  1. Agree. Looks like it has been built with plastic building bricks from Denmark.
  2. 14. Anderson Bar Aurora 15. Epicurium Ventura 16. Metropolis Bar Ventura 17. Deluxe Balcony Cabins Aurora
  3. I have to disagree. I said, if I am happy with the cost of the cruise, i.e £1100, then that is fine. If that £1100 cruise comes with £100 OBC then the first £100 I spend on board equates to a £100 discount.
  4. If I am happy with the price I have paid for the cruise, I'd rather have OBC, which gives me 100% discount, than just 10% Peninsula Club discount.
  5. The Beach House, Milford On Sea. There is also The Smugglers Inn as an alternative for something to eat and the Wash House micro bar that does a good selection of beers and wine.
  6. That must be down to the credit card company as that has never happened to me.
  7. What happened to you with Princess was very unfortunate and I fully understand the stress that caused you. And I agree that I have no need to worry about my balance at any given time. As I said before it us all about how you manage your finances
  8. I too have a 5 figure credit card limit. Before I start spending on board I know my credit card balance is nil and therefore anything I spend on board will be the balance on my credit card. I am not able to check card balance whilst onboard as never do online banking away from home.
  9. After more than 15 cruises with P&O I have never been charged twice for anything I have purchased. My average daily onboard spend is approx. £60. I always ensure the credit card I use has a nil balance before I board the ship. I check my total onboard spend daily and also the final account before I leave the ship. The final amount spent appears on my next credit card statement and I pay it off in full before the due date. Simple! I've never had funds withheld or financial barriers put in my way. It simply comes down to managing my finances.
  10. Only 4.7% of the UK adult population are vegan. This would equate to just 244 out of 5200 if there were no children on board. Agree, with the amount of criticism, why do P&O continue to cater for them?
  11. As I see it this situation is created by the size of the ship. The entertainment venues cannot cater for the 5000+ passengers. Our first cruise was Strictly Come Dancing themed on Oceana. This included perfomances by two professional couples. Every passenger received an invitation and was able to attend each performance, as the theatre could cope with the passenger numbers. There was no need for a raffle, which results in disappointment.
  12. I hold my hands up, I don't understand the effect of having timed labels. But what I do understand is that after more than 15 cruises with P&O I have never had issues with their current procedure for disembarkation. But maybe that is because I adhere to their system and wait until it is my turn to disembark. As has been said before, we are all different and we all have choices. There are other cruise companies out there that may be more suitable to some people but not others.
  13. I think you have missed the point that Devon b&b has made. Whether you think the P&O system is good or bad, it is how they do things. IMHO, the P&O system works. You are given a time and a place to congregate. Obviously the allocated time is dependent on outside factors, i.e. portside issues, but when it is safe to disembark you are invited to disembark. The cases are sorted by decks, which as I see it, is no different to having different coloured labels. It is only if people decide to ignore their disembarkation time and try to leave when it suits them that the system breaks down. Again as Devon b&b has said, if you don't like the P&O system/product, then you can always vote with your feet and cruise elsewhere.
  14. Have you ever considered what would happen if everyone refused to play the disembarkation game and just walked off when they felt like it? It would be absolute chaos!
  15. I just wish that everyone, the press and people on social media including on this forum would leave Catherine alone. The Palace first announced that she was undergoing an operation and will be away from carrying out public duties until Easter. That is all we need to know!
  16. Why not contact Holiday Inn. They may offer you a later check out time.
  17. I have noticed that Devon Born and Bred's query about ways to get to Chania from Souda Bay has been moved to the Greece forum. One answer suggests that some ships provide a shuttle. Does anyone know if P&O do?
  18. Wow!!! What a choice. Mrs P and I can't decide what we would choose with such a choice. Hope you and Lady S enjoy!
  19. It's always worth getting off. A quick walk into the city centre for a couple of Pastel de Natas washed down with several glasses of Port. Yum
  20. And he's probably the sort of person that then puts his walking stick on a table in the buffet together with his wife's handbag!! Yuk!!!
  21. We had a very poor experience in the Epicurian on Ventura in March this year. We booked it online before sailing to celebrate my birthday. Unfortunately, we had a very long wait (over an hour) after our starters and being served our main course. During this time the waiters were aware of the occasion and kept reassuring us that our main courses were on their way. When they finally arrived my steak was very overcooked (I asked for medium). At this point I asked to see the restaurant manager. He immediately saw how over done the steak was and offered me a replacement. Due to the wait I declined the offer as all I wanted to do by this point was eat and get out. My wife was now very upset as she wanted the evening to be special for me. The desserts arrived very promptly together with extra chocolates. On leaving the restaurant the manager could not apologise enough and insisted we accepted a complimentary return to the Epicurian, which we did. On our return a few days later the service and food could not be faulted and we both enjoyed an extremely good meal and experience, which included a lobster, which neither of us ordered, with our main course. Mistakes do happen and when they do it is best to bring them to the attention of those in charge rather than say nothing and complain later. It is the way the complaint is handled that matters. It was due to this that we booked another meal there later in the cruise, which again was very enjoyable.
  22. I have to agree with True Devonian. Food may well be on a plate but seeing dirty bags on tables is disgusting. It's as bad as putting dirty shoes on a table.
  23. We were there in March this year and it was as david63 describes then. Have a look at the excursions.
  24. Hi Pete. We were on Aurora 30 night last month Canada and USA and needed Internet. We purchased the ultimate package with the 15% discount plus our loyalty discount. I don't know whether Aurora has starlink but we had no problems with the Internet at all over the whole cruise. It worked very well around the ship including our balcony cabin and public areas.
  25. Thank you Selbourne. It was not a test, more about what others would have done. My wife and I are so glad we spoke up for what we wanted and we were not prepared to accept anything less. We did Top of The Rock the day before when the view was partly obscured by low cloud. It made an interesting sight with tops of skyscrapers appearing above the clouds! Nice photos, I'd put some of mine on here but I'm not that technically savvy.
