoughts about Gate 1? thank you all.
  4. We looked at several dates 2024 and the only cabins left were the suites, which were beyond our budget. Plus they are currently offering a $25 pp deposit. I have decided that Vikings flippant response has pushed them out of consideration, and we plan to cancel. When we booked this cruise they wanted final payment at 18 months and I told then that was a deal breaker and they pushed it back to one year, which I thought was pretty far out but, so be it. I suppose maybe they were hungrier for bookings as we were just coming out of the shut down then. I always carry good insurance so this cancellation will be fully covered. Thank goodness. thank you all for your advise. Now off to do research 🤗
  5. I agree with BeaumontBarbie. If you are booking closer to sailing you might have a problem, but if you have a PCC they might be able to assist you, although the PCCs and WP are in separate worlds, they may have some influence. Before calling I would look at availability of your desired cabin (are you wanting to move to anOV or BAL) and see if any are showing. Remember that not all available cabins always show on the website, if none show call your PCC or TA, who can see all available and get cabin numbers of available cabins. Then look at the deck plan and see which is most desirable for you and list them in order of preference. Then call WP and see what happens. At least you will enter your conversation well armed with information. And if a cabin is truly not available, your points transfer is not complete until you have chosen a cabin. Let us know how it works out, please
  6. I booked a Christmas Markets cruise on Viking this morning for December of 2025. Final payment is 2/2024. 22 months in advance. I am seriously looking at this, as our last Viking booking (which didn’t happen due to a medical emergency) was 12 months in advance. I called back and was told that no accommodations could be made for a later date. Is this the norm now on Viking? Not griping, just a bit stunned.
  7. Yes, Ambassadors do have the oval name tags with their names on them. We were on the Star in August and two ambassadors were onboard, and attended a Diamond and ambassador event where I met them. They both wore their name badges.
  8. We have had several cruises on the Dawn and thoroughly enjoyed each one. We have a family cruise booked on her next year and I expect it to be delightful, as well.
  9. Bird, some of the worst weather situation with a docked ship has been in Costa Maya. We saw the officers out staring in horror at the side of the ship as it was pounded into the side of the pier. They stopped disembarking, tried to gather up those who were already off the ship and waited until rveryone was back on board, then departed. We have missed CM several times because of winds, and yes, even as passengers screamed “but the Goodship Lollipop is docked”. sorry to hear about this event, hopefully they carry a spare gang plank 😱
  10. IMHO, the brand NCL provides is not great, but it’s far better than the swill served in the food venues onboard.
  11. I have always gotten it quickly in just a few days. But as of late NCL has a protocol of the day, so you never quite know what to expect. But I’ve never been denied, so that’s a good thing.
  12. I use a tea bag product similar to what Bird shows above. Yes, they are rectangular and the pod receptacle is round but it works. I use 1 tablespoon of grounds per cup, my husband likes his coffe stronger so he gets an additional teaspoon. You will have to experiment at home to see what suits your taste. place the grounds in the tea bag and fold the top over twice then staple it shut. The size I use will take four staples side by side to completely close the bag without any leakage of grounds. I order my bags online from WM (I’ve not found them in the stores) and they are about $5/100.
  13. I usually apply for my SH OBC as soon as I book, and as we book very early that can be 18-24 months out. Never a problem, but on my most recent booking I got an email that I needed to reapply with a proof of shares not more than 90 days prior to cruising. I find that reasonable but it is the first time I’ve had that happen. it’s NCL, so of course, YMMV 😂
  14. We always enjoy a sit down meal for lunch on embarkation day. The morning is always a bit hectic and it’s nice to sit, have a welcome aboard beverage and a nice white tablecloth dinner. In New Orleans (where I was raised) it’s always nice to watch the river traffic while we dine. Ahhhh, that’s how to start a vacation 🤗
  15. In February on the BA, they did not open until noon, so if you boarded early there was a short wait. O Sheehans was open, though.
  16. Bring a plastic trash can liner to reinforce the bag, which is very flimsy.
  17. Ahhh 🤣🤣🤣. I figured it had to be a typo but couldn’t come up with anything. Certainly wedding would indeed fit the bill.
  18. On Nachi Cocums website they list “weeding facility” as an e mini Ty. What does that mean?
  19. This was a great tour. We were there in August and Ireland was very windy and cold. Be sure to wear a cap (hood is even better) with a strap unless you want to see your cap sail across the falls. Gloves, too. We did waterfall excursions in several spots and they were all beautiful in their own way. We stayed three days after the cruise and did tours through Nice Tour and loved every minute. We have another cruise booked in 25 so we can see more of Iceland.
  20. Unlike the Carnival card, which last time we were on a CCL cruise, advertised some OBC for applying, NCL does not do that. As a matter of fact, I’ve never seen any advertisements for the card on NCL ships at all. Apply for the card soon, get it before you sail and get trip,e points for your onboard charges.
