I told them, that I will NEVER be in another connecting room after that fiasco. The housekeeping director told me upon disembarkation, that they have a "Simple 10 minute fix" for the noise. He said it is called something like a "Tape Seal". He told me that the connecting room doors intentionally have a "gap" so families can communicate through them. As, that is "Normally" who reserves connecting rooms. On disembarkation morning, I had a beam of light from their room, shining directly on my face, through the connecting door, to my pillow on the bed. It was that large of a gap. And, I had told this to our stateroom attendant daily. I actually have a picture of the light beam through our room at 5:00am on disembarkation morning, while I was still trying to sleep.

really thank you for sharing as i might not have pressed my concerns i will be doing that first thing tomrrow! im sorry you had to deal with it though

Warning. We just had a MAJOR dilemma with a connecting room during our October 27th-Nov. 3rd Harmony cruise. We weren't loud at all. But, the neighbors kept yelling at my GF, and I to be quiet through the connecting door. We could hear everything from their room. Bathroom, talking, etc.. They called and complained to housekeeping, and security. Became a nightmare of a week.

STILL waiting for the call from Royal, that the housekeeping and hotel director told me I would be receiving.

yeah im going to go ahead and give royal a call in the morning and see if i can be moved or even pay the difference of what the guarantee room vs you pick room would be.

AHA!  Now that's a helpful answer.  Did not know this!!!!

sorry i should have mentioned that in my first response, this is somthing you can turn off in your settings. can be useful at home if you don't have unlimited data and seem to be cutting it close or going over each month, our phone run alot of apps and auto refreshes in the background if we don't go in and manually turn them off

believe I had surf and stream because we had the KEY package.

gotcha, not sure what caused the extra charge then. AT&T will be able to tell you exactly what they are charging you for and then if its something you should have been covered with on the ship get a hold of RC. sounds like you have a little bit of phone tag to be playing so i do wish you the best, it does seem like you had your self pretty well cover and could very well be a mistake on either parties side

Oh. Same company. I think they recently changed names. This just happened to me. I left it until the last minute and am sailing Saturday. LOL. I’m pretty sure that you can do the same. You have to email to redeem the GC anyways. In my email to redeem, I mentioned that I was assured by customer service  I can put it towards on board credit. They will respond that they can’t but can put it on your credit card. I didn’t even have to ask twice. They offered. Good luck if you try this!

hmm maybe i will give it a try, i mean lets be honest worse case scenario i have too put it towards my next cruise.. darn a reason too book another, what a shame 😄

  6. you should have been in air plane mode, you would still be able to connect to wifi and bluetooth but being in airplane more or turning off cell data would keep your phone from searching for cell service at all. assuming you were doing somthing that doesnt go through wifi such as messaging or calling (except if its iphone to iphone messages are sent via wifi when available) so your phone defaulted to using its cell signal. im sorry that happened too you because im sure it was an honest mistake, your best bet is to get in touch with AT&T (WHEN ON LAND lol) and see if they will remove some or all of the charges

Is it through Workhuman? I just redeemed some work points for a gift card. I had asked RC if I could add it to my account and use it as on board credit prior to purchasing the gc. They said yes. I bought the card and then I was told that I could only use it towards the balance of the cruise reservation. If you have not made the final payment, you should be able to do that. I had already paid for my cruise in full unfortunately. I was pretty upset. They ended up refunding the value of the GC to the credit card on file that I used to pay for the cruise. It all worked out ultimately.

global force my company uses, and yes i'm paid in full and sail in 40 days, i was hoping to have it as OBC or just put it towards the bill at the end because i know ill book at least one excursion on this ship. does sound like that did work out pretty good for you though! no guarantee it would work the same for me so i will just pick something else !
    good info though thank you

What is the concern?  It's literally a door instead of a piece of the wall, but it serves as a door because it's locked.  Doesn't change the size of the room in any way.

