  1. well yours must have been a bit off because I have done two DCL and everyone was nicely behaved. I find entitled bad folks on all ships, but for DCL I give a lot of wiggle room as the kids are excited for the characters. Sorry you had a large lady but in but that can happen at the parks too. I think the food on Disney is very good and I am on the Fantasy May 27th and can't wait.
  2. yes I do like Celebrity but more and more I meet folks who have like the new Carnival ships and did not find then any more loud than other ships. RCI Oasis class are loud and music everywhere. I did like the Vision of the Seas which is older and smaller. Not such booming loud music and lots of places to sit. Crew friendlier on smaller ships too IMHO. NCL is also loud as well but again so are a lot of ships at the pool and in buffet.
  3. oh my - until I read the words above I thought this was a foggy sunrise. still nice photo
  4. oh welcome back. Have you lost your sea legs yet? And how quickly will you return to sailing. More important estimate how many photos your took on your world cruise. toodles I am sailing on disney Fantasy starting May 27 for 7 days. Gonna watch cute kiddies around the ship since I have none myself.
  5. Agee as I did Hal ship a while ago and this year sailing on the new CCL Celebration with all the wonderful fast food options and layout of ship
  6. Not sure what you are getting at by saying Princess is vanilla. Also newer Carnival ships are a lot more like RCI than you think. I feel like you have labeled all the other lines so you can feel good about just RCI. All the lines are getting competitive and the new Dun Princess when it comes out will now have a dome area like Icon.
  7. For the most part kids really behave on DCL and cute outfits are seen a lot too. I mention adult areas for anyone wondering but honestly I enjoy whole ship. I enjoy the private island too and the family area. They have adult beach but honestly it is too quiet and small do me.
  8. Yes and Spanish is more common and I wish I could speak it. Then again those folks should think the same in reverse for English as well.
  9. What no Disney? Kidding but try DCL too. I go out of Bayonne twice this year as well as each Fla port on coast. perhaps I might try Virgin too as folks rave about food options and all inclusive specialty as well
  10. Aw were you one of those on the early cruises. I did the 6th and we got the full Aqua show but not effectors
  11. Yes nice. I think Carnival and Cunard does as well
  12. Yup I was as my room was towards the front of ship. If I go on Breakaway again I would pick a room up one level and back furthet
  13. If I had to do it over I would have kept up with my Spanish from high school. The Walmart comment refers to too many constant announcements. while I get that announcements need to be made for multiple languages, I do try to avoid those cruises as it can be annoying at times.
  14. I had several from 2021 that have now fallen off so they are trying to clean up profiles
  15. wow anyone else think the dome looks like what is being put on the new RCI ICON???? Nice to see old names being recycled. I was thinking of doing Sun Princess, but I usually wait for the 2nd in a class.
  16. i picked the Grand for Alaska on purpose because I wanted to try an older Princess ships to enjoy the wrap around outdoor promenade and the enclosed pool. Will be on her for 14 days in Alasak r/t Vancouver doing all ports twice, The thing about new ships is there is less outdoor space and lots of rooms up the back and on the sides. I have only sailed on Cairbbean Princess and I love aft area of the ship with the ramp to upper area and lots of seating in the aft too.
  17. I have sailed on Breakaway and I agree about big screen in H2O. Not nice to look at. I liked Escape better. I agree on Cagney's as my steak was tough and cold as well. As for SIX, you could have gone in just before showtime as walkin and stood in the back. It was a good show Yes atrium can be a bit too loud and they should block off some of the bar areas so that folks sitting on 2nd level can enjoy the activities. And for me in the solo area, My room every night could hear the music coming up through the floors two levels. I could hear the thumping bass just enough to not enjoy the tv.
  18. make sure you have a nice book to mark your spot in buffet, and enjoy people watching. I have cruised a long time solo and folks will strike up conversations with you all the time or you strike up a conversation. The crew will definitely enjoy talking to you. I feel safe on ships and can mix and mingle as much as I want. And when you see some folks arguing, you can be happy you are alone.
  19. great comment. Nice to try variety of ships. I do not believe in loyalty to just one cruise line.
  20. Should be as I was on the sister "Vista" and loved it. food was good and nice 5 tier cakes at lunch in back of buffet. Nice music in smaller atrium bar area. Newer Carnival ships can and do compete with other cruise lines. Bed was comfy too
  21. Yea hearing announcements in 5 languages would make me feel like I was at Walmart with all the announcements. No thanks. I have heard MSC ships are pretty inside but overall very European and kids not behaving as well as they should. European parents idea of fun and letting kids be kids differs from other countries. I do not think kids under 6 should be in bars and lounges after 10pm. oh well
  22. yes I have heard about "H" cruise line. But a lot of Americans might not have or think that line is geared toward Europeans. Still I like what HAL does in Norway.
  23. I bet it was not as hard as what I had on Vision of the Seas. Still when I sail on her out of Boston in Sept, I might ask for egg crate.
