  1. The captain informed us the day before as we went to Glacier Bay. I immediately called Chilkoot tours to cancel and she was grateful to know which ship wasn’t coming in. Then called the Steve Kroschel wildlife preserve and they told me to book through Princess.
  2. We stayed there two weeks ago. Great lodgings, ate at the Pike’s Landing restaurant which was slammed on Father’s Day. Loved the Gold Dredge 8 and panning for gold! Walked around the Alaskan pipeline and loved the Discovery paddle boat. Bush airplane takeoff, huskies demonstration, and native village. Awesome day!
  3. Juneau- Mendenhall canoe trip. Outstanding! Liquid Alaska tours, Kevin and Mike paddled with my husband, daughter, and I. Got closer than any other tours to the glacier in the water. So much fun!

    Haines

We were there last week as the Majestic couldn’t go to Skagway. Loved the Steve Kroschel wildlife preserve. He is quite a character who loves and cares for the animals. Saw so many animals and you can feed the two orphaned moose and the caribou there. Worth it!
  5. We were on the Majestic last week. NoSkagway, but the Steve Kroschel wildlife preserve was outstanding! We saw a bear, wolverine, wolves, snowy owl, caribou, baby moose, porcupine, lynx, and a mink. Hit the Fogcutters bar in Haines to hang with the locals and the hammer museum. Lots to if you can’t be in Skagway.
  6. We are on the Majestic right now in Hains. We had to cancel our visit to Skagway.. We have a wildlife preserve scheduled for today in Hains. We have had beautiful, sunny weather since Denali. We are glad to be in Alaska and having incredible weather. Life happens and we just have to roll with it!
  7. No Skagway for you! We are on the Majestic right now in Hains. We got word yesterday morning of the rockslide and the change of plans. Had to call Chilcoot tours to cancel. She said there is a big hole in the dock. We are disappointed. However we are in Alaska on a bright sunny day and are going to the wildlife preserve. We are just grateful to be here and have had wonderful weather.
  8. We just ended the regular cruise tour. We just wore what he had on during the day. Very laid back and casual.
  9. We just ended the land tour and board the Majestic today. Loved the land tour! The Gold Dredge 8 and Discovery riverboat trips were beyond amazing! Great narration and we learned so much. Even got to be by the pipeline. Denali Tundra tour was 5 hours, again great narration by the guide. We traveled until you could see off to where the landslide was. They still don’t even have a contractor to repair it. It will be another 3 years before redone. Saw moose, caribou, Dall sheep, the state bird and a bald eagle. Don’t worry about the hotel, it is just a place to rest your head. We were way out at the Riverside Princess. Enjoy your trip, Alaska is sooo vast and remote!
  10. Eagerly followed your report as we are currently on cruise land tour before embarking on Majestic on Saturday. Thank-you so very much for taking the time and detail for such an informative report🛳🛳
  11. I hear you, Tetleytea. We live in Southern California, so a long road trip would have been in order for us to get to Fairbanks 😆😆
  12. Our great TA booked us through EZ air, but she is the one who searched for alternative flights. One was to rebook for Sunday, today. We would have missed the excursion today and who knows if there would have been another delay?
  13. Yes, I agree, two days now, just in case . . . . While we in line at LAX, a gal overheard me mentioning Fairbanks and turns out she is on same cruise tour as we are. She would miss the Seattle connection too. Hope I see her on the excursion today!
  14. Hi all, anyone want to add their adventures getting to their Princess cruise and/or land tour with these flight delays and cancellations? We finally arrived in Fairbanks after 26 hours in transit from LAX. We boarded our plane and waited nearly an hour before the flight attendants told us no pilot would be arriving, though they were in talks with “Atlanta.” We were told to be glad it wasn’t cancelled. Our flight was delayed 2 hours which meant our connection in Seattle to Fairbanks was missed. Our dear TA hunted for a way to get there through a change of airlines and arrival times. However, we had a 9 hour layover in Seattle. Would our already ticketed luggage sitting in the belly of the plane make it to Fairbanks with us with the change of airlines? The new itinerary had us arriving in Anchorage at midnight and leaving at 6:15 am. Would the seats in the waiting lounge have arm rests or not so we could lay and sleep there? The answer is yes to all! We arrived bleary eyed to the welcoming Princess rep at at the airport with keys in hand and the friendly shuttle driver waiting to whisk us to the Princess Lodge. May the real adventure begin😃

    Mosquitos

Anita Latte, I took your advice and have two bottles of Alpenglow for our land tour that begins Sunday🦟🦟
  16. Princess requires a Covid test 2 days before the land tour and one before the cruise. They are supposed to handle the pre cruise testing.
