  1. Pre-Covid and once post-Covid I had Salad Nicoise but I can't recall if it was an MDR item or on the buffet. Does anyone have any memory of seeing it and where it was served? Any insights are appreciated. Thanks!
  2. I would vote for going on your own also. It is very accessible. We ordered a sampler which featured king crab legs and several other items. Everything was great and the staff was really superb. Enjoy!
  3. I would ask if 750 or 950 days on a cruise ship is a reward in itself or does it need to be announced in a public venue to validate it? I can't see where these recognition programs are different than a ship within a ship program- it is a manifestation of resources dedicated to cruising. To rail against those who buy into special cabin/class options and get a host of amenities is rather at odds with lamenting your lack of audience to celebrate your milestone. If you need that recognition I can't say I understand it but I support your need and I am sorry for you that the chance might be taken away.
  4. I booked the Sanctuary because there were so many sea days which I love. There are the port calls and most excursions won't allow Sanctuary time after but for a great vacation both outbound and return I would definitely consider it. Enjoy your cruise!
  5. I am considering a day cruise in the Gulf. It is on the Evermore Cosmos ferry and goes to the three ports in about 11 hours. I am taking my mom and it looks fairly low impact but i was hoping there were some insights to be had here. I am looking at the VIP option in May 2023. Any information is greatly appreciated.
  6. hmm maybe an eggplant or a peach?
  7. I really enjoy the Sanctuary and have always been fortunate to reserve my space. That said there are a couple dynamics that can complicate booking space in the Sanctuary. One is when a cruise is sold as back to back or as a 14 day or longer. Those passengers can book at the beginning of their cruise for all the following segments. Another factor is the occasional promotion (often in England) that allows cruisers to book their passage, their flights, hotel stays, transfers, and the Sanctuary as part of one package. Years ago those passengers represented about 60% of occupants which made it hard for others to book. I wish you the best and hope you enjoy your time there.
  8. I might not have a chance to get Turkish Lira before my port calls. What has been the experience of using dollars or euros? I will of course have credit cards but i thought a little folding money would be handy. Thanks for your insights.

so many dinners...how you speak to my bear soul!
  10. i have taken my nephew and nieces to the Crown Grill since they were as young as 5 and never had an issue. The staff seemed to enjoy them as much as the kids liked being so "fancy and grown up". I hope you all have a great time!
  11. I love Ribena, I hope you're able to find it. I used to be able to buy it at Marks & Spencer in Windsor ON across the river. I like a shot of it in some Vernor's. It would be great for cider as well!
  12. I for one should have known better...this isn't a Carnival board.😁
  13. oh..this is about blackjack!😉
  14. OMG are mints back?!?! Say it's so! LOL
  15. Can you imagine their Pride parade? A thousand marching ladies with a thousand straggling husbands following carrying the shopping bags!

Any port in a storm baby!
  17. Richard, it is such a dangerous precedent for my opinion to be valid. My fear is that you will make it difficult for all those down the road... On a more sincere note you seem to be the model of dignity and grace. People would be drawn to you and be left better for it. Regards, Chad

before I make any decisions...would there be dinner before any said rubbing? I just want to know the parameters. 😉
  19. There is one...Human. I like FOD for its retro sensibility. As I mentioned before; men who were strong courageous individuals fought battles and cleared a path for me. In moments of levity they were happy to be FOD. I respect them and that decision. They made it possible to for me to be just a guy. Not a gay guy, not queer, not LBGTQ. Just a guy. I will come down off my soap box now.
  20. I have not sailed the Discovery but last year on the Majestic lobster rolls were offered for an additional charge ($12 I think). They were very good and worth the extra cost. I favored getting mixed greens from the buffet and just putting the lobster salad on those and it was awesome. i look forward to them again when they are offered on any of my upcoming bookings.
  21. I think that is a fantastic offer and what a nice opportunity. I was lucky to travel with my parents and my grandparents while growing up and I do think it made me very comfortable in a variety of situations. I look forward to seeing more young people on these ships. They give a sense of excitement and it is wonderful to see the world; but through their eyes.
  22. You must do this cruise! How often can we take something off our bucket list? There will be all sorts of fellow Pax on the ship. For the most they will be interesting, smart, funny and kind. Nobody can or should make you feel inferior. That's not a Princess vibe. Rather, most will be thrilled you are able to take a trip of a lifetime with a line beloved by them. Trust me, they will be cheering you on. In terms of going out of your comfort zone to meet people I think it would be easy for you. If you have a chance to look at the posted copies of the Princess patter here you will find all sorts of meetings and events to mingle in a low key way. There are knitting groups, book groups, Bible study, crafting classes etc. The demonstrations and games in the Piazza are also great opportunities. It's ok to be a little reserved but it might be fun venture out of your comfort zone. Maybe don't enter the limbo contest this time but do go to a Polynesian Dance class or a lecture. All those other passengers are looking forward to meeting you.
  23. I will remain loyal to Princess. I have had 3 post Covid cruises and all went really well. I like the medallion App. I understand the necessary changes due to Covid and the necessary changes resulting from ships sailing at fractional pax capacity. I don't view these changes as lasting. They are reflective of market conditions and I think eventually market competition will drive a roll back/re-set of services, entertainment etc.A major reason for my loyalty is crew and staff at Princess who have always been exceptional. The primary reason is my regard for my fellow passengers. I have found the passengers smart, funny, kind, caring and entirely the sort of people with whom you would want to spend a week. If they all left en masse for another line I guess I might follow but for now I am very happy.
  24. I don't consider myself young at all. I have worked with the public for 46 years. I started bagging groceries and gathering carts at my family grocery store. I do remember when businesses worked. They still do. For you to see that problems are the norm says more about you than the current situation. I feel for you. The value of the medallion for me is in the expedited boarding process. it is in the ability to keep tabs on travelling companions while on board. it is in the ordering and delivery processes while on board. Is the app perfect every time. I assume not. But has it worked for me? Yes-always. Perhaps the value for you will be in the dynamic that I and others can successfully navigate the app and it frees up crew to help you with everything you might need. That would maintain value for me, the crew and add it for you. The world is a wonderful place and problems don't need to be the norm.
