  1. Not getting a cruise log seems strange as we got one after our 35 day Caribbean and USA trip on Ventura in March this year. Maybe it depends on which ship or which Captain as to whether one is produced?
  2. Just one more option. The Hilton at Ageas Bowl, Southampton. Approx 20 min drive to the docks
  3. I'd rather sit at a bar on the sea front with a beer than queue for a bus!!!
  4. I'm a bit confused by all this. You say about the cabin you are now in, (in post #103), "very strangely it's next door to my original non upgraded one". But in your earlier post #22, you said, "I had booked a select inside but couldn't choose a cabin only area"
  5. I think True Devonian could be suggesting that the tap water is risky due to a medical reason, and therefore bottled water is required.
  6. We were on Ventura from the beginning of March and had the same frustrations re booking The Epicurian. However, we were successful and were able to book 10 days before departure. I think patience is required and suggest you check the website each day before you go. As for entertainment there was no booking required for any show, it was as per the "old days", you just turned up and chose your seat.
  7. When I read that this has happened on Aurora being an adults only ship, it's very worrying. The whole thing is very childish. If I found one I would not put it back but put it in a bin. Not one on board so the crew have to waste their time disposing of it appropriately but in a bin at the next port of call.
  8. Why does it feel like a bit of a penalty? Surely whether you pay by cash, debit card or credit card you always use your own money, do you not?
  9. But we're talking about Oceana not Oceania
  10. Brian, is that restaurant in Tonbridge or Tunbridge Wells?
  11. A traditional cruise ship with the added bonus of it being adults only
  12. Joking aside, The Exchange can be quiet unless there is a sporting event being shown on TV and you don't mind the juke box. However, during November last year there was quite often a quiz at 7.00pm. You may find the Glass House as a good option.
  13. That's fine as long as you are prepared to miss out on an excursion because it's sold out before you get on board.
  14. That's because you only book a table in advance. Some speciality restaurants, Sindu for example, charge for each item separately. And then there are the drinks that need to be paid for. And don't forget, if you use your obc to pay for excursions you do not receive your peninsular discount, whereas you do when you book online before boarding!!
  15. We also enjoy the informative information given at midday and 6.00pm including the maritime tails and history by either the captain or officers from the bridge. But we have to agree with your sentiments about Captain Turnbull. Not only were his jokes dire, but being told how far we were from Deryshire everyday was extremely tiresome.
  16. Whether it's a common occurance or not, I'd rather the captain uses his/her experience and does what he/she needs to do to ensure the safety of passengers and crew. If that means docking in Southampton a few hours early then so be it. Why is there a need to disembark immediately, when there is still food and entertainment to enjoy?
  17. Yes, The Metropolis Bar on deck 18. There was a pianist who played quietly in the background. Very handy if dining in the Epicuriun Restaurant too.
  18. I have read the thread from the beginning and I do have the full facts as you would see from my previous contributions throughout this thread. My point is that P&O do not have a particularly high mark up compared to pubs in my area, plus the fact the drinks are served to you at your table rather than having to purchase from a bar.
  19. With all due respect, I did read your post. My point is that if you are given £150 and buy something using it, then it has not cost you anything, which equates to a 100% discount.
  20. It is churlish. Spending £150 OBC is equivalent to 100% discount as it is money that was given to you!!
  21. Who is the guitar player/singer in the Piano Bar?
  22. And some of the extras costs are; Pianist - £150, Champagne Flutes £50, Signed bridge map of engagement location -£150, Soloist (1 hour) - £200, 2 piece band - £200. 😲😲. I think I got away lightly!!!
  23. Personally I don't mind who the captain is as long as he can point the ship in the right direction and get us to the right place and most importantly safely.
