  1. Saturday October 1st was a day in the inside passage and someone's birthday It was also packing day as we would be moved by the ship's decision makers up 2 floors to a different room .The same room location but a different level on the next day .
  2. A couple of photos of the ship at sail away . Cruin and Juneau was great and we would give him a 9 . Removing the ship's ramp
  3. We were considering lunch and Cruin called ahead, but they were out of Halibut. We could wait and they would have some fresh in a little. So, we headed off to see bear. On the way we passed some deer along the road. There was a beautiful waterfall we passed by. The bears were being a "little " shy. But the birds were waiting for fish also We still had a little time to kill so we stopped by the Fire Station Out with the old and in with the new This Tower can reach 100' on to or above the ship for firefighting or rescue purposes I spent most of my years on a meet wagon like this Time for the fish and chips . They we delicious !
  4. Thanks Nancy . It's fun to see places where we've been ( and some ) that we forgot until we look at the photo again . 🙂
  5. Our next stop was at rear of Creek Street where we watched the Salmon running and the seals fishing There was a Totem Pole nearby and Cruin explained it
  6. We went outside near the bus bench in a a covered area where our guide showed us some hand made tools that he uses to carve totem poles . He is married to a local lady and had adopted many of the local customs . My wife is from Michigan and I'm from Florida and we met in Michigan when I was on vacation there . We were thrilled to see Fall colors and like to vacation in the Spring and Fall for a cool break from the Hot Florida sun . Pat getting a carving lesson
  7. Because of the rain in Ketchikan we first went to an enclosed space - the library . We bought a book here for a $ that dealt with Pat's Irish Ancestry . We would have liked to bought more for the ship's library but with the rain and perhaps they may not have been allowed with Covid .
  8. The Pea soup was at the bow for everyone . A large group was coming in as we were going outside . He was the last in line coming in to get out of the rain .
  9. As rain was the order of the day I had my folding raincoat with lots of pockets As it wasn't that cold I wore it over my fleece and carried my camera bag underneath it in the front like a baby bump . Breakfast was at the Pinnacle Already to go ashore in our Lumberjack camouflage Our guide for the day Cruin , was just as he described and we had no trouble spotting him .
  10. Friday was Ketchikan but the TV map showed us at sea We made a quick coffee stop at the lounge before breakfast The previous nights warning of an hour's time change
  11. No , we ate at the last Rudi's on the Neiuw Amsterdam on Glacier Bay Day on September 29th . You can see the photo review on it that we did today here:
  12. A couple of quick blurbs . We did enjoy our night at Rudi's . On the day at Skagway we went to the Elvis movie and left very early as we saw a number of inaccuracies and didn't find the movie very entertaining . Glacier Bay was a wash out and after seeing Glacier Alley , Patagonia and Antarctica we were disappointed . Please see our photo review by clicking here :
  13. For anybody interested in a similar cruise with a photo review so that you can see some of what Charlie is seeing you can find our review here :
  14. We were craving something warm ( and a nap ) after sail away so we ordered room service We went to bed dreaming of Rudi's as the 2 men that managed the Pinnacle told us that this would be the last time that it would be on the Nieuw Amsterdam ever .
  15. We were up early in the day for Glacier Bay And breakfast in the Pinnacle We stopped by the lounge for dinner menu And we geared up before stepping outside into the deep freezer
  16. So right about the crew - they treated us better than family . And we met some other nice cruisers as well .
  17. This was our turn around point Carcross . Thomas didn't tell us but this was the only place that we could eat at . It served a bachelor's breakfast which is to say coffee and sweet rolls . We had hopped to have lunch but that didn't happen . They called this area the Carcross Desert The Emerald Lake We were back to the ship at 1500 We pounced on the Dive In like a couple of starving rats . Here's a photo of the train and the landslide from earlier this year .
