  1. were all three appropriate for 10-11 yo children, please? Excellent review, by the way, thank you!
  2. oh, so you weren't actually eating the food - just looking at the pics? The food presentation was good on our Getaway cruise, but the food itself was mostly inedible. I'll take RCI's MDR food over NCL's any time.
  3. did I mention that my mom who is 71 is in better physical shape than I am at 48? However, my dad can barely walk at 74. Some of our Princess excursions' limits are set for between 12 and 65. That would exclude our 11 yo who is a size of a smallish adult male. But do you see me stomping my foot in frustration? No, we can do these same excursions by ourselves - walk up to the water fall and drive through a botanical garden - and it will cost us a lot less and we won't be packed like sardines on an excursion bus.
  4. so am I. Since the cruise planner populated with excursions and other things, it's always been the same price - $133 for the water park. We are 60 days out. Last year it stayed at $99 all the way until 2 days before the cruise when it dropped to $78.
  5. $133 pp was there from the very beginning for my cruise.
  6. i thought it was minutes. Granted I was only looking at the "on location time" parts.
  7. I thought your name was cruise2relax. We cruise to disconnect from the rat race... to forget about it all. 🙂 other than that - yeap, in this day and age we definitely expect more from the onboard internet. But we don't buy it anyway. Have you noticed any crew from Ukraine? Did people have to disembark and leave or could they stay onboard for the full duration of the cruise they paid for? Thank you for a wonderful review! Can't wait to be on Enchanted in November!
  8. how pregnant or how old will be baby#2 when you are going to cruise? I am sure mom will have it under control and she will know what her time limits are.
  9. 8 days with an 11 yo. RCI's Allure. 7 days last year on RCI's Harmony. We are doing 10 days in a couple of months. He is still 11. Enchanted Princess. We usually go on 7 day cruises, especially if the cruising falls on a one week long school break. I don't think my kid would mind a longer cruise at all. But my stomach would mind, since we all eat like crazy when we cruise. We sailed on a 10 day cruise when he was 7, but the ship broke down on day 3, so it doesn't count.
  10. hippo turns out, I wasn't getting the bid emails because in both my profile on Princess.com and in the personalizer I had email communications turned off. I turned them on yesterday, after somebody advised me to do so, and bam - I got the invite to bid right away. Many people on our roll call have been getting them for quite some time now, since our final payment was back in August. We are in an inside on Thanksgiving cruise, and our bids started at $150 for a standard obstructed balcony. Funny, because this category is sold out... I bid anyway. Can't hurt, can it?
  11. it's been like that for a while now and it will remain so. We wore masks the entire time on our June RCI cruise (unless sitting and eating at mdr or buffet), but other passengers didn't. We both got covid. Lots of people were coughing and sneezing like crazy...
  12. just to let you know - it worked like a charm and I received the bid offers and even made one, since it was reasonable. I don't think it'll be accepted, because they don't have this type of a cabin available anymore, so why do they even offer it... 🙂
  13. Thanks, I do know about the onboard "internet center", however, it's not free, so the difference in the beverage package price I am hoping for would be cancelled out by the internet charges. It's not a big difference, so it's not worth trying to use the for-fee internet on a ship. Using free wifi somewhere at a port makes much more sense in my particular case, so that's what I am going to aim for.
  14. we'll be in Dominica for the first time in November. We usually like beaches, suitable for an 11 yo kid. Any recommendations? If beaches are not recommended, what other things can we do? I am only now starting to research, so I'll be reading a lot of this subforum, but it does look like most of the info is prepandemic, of course.
  15. not sure what you need help with. If the mom is pumping at home, she'll just pump on the ship, leave the milk with the grandparents and go offshore for 3-4 hours. However many hours she can handle without pumping/breastfeeding. Or, you know, mom could bring her baby with her and breastfeed directly. It's only natural. Most of the time you are no longer required to book excursions through the ship. I could handle about 4 hours between pumping sessions, so when my supposedly 4 hour ship excursion lasted 6 hours, I was in hell pain wise. I pumped and dumped on the cruise, because we left our 9 month old home with the grandparents. I pumped right before the excursion and then right after. P.S. Kid's mom can do whatever she wants, but by 1.5 yo she may not even be breastfeeding anymore or breastfeeding only at night or as a soothing measure. I sure used my cruise time to wean DS.
  16. the catch is - we are gonna be on a Princess ship. Not sure they'd be able or willing to help us buy a beverage package on an RCI ship. 🙂
  17. last year it was definitely a couple of days thing, because we were actually on Harmony on Black Friday, so I scored this deal on Cyber Monday after we came back.
  18. is it under "My preferences?" on the app? I've put a check mark by email just now. Also put a check mark in the profile on princess.com. Just in case. 🙂
  19. I haven't seen Princess Plus for more than $50 pppd. When I booked my cruise, it was $40 pppd.
  20. we are sailing in 70 days, we don't have Princess Plus, yet we haven't received a single email about upgrading - either cabins or Princess Plus... I am starting to suspect something is afoot. We booked directly with Princess, but used their TA for the first time.
  21. The Breezy Bay part of the Chill Island is lovely. Soft sand, still water. is that where your beach bed is?
  22. nope, at sea. 🙂 We only need a soda package, so it's not saving us THAT much money. Would be nice, though.
  23. last Black Friday I scored a great price on the soda package, but this Black Friday AND Mon-Tue we are still going to be on a cruise.... without internet. 😞
