If anyone is interested, the exemption for cruise ships in Australia to go between Australian ports runs out soon. That like the American PVSA or Jones act. If you would like to support the Australian cruise industry, feel free. https://www.aph.gov.au/e-petitions/petition/EN6353?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR3VEcoULo0dl1cxljvDsu0gkqzJVYImxFYj35fLPLthPAnVlexvBEXEr2A_aem_1gVPiVw-CFT4stjyI0HspA

Australia Cruise Market 2024
Chiliburn replied to JJK2008's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
It seems it’s in the CC guidelines, I’ll post it on the Royal forum. Maybe you might like to post it on other forums. https://www.aph.gov.au/e-petitions/petition/EN6353?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR3VEcoULo0dl1cxljvDsu0gkqzJVYImxFYj35fLPLthPAnVlexvBEXEr2A_aem_1gVPiVw-CFT4stjyI0HspA -
It could be a port of call ,they say the treatment plant has a unique ambience .

No ,Gladstone has LNG but only an export terminal , not fueling facilities. Andrew Forrest is behind it so I would say he might have a barge to move it around. A Oasis in Shanghai would bump a Quantum to Alaska over the northern winter. Anthem ,Ovation and Quantum would be able to take advantage of that new terminal in Seward . https://www.adn.com/business-economy/2024/04/21/with-commitment-from-royal-caribbean-alaska-railroad-advances-137m-plan-to-revamp-seward-dock/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR068KYPegivoR_fpFQENRcHjIcvnz-byeP_BnMkn4TpP0sqLNvI45gXQ-E_aem_AUqndKfTUb5x3EkdKoKD1JzTCOrM7Xnqx8GMfbnmZDlCTq28ItS8lxMHf-iGst8nE-lHp90Pprmhb42Gbd3GfVgd

Port Kembla LNG terminal is near completion and I think we may have the potential for a LNG powered Oasis or Icon class in the future. The channel in port Kembla has had an upgrade and dredged to take some of the largest ships around so the gas can get in . Royal Caribbean is rumoured to order another Icon and I believe an eighth Oasis class all LNG and the Caribbean ports are full. Is that 12 of the big ships ? Shanghai ,Singapore and Tauranga all ready has ship LNG . I think we now have the potential for a L.N.G powered ship split between Asia and Port Kembla . It would solve the carbon emissions problem. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-04-13/australias-first-gas-terminal-nears-completion/103701306

Memories of the Upgrade Fairy
Chiliburn replied to Sparky74's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Yep ,no guarantees. I booked one once online , my agent called and asked if I made a mistake. I went ahead with it and we couldn’t sleep as there was a sewage main next to the cabin. It used to vibrate the whole cabin. -
Memories of the Upgrade Fairy
Chiliburn replied to Sparky74's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Upgrades were a rush when you got them. They are still getting around via club Royal . I’m not a gambler but people I know get them and free cruises. A lady I know that lives in Sydney got 4 free cruises offered to her last season from Club Royal. It seems if you have any desire to gamble the benefits are pretty good. -
Deployment 2025-26 booking season begins

I think (could be wrong)it was only about 6 months out with Anthem. A year would be nice mainly to find replacement cruises. -
Deployment 2025-26 booking season begins
Chiliburn replied to SummmerInKefalonia's topic in Royal Caribbean International
The cruises are all still for sale , Vicky Freed isn’t completely reliable . Theres still a very slight chance Serenade could be switched and Voyager might follow Explorer and Brilliance back to the Caribbean. -
I’m booked on it and if it goes around Africa, I don’t think they will take passengers. Fuel is in short supply and they would probably break it up into two cruises. I don’t think Capetown would handle the flights with a turn around . Plus would they have enough Budweiser and Fosters in Africa to resupply the ship ? But if they do tank passengers,I’m on it .
-
That’s what will probably happen and Serenade still isn’t deployed ,that’s unusual. Its only a bit over a year away and Serenade hasn’t got anywhere confirmed as a home port.

Or even a bit of interporting during the winter months. That’s where they pick up passengers from Brisbane and Sydney .Then do a lap of the islands or Queensland coast. They wouldn’t have a problem filling a ship with locals and climate refugees.
-
There’s plenty of older ships they could deploy here . The Caribbean is getting pretty congested. But that $200k plus just to tie up in circular quay would scare anyone off. Brisbane really has something going for a year round deployment with the extreme temperatures they are getting in the northern hemisphere . There’s a market for climate refugees , the snow birds or heat birds can fly a bit farther south to Brisbane.

I’m booked on the last cruise out of Ravenna on the 27th October before the repositioning on November 3 . Thats a month or more earlier than my bookings ,that’s about the time their ships move to east coast U.S.A.

Does anyone know if this is applicable to Australians ? It used to be for U.S. and Canada residents but I can’t find that anymore. Hardrock Resorts now have a reciprocal thing also.

Australia Cruise Market 2024
Chiliburn replied to JJK2008's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
A question I would like to ask is when all these ships pull out of Australia there’s going to be no revenue to pay these bloated government employees. What happens then ? Big Redundancy payments. Some of the deckhand’s are qualified to master a ship. They are just killing the golden goose. -
Cruise borders simplified

I remember about 30 years ago me and a mate was on the rock and roll. We did a scuba diving trip to Guam and the big ship graveyard in Truk lagoon. We put our form in on the way to the the airport and when we got back. Immigration just wanted to ask how our holiday was because they were diving enthusiast. The good old days before the internet. -

I suppose with the last 30 years of globalisation and free trade ,things could be changing back to protectionism. With the threat of conflict they might try to bring some of our industry back and cruise ships are caught in the crossfire. -

I found a nice video for you. -
As you posted ,it looks like Serenade with port bookings, will be going to the Caribbean and not Australia. That shoots my theory down in flames.

I think they need a reality check. Especially the statement about Royal Caribbean having 3 ships. Quantum has a short season and then there’s Ovation . I don’t know what the 3rd ship is unless it’s Celebrity Edge.
