  1. Hello, Dailyites!

Happy Thanksgiving week to the US contingent, and based on what our Canadian friends are saying about the weather from coast to coast, best wishes to be safe, warm, and dry! @erewhon, I hope you are enjoying a pleasant spring.  UK, Ireland, and Europe - safe and happy holiday preps to all.  I hope I covered everybody . . .

I read a couple of other threads this morning.  Believe me I scurried right back "home"!

Thanks to everyone for the warm birthday wishes.  @ger_77, I wasn't intentionally being sneaky, just quiet I guess.  I love birthdays, and any day that can be called an occasion.  I actually am more like a 5 years old bouncing around like Tigger!  I was a very serious child; I intend to be a feisty and silly retiree!

5 HAL ships!  HAL-a-lu-ya!  Our day will come.

Those of you who are ill or have concerns, thank you for sharing those so that you can benefit from all the prayers and warm thoughts that are sent to you.

  2. Good morning all!  We had a wonderful 3 days in Istanbul in 2006 at the end of our first Prinsendam cruise.  We dearly loved it.  We stayed at a small local hotel, hit the “must-see’s”, and even (bravely) experienced a real Turkish bath house.  My point of view of such things is that nobody knows me so go for it.  Wonderful, beautiful, welcoming, unforgettable.

We’ve been doing some traveling - a week in North Carolina with DSon & DDIL, celebrating my big # 65.  And now we are at the end of a weekend trip to Arkansas seeing extended family.  As it turns out, we neither are nor have company for Thanksgiving, so we will feast with our favorite people (each other).

Roy, so happy that you are back and posting.  This is a rough patch for you, but we are all anticipating you back on cruises collecting new sunrises for us.

    Best to all!

  3. @Suslor, the gremlins attacked me yesterday, so I wasn’t able to respond to your post.

I was excited to see which Neptune you are in.  We are scheduled for 10005 on NS on the last Canada/New England of 2022.  I’ve done quite a bit of searching, and have most of my questions answered, except —-

Is the forward-facing window placed so that you can see out of it while sitting in the chairs?  I’ve wondered, if something taller is needed, if our steward could locate a couple of bar stools.  Darned needy cruisers!

Thank you and I hope you have a WONDERFUL cruise.

  4. I started “new time day” by neglecting to put my cup under the coffee maker spout.  🥴  Fortunately the designing engineers envisioned this possibility, and the base conveniently caught all the wasted coffee.  Aggravation, but not a big mess, thankfully.

Alas, we were supposed to be leaving in just about a month for our epic Southeast Asia cruise adventure.  So thanks all who posted pictures of Bali.

@dfish, I’m very sorry about your heating!  Sleeping in a cold house isn’t too bad, but getting out of bed is the pits!  I do hope it’s an easy fix.

Put me in the category of liking grits and polenta, but I don’t like mushrooms!  As a group, we are very hard to please.

Have fun everyone (except @ger_77) in adjusting our own and our pets’ internal clocks!

  5. Good morning, Daily Family,

All the fall stories bring back painful memories!  Just grateful we all survived to tell the tales.

@dfishI LOVE your sense of humor!

I went to the doctor this week for my “welcome to Medicare” appointment.  <eye roll> I passed the memory quizzes, and was able to name a bunch of animals.  I’ll bet I’m the only one who named Capybara and Cassowary!  😉 I also got my Covid booster.  I am good to go on cruises; only about 11 months to wait.

When I was in college in Arkansas a friend and I went to New Orleans to see King Tut in 1977.  The exhibit of course was unbelievable, but the wait in line was surprisingly fun.  We had brought some cards, and ended up playing cards with people we met in line for a few hours.  Great memories!

Everybody take care, remember your common sense (and common courtesy as long as we are being common), and please stay vertical!

  6. Good morning!  I'm behind several days.

DH has artistic talent both with the brush and charcoal pencil.  His charcoal portraits are treasured in this family, although my personal favorite is an oil painting of me that I call Last Night at Sea.  I'm wrapped in a Holland America robe, standing at the balcony rail on Prinsendam gazing at the Mediterranean.  From 2008, our first cruise on that lovely ship.

Our anniversary is on Mole Day.  As of now, we are schedule to be on a BHB next Mole Day for the 23rd on the 23rd!

We were in Santorini in 2004 on Celebrity Millennium.  We rode the donkeys up, and walked down.  It was great fun.  Somewhere there is a very cute picture of me bidding my trusty steed farewell.

Thanks to all who keep this a fun and lively place to be.  Cheers for those of us who share their happiness, and a full heart for those experience illness and concerns.

  7. BOOMER SOONER!!🏈 Even for this match-up, it was a crazy game.

We are on the NS repositioning cruise next October, Quebec City - FLL 🤞

My mother and I did a land (bus) tour of Eastern Canada in 1987, and all the places being mentioned today sound so familiar.  It will be wonderful to be back, for oh so many reasons.

    Happy weekend!

  8. Today is my day to do everything tomorrow.  We had company over last evening, and I was on my feet all day preparing.  Today I am achy-breaky!  I expect a full recovery after a lazy day of watching sports.  🏈

I have fond memories of the custodian at my elementary school.  Mr. Waldron was the embodiment of friendly kindness.

Not all of our cars have had names, but my beloved Forester is Felix.

DH had his booster last week, I’ll be eligible in November.  Flu shots are coming up in a couple of weeks - I wait until mid-October to be protected into early spring.  In the meantime, we are both masking up when we’re out.

I laughed at the mouse tales.  Even with a multi-cat household, we have mouse stories too.

Best to all, stay safe, plan cruises!

  9. Hi @kazu,

We are not doing the replacement cruise of Inca Exploration and Panama Canal, nor are we doing the subsequent (April 6 2022) Southern Caribbean on Nieuw Statendam.

However, when faced with disappointment, what do good CC'ers do?  BOOK CRUISES.

We are now booked on October 8, 2022 14-Day The Atlantic Coast on NS, B2B with 14-Day Eastern/Tropical Caribbean, likewise NS.  Interestingly, a similar East Coast tour was our first tour cancelled in this Covid mess.  We are hopeful that we've come full circle.

    Thank you!
