  1. Yes! The same thing happened to us. I got a really bad cold in St. Petersburg, went to the ship doctor and got what I needed. By the time we got to Oslo, and we’re off the ship and on the extension, my husband got it. Went to the pharmacy near the train station and our hotel and was told they don’t have cold remedies. So, now, better safe than sorry. In fact I just finished packing all that for our trip next week.
  2. Thank you. That’s the main rule on the US site too. But under additional rules it says: On certain flights with Lufthansa Regional or where country-specific variations apply (flights from Italy, India and the USA), First and Business Class passengers must check in their second piece of carry-on baggage. I have no idea whether Barcelona to Frankfurt is a regional flight. Oh, well, we shall see…
  3. Agree. Having lived all my life in SoCal until retirement, I am used to flying out of LAX, and I know there are better options that what Zalusky was given. I’m sure they will find something. Since you went through Munich, I’m wondering if Munich to Athens was on Lufthansa. We fly back from Barcelona to Frankfurt on Lufthansa and I’m still trying to figure out their business class carry on policy. They say we can take two roll a-boards each- unless there is some reason that we can’t. Not entirely clear and I don’t want to check them. Any info is appreciated. And, by the way, I’ve really been enjoying the chronicle of your trip!
  4. If you are paying for air plus, I don’t know why you would accept such an itinerary! Find something else you like better and see if it is available to Viking. If you are flying from California, (SFO?) you should have all kinds of good options available to you. We fly to Athens in two weeks, and even from Santa Fe we have flights on Delta through SLC to Amsterdam, to Athens, arriving at 4 pm. If nothing else get to SLC and take Delta 56 to Amsterdam, and then 9573 to Athens. Good luck!
  5. Can’t wait to get out of here in two weeks. Horrible cold and snow. Pueblo architecture has flat roof, so canales for rain gutters. Here is a picture of ours.
  6. (Sorry, I can’t get this to format correctly) Yes. We are booked in two weeks on a longer cruise that has two sections. We were able to book all our nights at the specialty restaurants as soon as booking opened. We got all our reservations between 6:30 and 8. We are in a PV. We had the same experience on our 2019 WC, which had five or six sections,.
  7. I believe it covers the VIking pre and post extensions, because after booking a cruise, and taking Tripmate, we went back to add an extension and that raised the insurance price.
  8. Your quoted post is five years old. No more wish list capability.
  9. It is also my understanding that this is for both Viking air and Viking air plus. Some people have interpreted this now as Viking getting ready to get rid of air plus. It is a new feature from about last summer, I would say. A disclaimer though: first, we had Air Plus; second, although I changed flights twice, I was too afraid I’d mess things up if I did it myself, so I called my TA, who put us on a conference call with Viking to get things changed. And finally, flights that at first I was told were not available turned out to be available a few weeks later. I imagine there might still be a few kinks in the system.
  10. Yes. Once Viking selects the flights, they appear on MVJ and you can change the flights within Viking’s offerings and also get or change seats. Once ticketed, about 75 days out, the change flight option disappears and only the change seat option remains.
  11. Yes, airline, flights and seats. We have done many air plus delta flights, and are on another in a couple of weeks. And yes, there is an emergency number. I have only used it once to change flights to go a day early between big snowstorms. That worked well, but it was on a world cruise, where your airfare is included, and it was in 2019, before COVID.
  12. I also keep watching the attire as we leave in just over three weeks. Regardless of what we pack, I’m pretty sure we will arrive at the airport in parkas. It has just been miserable here. But those first sunny days sure look nice!
  13. We are doing this cruise in Feb. 2024. Having done a world cruise with Viking, five days at sea doesn’t bother us at all, in fact one of the reasons I booked this was because of all the sea days. Viking is great at enrichment lectures, and always has lots of activities to keep you busy. I took art classes, bridge lessons, my husband did photography classes. And then there is the food—always some nice buffets on sea days. And the spa! And no shopping, cooking, cleaning. Just pampering. As for payment, 18 months seems a lot, I thought the usual was a year. Have you asked them about reducing it. But once you have a cruise booked, you can book another with six months final payment. So, I’d say go for it! I bet you will enjoy it.
  14. Yes. Yuck! Still snowing here. Maybe I’ll switch to an Irish coffee.
  15. OK, I am sick of Rocky Mountain winter. We had an almost white out blizzard here today. I want a Mai Tai. To make me think of warmer climes. I know Viking doesn’t do umbrella drinks, but I’ll take one without the umbrella. Please! Only 25 days till we go to Greece, Turkey and the Mediterranean. Yay!
  16. I just read this too. Sign me up! (Except the owners suite is already sold)
  17. You are absolutely correct about Amazon. I might have misunderstood CDNPolar. What happened to me was I had the SSBP in my cart for $x on Jan. 1, the day the prices increased, and went to purchase it for $x. My transaction went through, and they thanked me for purchasing. Next thing I know MVJ shows I haven’t paid in full, for a cruise I had paid in full 3-4 months ago. I couldn’t book anything else until I “paid in full,” which meant the extra $175 I think it was for the package. I had never received an alert from Viking that the item I wanted to purchase had changed price. I had to have my TA get in touch with Viking the next day and pay the extra. I thought it was bad enough on the day of the change over, and I though CDNPolar had the same thing happen weeks later. Just no excuse for that, in my opinion.
  18. If I may say one more thing about this: we book PV so we have a good chance of getting the shore ex and dining that we want. We book a PV1 to get the place on the ship we want our cabin. But the various increments within a cabin category do not get you a better place in line to book shore ex. DV 1-6 all book at the same time, and there are a lot of them!
  19. All DV cabins have the same booking window, DV 1-6. So a lot of people! The only way to get a “better” booking window is to go up to a PV cabin, and again, all those, PV 1-3 have the same booking window.
  20. Well, I think it is certainly wonderful to have friends who have friends. Thank you so much! My husband also says that he remembers the restaurant had an “animal” name, so I guess this it is. I will book 4-6 weeks out, especially since we will have to go on a Friday or Sat. Looking forward to being in your beautiful city again!
  21. Andy, you are more than kind! I’m glad you are getting out again. I believe you have a new RV this past year. And hope you can cruise again. We are loading up on cruises against the day we can’t any more. But I am hoping for a long time!!
  22. Oh, thank you. I do think it is crocodile, given where it is and where we were staying five years ago. Vancouver is a treat for us.
  23. Oh, I remember well trying to adjust from pacific time. I believe Athens is ten hours difference for you. Wishing you a warm, sunny day! The adventure begins. And ours in just one month!!
