  1. this is a thread from 2022...the coffee card info was posted July 22...it took me a bit to realize that someone had resurrected an old thread.☺️
  2. I have a cruise in March that was scheduled for Lahaina...I know it will not go to Lahaina, I doubt it will go to Maui, but that is not really my concern at this point. My heart is sad for the people of Lahaina, Maui & Hawai'i...for the loss of homes, businesses, livelihoods...for all the amazing history lost...but mostly for the people lost & for those who can't locate their loved ones & don't know if they are alive or dead...I am not a fire or recovery expert, but the previous worst fire in the country hit close to me (I had lived in Paradise for years, my parents spent their retirement years in the area of the Camp Fire & I had family & friends there during that time)...when I visited about a year later, they had barely begun to rebuild...there are so many factors, it is not like rebuilding after a single house fire, the fire can be so hot that toxic metals leach into the ground, trees can burn from the roots & the ground itself may need to be remediated before any building can start & many other factors need to be considered & this was in a place where there was easy access to materials & supplies not on an island in the middle of the ocean...but all that will remain a question for some time, the fire chief said it best in one of the press conferences I watched...I wish I had his exact words but to paraphrase...they area needs to be treated as sacred, they need time to go in & recover & remove the bones of their friends & family...the fire is not even out yet & last I heard they had only searched 3% of Lahaina...this is first, to care for the living, recover the lost, to grieve & then for the experts to do their stuff & the people of Maui & Lahaina to decide how best to rebuild for their families & their economy not for us & when they are ready they will welcome us back...but in the meantime we need to support them in any way we can (prayer, supplies, money...) & remember that they have sustained an unimaginable blow
  3. I have used air tag accessories for our medallions, the only problem has been if they are jeweled sometimes it interferes with the signal...my BIL just sticks his loose in his pocket with no problem
  4. she will only see it if the expenses are paid on her credit card...I always have my whole group on mine so I can monitor them for charges we didn't make (this is important through out the cruise) so as soon as we board I go to customer service & have them use my card for both rooms in our group & only then can I see the charges...we also have them set the medallions to all open both cabin so that we can visit back & forth (you might want one of you or your wife to monitor the onboard charges every day or two so that you can catch any problems early)
  5. she was in dry dock before our Hawai'i cruise in March (I did talk quite a bit about her condition in my live) ...we found our beds very comfortable, but others in our roll call did not...I thought she felt comaprable to the other older ships of her class...needed more maintenance but basically sound, but again others on our cruise had problems with plumbing etc...so I guess it depends...
  6. the storm it far enough away that they should not have much trouble from it. here are 2 threads about their voyage: if you really feel you need to talk to them there should be a number to reach the ship on the Princess website
  7. in my experience they happen if someone in your rollcall decides to coordinate them & then you add to the spreadsheet, unless, of course, you want to coordinate any or all of them... I only know about cabin crawls where someone recruits people who are willing to have the group come to their cabin hopefully getting as many cabin types as possible...then sets up a schedule & a place to start... for the bar crawl, bars are public places you could probably just show up, but if it will be a big group it might be nice to warn them, maybe whoever is doing your meet & greet could ask their contact how that would work? rubber ducks seem more like an individual thing to me so I am not sure how that would work, although on our last cruise I had a couple of people listed as bringing ducks
  8. well that's a very good question!!!...it used to be right where they told you to use the app to check in but it's gone & on the app the support tab has no support...now I am looking...if I find it will let you know
  9. call the Medallion app help people & they can change it...it has happened a couple of times to us
  10. interesting...I tried last January on the Majestic & was told it was not possible by the future cruise people...maybe it's changed (what Princess change the rules? can't be that) or maybe the person I talked to didn't know what was what (a Princess employee not knowing the rules? that can't be possible either, so maybe I imagined the whole thing 🤪)...glad to know it can be done...thanks for all the info you are sharing
  11. I don't know of any other options with a shuttle to the pier...the Best Western which would have been a less attractive choice anyway was converted to housing for homeless veterans...
  12. Princess bread is one of highlights of a cruise for sure, but real San Francisco sourdough bread is a true treasure
  13. they do serve a buffet at the luau but still have the traditional luau show in addition to the evening Ha performance but there is also a buffet restaurant which has a more extensive buffet but no luau performances just a couple of musicians doing songs by request...the PCC offers the Ali'i Luau package at $190 or the Gateway Buffet package at $140 among other choices
  14. I still don't have an invoice for one of our rooms either...just a forwarded email from our TA that the system is having trouble with sending them...
  15. are you going in Jan 24? I was frustrated with the Princess tour for the following reasons: it didn't start until noon so by the time we got to the PCC (after 2 & they close at 5:30) it was a rush to see even a fraction of what they have to offer the bus driver told us to leave the show halfway through so that we would beat the traffic (this was one of the best parts of the day & I was very disappointed) they charged us for the luau but then switched to the buffet which was very good but a much less expensive option if the villages are the important part I would definitely go on your own or with the PCC transportation (it is walkable to/from Aloha towers or check Uber/Taxi...if you want the evening show, then it is a different decision process (how willing are you to risk missing the ship if traffic is terrible) & if you do go with the Princess excursion talk to the excursion people ahead of time about what to do if the bus driver says to leave early... I did put a much longer discussion of this & our trip to the PCC in my live from our cuise on the Crown in March if you want more of my thoughts & lots of photos
  16. 2 suggestions: if you follow it, you can find it by going to manage followed content (click on your user name above) I have transferred my lives to a document to save by copy/pasting each post, tedious but it makes sure they are saved (I write them partly for myself as a travel diary & partly to share)
  17. I have always had to book excursions separately for each room
  18. glad you are safely home & testing negative...quite the adventure!
  19. that's what I thought!!!! sigh...Princess is trying really hard to make us not love them anymore...