That said, it puts my own situation in better perspective.  They re-categorized me TWICE on an upcoming Oasis cruise and I asked exactly this question - aka surely there are some folks who don't NEED (or apparently want) the connecting capability.  They basically told me tough luck until I pressed hard enough to get (supposedly) the last two connecting rooms available.

only concern i would have would just be more sound let through i.e mainly us disturbing them coming back to the room late lol but like i said above it they don't change it no big deal, wont damper my vacation 🙂

If you don't know the connecting neighbor, the door between the two rooms will be closed and locked so that your neighbor can't walk in.

still not my ideal situation, ill see if they will change it if not no big deal i will avoid the guarantee in the future, this was my first time trying it

  10. just did this for my January sailing and it seems i have a connecting room.. not with anyone i know lol seems like that would be weird. do you think they will change it for me if i call?
also have a few royal up bids in i might have to go up my bid number to help make sure i get one haha

  11. So my company does recognition through a 3rd party site, you can get points then redeem them for basically anything. None of the items are really of good value when using the points so i typically just go with a gift card. i just noticed they have a Royal Caribbean gift card on there, just curious if anyone's had one or knows if it can only be used for bookings or can i bring it on one of my sailings and apply it to my bill at the end of the cruise?
    Any info helps, thanks!

I agree with the supply and demand theory, which is why I don't understand when people book anything in the planner  at an outrageous price hoping that it will come down and they can rebook at the new price. That practice in theory will only drive the price higher. I also believe that they track our views on a products and price it accordingly to our curiosity price. Although I'm probably giving the IT department too much credit.

But maybe not even enough credit, RC is a multi billion dollar a year company they have the means to collect basically any data they want. although i cant confirm that RC does it but its been discovered (majorly in the airline business) that they can track your visits too the site and what your searching, and also make sure you are seeing something that not everyone else might be seeing. like if they know i keep checking the price on a specific flight they can increase it then drop it a little causing me to most likely book because they just showed me that scary high number while someone else casually searching might be seeing a much lower number. there is ways for those situations to browse more protected and keep them from knowing your location and history. I don't know the likely-hood they are using such algorithms but defiantly a possibility. we really never know.

At the end of the day we all want the best price possible but for me the way i see it there is a certain number per day that would make me feel like i'm getting my moneys worth. if i never see it below then ill pay per drink and so be it, if i get it below that number or catch a price reduction then that's all a bonus to me.

Oasis and Anthem are the same price for me right now, a few weeks apart.  Ovation down under $2 more.  Ovation had been trending really high, like ***** kind of high but came down a month or so ago.  Mariner and Navigator are higher but those are short cruises.  Voom is higher on Ovation and it hasn't dropped much, but that's another story.

I really don't think you can apply any absolutes about beverage package pricing.  There is no rhyme or reason to the variations.  It appears random but it really is a supply and demand thing on a case by case basis.

you also bring up a good point with the vroom because the combo of DP and S&S internet is priced at 65pp right now that it self is like 12pp. we will have a pet sitter at home that we would like to be able to reach so we were planning on getting some sort of internet package aswell, that would mean the DP it self would have to be under like 52pp for us to be getting a better deal not going with the combo pack (if my math checks out anyway, its been along day but i think i have the numbers crunched right lol )

  14. might make a separate thread for this but its somewhat similar so ill try here first, im doing a 8 night in January on adventure and would also like to see a compass.. or really what im looking for is how many formal nights/semi or any other special things i should be prepared for. we typically do MDR everynight should i bring two suits? ive always been someone to over dress vs under, wouldnt go to dinner in less than a collar slacks and dress shoes/dress boots

  15. to either the OP or anyone who has booked or gone on a tour through woodwind before, question for you;
how far in advance did you book the tour?
i just recently found out they were even a thing after it coming so highly recommended here on CC i was going to reach out and make a reservation. problem being im now here they book out pretty far and its probably a long shot them having availability for the first week of Jan.
    Any info helps thanks!

(Im still going to reach out either way, always worth a shot but curious on your experiences)
