  1. Furbaby, you will have a great cruise because of your amazing attitude and also because you are sailing on a beautiful Celebrity ship. We sailed on her from Southampton in Nov. and enjoyed every minute. Don't miss the glass show. I second the Perry Grant show but he might not be your cup of tea. I hope he is and that he is on the ship when you sail.

I am sorry for all the bad weather you are having in England.

  2. Eating venues that are included on celebrity are:

    MDR

    Buffet

Poolside grill (great hamburgers and fries, hot dogs)

Aqua Spa cafe (lighter fare but also very good, available at breakfast and lunch).

    Room service

If you want to skip the MDR at night, there is a limited selection at the buffet....sushi, made to order pasta, pizza, stir fry, sometimes Indian food. I'm not really sure of all that is there as we rarely eat there at night.

I'm sure you will enjoy Celebrity and I do wish I was only 40!!

  3. We did this in Oct 2010 on Summit, beginning with a few days in New York and sailing Bayonne to San Juan. It was a great cruise and we loved Bermuda. We did the following 7 day (SJ to SJ) as well.

  4. Welcome to cruise critic and the world of cruising. You sound like a wonderful and humorous person to cruise with. Most of the people on here are very friendly and many give great advice. I have learned a lot on CC but do be warned, it is addictive!!

As has been said AQ class has its own restaurant called Blu where you dine at breakfast and dinner. You also get 2 bottles of water in your SR/day and a flask of herbal tea with apertifs (which are not all that great).

SV is quite popular because it is mesmerizing to sit on your deck and see the wake. The SV decks are much bigger on the M class of ships but not on S class which you are considering.

    Enjoy your cruise.

  5. We were in Aqua class for the 2nd and 3rd segments of this cruise. There was no other word to describe it but fantastic. The lobster on formal night was the best lobster I have ever had on a cruise ship and that includes a few times in Murano.

Our room stewards were also the best we have ever had. Laurencino (sp) was the helper and I forget the other guys name, sorry. We were in 1136 and 1130 for the Alaska portion.

We ate in the Mdr on the first segment and we did have some issues. DH's onion soup was not hot enough so he told them. Otherwise, we found the food quite good. Service too.

Yes, the ship is soon to be the oldest in the fleet after Century goes but she is well maintained and hopefully the pod problems will be gone now for a good while.

  6. This itinerary is different from the April 2013 crossing we sailed on, in that it bypasses the Alaska ports. We went from Shanghai to Seward and Seward to Vancouver (two cruises). Jeju Island is beautiful. We were able to see it on the Hong Kong to Shanghai segment and were supposed to go again on the next segment but it was too windy for the ship to dock. We loved Kobe. Actually Japan is wonderful wherever you go. Petropavlovsk didn't impress us. Unless things have changed, you have to go on a ship sponsored tour to get off the ship there. The sea days were wonderful.. We thought Blu (Aqua class) was better than the S class ships. Great food and service. Go for it and enjoy every minute.

  7. DW and I will be crossing the pacific ocean north bound from Hawaii to Vancouver, BC in early May. I'm not sure what to expect weather wise, (how cold), and how heavy the seas can get that time of year.

I'm sure there are a lot of you experienced cruisers out there that can help us better prepare for the 5 sea "daze" aboard Solstice coming home to the mainland.

    Thanks!

    Jack and Jill

There is quite a large roll call for this cruise at:

Vancouver can be coolish and wet in May, but as has been said, you just can't predict the weather. I would pack an umbrella if you plan on a few days here post cruise, just in case. On the other hand, it has been as high as 12C (53.6F) here this January and we set a record of 15 days without rain. No snow at all so far this year. Weather seems weird in many places. Enjoy your cruise.

  8. On sea days on Eclipse TA it was twice/day. Kept us hopping! I think it was around 10 in the morning and maybe 2 or 3 in the aft. How soon we forget! The instructor was Ron but I think he was getting off when we did, for a while. Hopefully he will be back for your cruise. He was very good. It was held in the sky lounge but was moved out to the pool as the weather got warmer. It was really too hot out there so they moved it back inside.

We had a few rough days and it was a bit scary trying to keep our balance, but no one fell.

It will be listed in the daily.

  9. If you're booking excursions online with your reservation the prices are quoted in Canadian dollars not U.S. as long as you booked your cruise in Ca. $. When you sign in to Celebrity it automatically quotes Canadian for everything you purchase. I can't get anything quoted in U.S. $ with my upcoming reservation.

I doubt that Celebrity will accept Canadian $ at par, but if so please let us know!

The Celebrity page automatically quotes in Cdn $ if your URL is a Canadian address. If you want to see what the US price is, scroll down to the bottom of the page that has the 123 Go ad and "Find a cruise" and you will find a heading "country" If you have a Cdn address, it will say Canada. You can change it to United States and then you will get USD rates. However, you will have to do that every time you want the USD rate. This is for general pricing. However, if you have already booked in Cdn $, I'm not sure how you go about getting prices for that cruise in USD.

  10. My cruise sails in just over 3 months. When I check My Celebrity it says I have no reservations.. I have already paid in full. I wouldn't like to be the person who tries to keep me off that ship! Celebrity's IT dept is nothing short of a complete disgrace and has been for a long time no matter what we all say.

  11. I'm sure you know that 7003 is a huge cabin with a large sitting area (sofa and 2 chairs). We had the mirror image once and thought it was nicer than many balcony cabins we have had. However, it's nice to have a balcony too esp if the sailing is in the Caribbean.
  12. Actually I spent a lot of time in the room because I was sick with Bronchitis and I really didn't hear the door bang that often. I guess one thing to take into consideration is, ours was the sailing from Shanghai to Seward in April and it was quite cold/windy so maybe not a lot of people using those stairs on that sailing. The room stewards we had were the best we have had on 20 cruises. I don't think you would hear the door bang if you were out on the balcony. We didn't smell any food, not many eating outside though.
