  1. Hello, recent HAL cruisers.  For a time, HAL celebrated Orange Night on every cruise.  Are they still doing that, or did that leave along with the previous HAL administration?  We will not be on the ship for King's Day, when I expect a celebration would be more likely.

    Thanks!

  2. @Horizon chaser 1957, we too have accelerated our travel planning and splurging.  DH is in his 80's, still reasonably able.  We have a 2-week cruise coming in a few weeks, then a 2-week land trip with family soon after, Montreal - FLL cruise in October, and the real splurge is Voyage of the Vikings in the summer of '23.  Long flights sound daunting now, so we are fortunate to have so many options from North American ports.  We are motivated and optimistic, and will travel however we can for as long as possible.  We have traveled more than either of us ever dreamed before we met.  The memories and the map covered in dots that I'm gazing at are priceless.  @HAL Sailer, my heart goes out to you and I pray that I will have your grace when my time comes.  ❤️

@Sharon in AZthanks so much for your kind comments about my name!  I was touched.

    Have a great afternoon everyone!

  3. A salute to women, each of us works many jobs!  I also have a special place in my soul for my (younger) friends raising strong daughters.

We both have home offices.  Mine is much better organized now than when I had a room full of “real work” computers and stuff.  It requires constant attention to keep it in line, though.  DH’s office is another matter.  OMG it is terrible.  He occasionally says he’s going to tackle it, but never does.  I avoid it.

We haven’t had an update about baby watch in a day or so.  I hope that means there’s a beautiful baby!

I have memory foam shoes.  They don’t work.

No BeanieWeenies for me, thank you.

Thanks to all who share their joys and heartaches, pictures and memes.

My best to all, and to 🇺🇦

  4. Good morning!

I really like the dentist I’ve gone to for many years, but I loathe his new-ish hygienist.  She is rough and talks to me as if I were a kindergartner.

I’m not fond of my name, Robin, and I certainly didn’t like being the subject of the “robin” songs we learned in grade school.  I wasn’t named for anyone, and in fact family lore has it that one of my grandparents commented “I guess Robin is for the birds”.  C’est la vie.

hmmmm, I seem to be a whiner this morning!  Time for another cup of coffee and an attitude adjustment. I can do that, especially since early trip preparations are on the agenda for the day.

Best to all, bon voyage for all our cruisers.

    Strength and victory 🇺🇦

  5. DH owns a tuxedo, and it has been on cruises - back in the day when we packed near everything we owned.  Since it’s relatively heavy and has much volume, it no longer comes along.  I agree it was nice, but it’s not worth the trouble and added expense in luggage.

  6. Good Sunday afternoon everyone!

I agree with all the sentiments about Ukraine.  I just hate the whole mess.  And Ukraine will now negotiate, and likely make some concessions to, the vandals who just broke into their home.  An unbelievable tragedy.

@dfishand @smitty34877I love that Tana is reviewing and selecting menus from Debbie’s wonderful suggestions.  I’m sure Tana knows she now has good friends around the world. 🤗

@Quartzsite Cruiser, Lenda, I’m glad you extended your K’dam trip.  Your additional week will overlap with our first week.  I hope to meet you aboard!

Everyone, take care, hug your loved ones whether of 2 or 4 legs.  Spring is just around the corner, I’m sure of it!

  7. I have had very good luck with the Shore Excursion desk and wait lists.  One caveat!  Make sure you choose the option for “need more information”.  I discovered when I confused both myself and the person on the phone, that if you choose the option to purchase, you go to the regular cruise reservation people.  They are definitely helpful, but not the ShoreEx specialists.  Good luck!

  8. @aliaschief, so glad you received a fast and treatable diagnosis.  I know you are relieved.

There are many of you currently dealing with the healthcare systems in US and Canada; wherever you are it can be frustratingly slow.  Each one of you is in my thoughts.

NE OK weather report:  Bright sunshine but still below freezing.  Tulsa is pretty good about clearing the main roads, but neighborhoods are SOL - that’s Sleet Outa Luck.  Our amusement for the last couple of days has been watching random cars trying to make it up the hill.  Temperatures are set to climb, so I should be able to put the trash out safely on Sunday afternoon!

    Best to all.

  9. Hello Everyone,

I echo those of you who have commented on the failure of (apparently all the leaders with the guns) who fail to study and learn from history.  What is happening now is heartbreaking for Ukraine, and terrifying for all of us.

    *******

@msmayor, best wishes on baby watch!!

@ger_77, I’m glad your DH finally has an appointment for the care he needs.  I hope this means that you two will be able to plan travel soon!

@kazu, I smiled that you are planting chilies for Jose!  May he enjoy many more crops.

Thank you and my best to everyone.

  10. @StLouisCruisers, Sandi, I know you keep records of the ports that we've discussed here.  When we had Antarctica, I believe it was you who posted not only pictures, but quite a bit of information about Shackleton.  If you can let me know when that might I have been posted, I'll look it up.  DH is reading a book about Shackleton now, and I think he would enjoy your photos and comments.

    Thank you!
