  1. I agree about the table... but I'm hoping that in January in the Caribbean I can enjoy the balcony. That table seems perfect.
  2. That sounds AMAZING! Has anyone had this on any of the Ocean Ships or is this just on the Expedition class?
  3. Leftover muffin! 🤣 I did not expect and answer like that! But when needs be! Yes those early excursions have their challenges. I am really looking forward to a Mamsen's Waffle when I'm aboard the Star in January.
  4. There are so many options for breakfast on the Viking Ocean vessels! What are your favorite splurge breakfasts? What are the quickest options? Do you have any special breakfast memories from your cruise? Best healthy options? Sea Day vs Port Day preferences? Is there anything you avoid?
  5. It seems they are mostly objecting to cruse ships registered in countries with little oversight. It seems to me Viking ships, registered in Norway, would be more welcome!
  6. @photopro2 Yes! It really does make one feel like an explorer! @OneSixtyToOne Ahhh.... getting together your Holiday Gift Wish List?
  7. Maybe when their done with this adventure they'll grab a drink and fill us in. 🙂
  8. It seems to me all this talk of COVID regulations might be best discussed with Viking directly. It might be nice to keep this lounge as a place for lighter conversation? I don't mean to say that it is an unimportant discussion at all... but this particular thread was started more for enjoyment than for trip serious and importnant trip logistics. 🙂 I'm going to grab a nice glass of chardonnay and settle in upstairs in a chair overlooking the view... who wants to join me?
  9. One of the train excursions on our excursion list (for the Jan. 4 partial transit) is longer and more expensive than the other. It seem to stop at the Miraflores Lock Visitor Center and you see an IMAX film on the Panama Canal narated by Morgan Freeman. I found a clip:
  10. What did the ladies thing of the Emberá Indian Village visit? How difficult was the trip? Did they feel like the visit was respectful? Sometimes I worry about these kinds of visits being exploitive in some way.
  11. I highly recommend the Glass Flower collection at The Harvard Museum of Natural History. They are incredible. No photo can do them justice. And you will not see anything like them anywhere else in the world. Actually that would be a neat "Privileged Access" excursion for Viking to look into! https://hmnh.harvard.edu/glass-flowers
  12. Suggestion… don’t overlook “Children’s Literature” as you will often find their simplified descriptions of technical things… like the working of the Panama Canal… useful.
  13. Fabulous news! So they should be terrific in January when I sail. Hey… no jumping on the beds between now and then! Especially in Cabin 4044!
  14. Well I'm surprised. I was expecting to stop. It was my understanding that they didn't want large ships and that odds were good the smaller Viking Ship would get to stop. I'd like to know why some cruises are getting $150pp onboard credit and others are not. Maybe ther is a reason that makes sense. I may not like the reason but I'd still like to know why.
  15. I'm new to cruising our of Ft Lauderdale... or anywhere in the USA frankly... I'm concerned with disembarking and having to go through customs and getting to the airport on time. Can you tell me what that process is like? (I'm going to be cruising with Viking.) Will be disembarking on January 18 and will need to get my own transportation to the FLL airport. Thank you!!!
  16. Some of us on the July 6 sailing for Iceland's Majestic Landscapes noticed that the included excursion, "Panoramic Reykjavik" was not showing up at all in the Excursion list on our online " My Viking Journey" pages. Someone used the chat feature to reach out to Viking and got a PDF of all the excursion for our sailing and there were quite a few missing! Most of the missing ones were for Reykjavik. Also, an excursion was noticed to be missing from Seydisfjördur. If you are sailing with Viking this summer you might want to ask for them to email you the PDF of all available excursions for your trip. Then compare them to what you can see online. If there is one that is on the PDF, but not online, you should be able to book it by contacting Viking by phone or by using the chat feature. Chat feature bonus... you don't have to listen to that hold music! (We booked this cruise in 2018 and after almost 4 years I'm a little tired of that song!) Also... be aware that if you call to sign up for a "hidden excursion" to cancel it you have to call (or chat) Viking directly because you can not access it online. It does, however, show up on your calendar. (Now that I'm thinking... maybe you could cancel it from there. I don't know for sure.) I am attaching a PDF that was current the morning on May 13 for the July 6 sailing of Iceland's Majestic Landscapes. So you know what one looks like. You should get a current version for your sailing. Hope this helps other sailors! All shall be well. All shall be well. All manner of things shall be well. ~ Julian of Norwich MAY13_ShoreExcursions.pdf
