  1. Somewhere, and I don't recall where, I read that they are converting some cabins to PH rooms.
  2. We’ve sailed both, although mostly on Oceania. Lots to consider. I’d look at the staterooms on the ships you’re considering. Both lines have a wide variety of rooms. See what appeals to you. If you enjoy cocktails and wine, they’re included with Regent. If you’re not drinkers that may be a reason to lean towards O. Limited shore excursions are also included with Regent. But if you’re not a fan of bus tours they may not be appealing to you. I’d give Regent a slight edge on food. But food is very good on Oceania. There is a different vibe on board the 2 lines. Personally, we prefer Oceania but we had a wonderful Regent experience.
  3. I know that Oceania sells their bedding but I’ve never seen their bath towels for sale. Does anyone know if you can purchase these?
  4. Sorry to hear that Thierry is no longer with Oceania. He was their lead GM and a terrific person.
  5. We were on Insignia, late August/early September. The cruise was La Havre to NYC. It was our 19th Oceania cruise and the only time in the end of cruise survey that I rated the cuisine less than excellent. The difference was especially notable in Polo and Toscana. I ran into the GM and we had a brief conversation. I did not mention the food issues. However, he said that they are not where they want to be, yet, it terms of overall quality.
  6. For us, it was an excellent offer. We're retired and live in FL so no air changes required. We prefer O class ships to R. And we received 6 shore excursions, house bev package and $600 OBC. To us, that has a value of at least $2,000. It practical terms, we can to the Dom Perignon dinner and still come off the ship with no bill.
  7. No idea why this posted twice. I cannot figure out how to delete it. We were booked on a November Caribbean cruise on Sirena, cruise only, that Oceania oversold. O offered us the same cruise on Riviera for either Jan, Feb or March with all 3 O Life perks (OBC, included excursions, and bev package). We accepted the offer as we prefer the O class ships and have flexibility with our schedules. We were surprised that Sirena was oversold as many recent voyages have been sailing under capacity. Good news for Oceania and for us!

  9. Good information, thank you. As of now, the cruise is only listed as a Grand Voyage. My guess is that they will break it into segments if it does not sell out. The sail date is not until May 2025.
  10. I know that you receive 3 comp bags of laundry with a concierge room. Does anyone know if you get more than 3 bags on a Grand Voyage (72 days)?
  11. We booked the 5:15pm flight. Better safe than sorry. It’s nonstop to Boston. That will leave us with a 2 hour drive home. But we won’t be sweating the disembarkation process. Thanks to all for your valuable advice.
  12. We’ve found the pianists in Martini’s to be hit or miss. The jazz combos that usually play evenings in Horizons are consistently top notch. You may also get lucky with an excellent string quartet.
  13. I think it prudent to take the 5:00pm flight. If we opt to take a tour of Reykjavik, does Oceania offer a service to deliver bags directly from the ship to the airport? Or would we have to go to the airport and check the bags prior to seeing the city sights?
  14. The next flight is at 5:00pm. I'll contact O for details about disembarkation.
  15. Typically we never book a flight before noon on disembarkation day. However, we dock at 5:00am in Reykjavick. The port is about 45 minutes from the airport. I would think that we would be able to disembark by 7:00 and be at the airport by 8:00. Am I missing something?
  16. The answer is that the credit received is not more for any cruise over 35 days.
  17. We disembarked Insignia one week ago. It was our 19th O cruise and the first time I rated the food very good and not excellent. Our biggest disappointment was Toscana. The entrees were disappointing. I happen to chat with the GM and complimented him on the staff as the service was overall, excellent throughout the ship. He said that they were working hard to bring back the level of food and service to pre-covid days but that they were not there yet.
  18. We purchased a Future Cruise Deposit Certificate on a recent voyage. The certificate lists dollar amount reductions based on type of room and length of cruise. The highest number of days listed on the certificate is 35. Does anyone know if the dollar figure would be higher for cruises longer than 35 days? We are considering a future grand voyage. Thank you.
  19. Just received cancellation notice from our TA. In addition to a refund of all fees paid, those with reservations will also receive a 25% future cruise credit that must be used within 2 years.
  20. From Cruise Critic News: La Reserve, the restaurant dedicated to food and wine-paired meals on Marina and Riviera, will not be present on the Allura-class ships -- but the special menus, including the Dom Perignon one -- will be available as options in La Prive, the ship's private dining experience.
  21. What the person from O meant by "structure of the ship" was that there was simply no space on Vista for La Reserve. I assure you that one of the founding members of the company was not high.
  22. My understanding, from a high placed source, is that the reason there is no La Reserve on Vista has to due with the structure of the ship.
  23. I'm looking forward to our cruise on Vista but disappointed that there will be no La Reserve. Our La Reserve experiences have been stellar.
  24. The new CEO, James Rodriguez, is amazing. If anyone can bring positive changes to Atlas, it's James. We are frequent Oceania cruisers and know James, personally. He is very customer centered!
