Did they give you any explanation as to why the internet is so terrible?

What you are seeing is the upgrade bid dial. You can bid the minimum or higher by moving the dial. You will see that the bid price (multiply by 2 - double occupancy) increases as you move the dial. You select the price you are willing to pay for the upgrade and submit the bid. You will be asked to enter a CC but you will NOT be automatically charged if you win. You will need to do that through the online portal or your TA. If your bid is accepted you will receive an email listing your new cabin number as well as an email asking you to pay.

Princess needs to get its act together with regards to providing decent internet. Many people have to stay connected these days, even when on vacation.

Right. My DD had an encounter with a Man-o-War on our summer cruise (not fun). The doctor had to run a series of tests, including blood work, before he could administer a simple steroid treatment. They will not take any chances with any prescribed meds. Thank goodness we had insurance!

This makes sense because they do not have your medical records and do not know how you might react to various medications.

That is good to know. When I tried to change them on the AA App, I got a notice that I had to go through the TA (EXAir). Good to know that I can call to change if needed.

I’m not sure I have that one. We have the haven second bedroom. I can tell you that the mattress is actually the sofa cushion. It only sleeps one.

Ugh! I have flights for the Dec 18th CB Panama Canal cruise. My flights were changed leaving 35 minutes for my layover in Charlotte. Not going to work. My TA had to fight hours for my flight change. 🙄 I’m just praying they don’t change them again. I hope you at least get a refund!

Yes, you can book it in the App. You will not be charged. I have been able to book many months in advance. Try it and see!

Ours arrived today for our November 5th cruise. 17 days out. We received a FedEx notification when they were mailed (from Florida) and when they were delivered.

All bids will say Pending. The giveaway is if you start getting rejection emails a few weeks out except for one bid that still says Pending. In many cases, including mine, when this happens the bid acceptance email follows for the one bid that was not rejected.

My guess is you will get the acceptance email soon. You can check by clicking on your ORIGINAL bid on an upgrade email. The bids that are declined will show as EXPIRED. The accepted bid will show as PENDING. Good luck!!

My guess is other cruise lines may jump on the Starlink bandwagon. RCCL will have it on all ships in 2023. With so many people working from home and taking classes online, good internet service is going to become a must have IMO.

Royal Caribbean contracted with Musk and Starlink. From what I heard it is amazing.

Princess will provide what you are looking for. They often have great jazz bands and piano/vocalists onboard. I do not think there will be a lot of children onboard. They will be on NCL and RCCL.

Princess VS NCL: If you don’t drink wine then the regular beverage package is similar to NCL’s. You should be able to order most mixed drinks. Nothing beats the NCL Premium Plus package IMO (bottles of wine at meals). The specialty dining is very similar to NCL - Crown Grill is like Cagneys and Sabatini’s is like La Cucina. There are not as many venues, both dining and bars, on Emerald Princess. You may find on the older Princess ships evenings are more subdued than NCL with fewer options for entertainment. The food in the main dining room is comparable IMO. There seem to be more pools and hot tubs on Princess ships with a nice aft adult-only pool on your ship. I compare the older Princess ships with the older NCL ships like the Sky. There are no slides, climbing walls or the like on Princess ships. I enjoy Princess especially if I want a relaxing cruise at a good price. Enjoy your cruise!
