Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. How many days will Regent allow you to fly in early and fly out at a later date without paying a deviation fee if you are not booking concierge level?
  2. I keep seeing the term "upcharge" used. Is there a difference between an upcharge and a deviation fee? We are starting to plan a Mediterranean cruise for Spring 2025 with an older couple with mobility issues. After my last experience with Regent flights, I'm concerned about the flight options that will be available. We will need to avoid multiple stops with tight connections. They would also like to arrive at the port city a day or 2 early and depart a day or two after debarkation. I'm trying to understand what constitutes and upcharge vs a deviation and the ramifications of either. I know if you deviate you loose the transfers but what about if it's considered an "upcharge"? I hope this makes sense. This will be their first Regent cruise and I want to make sure it's a good experience. Any insight or advice is appreciated.
  3. Thanks, I'm assuming they are larger that a standard (US) Queen but smaller than a king (US).
  4. Does anyone know the exact size of the European Queen bed in the Veranda Suites? I googled European Queen bed size and came up with several different answers. Thanks!
  5. I have to agree about the website. We took a Royal Caribbean cruise for a family reunion and I was very impressed with their app. It was a joy to use and very helpful onboard. I hope Regent is working towards something similar.
  6. I would add that there are plenty of lounge chairs not directly by the pool. I usually choose these If I want to sit and read a book. They are quieter. With some strategic planning, you will be fine. Enjoy your cruise!
  7. I just got off the Allure. I would NOT recommend open dining. There were huge lines for dinner.
  8. Just got back yesterday from sailing the ALLURE out of Galveston. Arrival was a disaster. The lines were wrapped around the building in both directions. We had a handicapped person with us so we were able to skip the line. The elevators were often packed. It was very difficult to find space several times. Norovirus was going around the ship. The food was spotty. The staff was great. Not the best experience.
  9. I cut Scopolamine patches in quarters all the time. My dr suggested it and it works like a charm. I never sail without them.
  10. My husband and I have been to Rome on enough trips that we have seen all the must see attractions. We will flying into Rome for 1 1/2 days (end of April) before our cruise out of Civitavecchia. Is there an area or hotel that is maybe off the beaten path or a hidden gem we should try? We would even consider going farther afield if it's on on the way to the port. Since we are landing very early in the morning, the plan is to book the hotel for the night before so we have a place to crash as soon as we get to town. Thanks for any advice.
  11. Do the Business class tickets through Regent get you access to the airline's Club/Lounge? Regent is wanting us to book on Delta with a long layover. We have an AA Admirals Club membership but not a Delta Club membership. The clubs are in different terminals. Thanks.
  12. We are also booked at the Divani Caravel Hotel for a post cruise night through Regent. You can view traveler's photos on Trip Advisor. I'm not seeing any that look like the photo you posted. While this wouldn't be my first choice of hotels (and not to what I would consider up to Regent standards), we will only be there for one night so not a huge issue for us.
  13. Hi, This is my first time on Splendor. I have sailed on Voyager, Deluxe Veranda Suite, category F, deck 7 and was happy. I am now looking at booking a Mediterranean cruise next spring. I'm trying to decide between: Deluxe Veranda G1 - deck 6 rms 678 - 83. Plus is it has a large balcony. Minus is it's close to the fitness center. I'm concerned abut the noise. Deluxe Veranda G2 - deck rms 619 - 41. Plus is it is mid to front of ship. Minus is the smaller balcony I'm disappointed that the Deluxe Veranda suites on Splendor are Queens. We had a King on Voyage. Do we splurge for a a Superior Suite (F2) which gets us the king and a larger room? It also moves us up to deck 7-9. Any thoughts and experiences welcome.
  14. I'm looking at booking a Mediterranean cruise for next April (Deluxe Veranda). Should I book now or wait to see if they have a better offer in the fall? I am tempted to wait but am concerned that inflation will drive the prices up instead of down. Thanks for any advise.
