  1. We were in 1136 (same cabin only starboard side) on our Asia trip and it was great. Very quiet and the best room stewards we have ever had on any cruise. I don't know if they work on the other side. I do know they also did the aft cabins on that deck as we moved to 1130 for the following segment and still had them.

  2. Haven't seen this in a while since we have been dining in Blu but I do think people who do a good job need to be commended.

Have never seen food go ice cold at room temperature. I agree cold food is not pleasant when it's supposed to be hot, but it can be sent back.

  3. We love Celebrity too and since Seattle to Hawaii return is not possible why not use Vancouver? For the April sailing from Honolulu Solstice will be modified to fit under the Lions Gate Bridge to dock in Vancouver.

  4. We are set to sail in about a month and are booked for Aqua Class. There are talks if eating in Blu instead of the MDR.

When is the best time to call so you can get a good seat? Does it have to be the day before?

    Thoughts on Blu vs MDR??

They don't do reservations in Blu. The best way to "reserve" your seat is to go early.

We find the MDR pretty good but Blu is wonderful. We do love the breakfast too. It closes at 9:30 AM.

  5. I always thought the canopies were too small to protect me from the afternoon setting sun.I hope these are larger.

Sorry, the pita chips we got were so soggy they wouldn't really have protected you from the sun as they wouldn't stand up. OTOH the sun might have dried them out a bit.:D

I don't complain about much but these were disgusting and they came like that several times. We liked the shrimp and the olives.

  6. I am surprised that people think this illness is found only on ships. We have had it only once and got it in a hotel where seminars were being held. Unfortunately DH was one of the speakers. Yes, I agree it is terrible and very contagious.

I hope you get well soon Kitty and that you are pleased about the 20# loss. Terrible way to do it though

  7. Congratulations on your upgrade and happy cruising. Is this a 7 day cruise? If so, why would you book a 5 day speciality dining pkg when you are eating in Blu? On a recent cruise when we boarded we found an invitation to dine in a speciality restaurant for 50% off the first night. It was offered to all AQ people. Later in the cruise we were eating at Aqua Spa cafe one day when they were offering 30% off Sp dining.

  8. We will be sailing on her next month. So I am so excited to read everything and anything about the ship!

I am curious ..... Who is the cruise director?

    How is the entertainment?

    Thanks fellow cruisers!

CD: We had Sue Denning but she has gone on vacation.

Graeme Kelleher is the Captains club host and he's great.

We didn't go to all the shows, but we really enjoyed all those that we went to. Singers and dancers seemed good to us and they are fairly new to the ship.

You are sure to have a great time.

  9. Pork doesn't work so well for a vegetarian? :o

(There are a lot of choices in the buffet if you eat meat but not so much for me. That's why I loved the Cafe so much. Oh well........)

Yes being vegetarian is a bit more limiting but I was just talking about the hot entrees. They still have the 3 different cold plates laid out and I think one or two of them is often vegetarian. You would know. Then they still have the salad bar. There is also a smoothie bar with some very good looking smoothies but there is a charge for those ($6 if I recall). I hadn't seen those before.

  10. Yup, a permanent marker. I really think some of the crew on those sailings were on drugs. Luckily this was just a cotton shirt. I would never send anything really expensive to the laundry. I always have good clothes dry cleaned on the ship. I was hoping for a few more dry cleaning coupons with Elite+, but alas, not to be.

Mine was a marker that bled through also but I got it out when I came home, thank goodness. On Eclipse a few weeks ago it said no laundry on the final 3 days of the cruise.

I have put the two coupons for free pressing in with the laundry and its coupon with instructions on which 2 garments I wanted pressed. It has worked well twice.

  11. That's the one. I've been very open with them about why I won't book with them or recommend them again unless it's a terrific, them only, offer.

We use these guys too and while we have never had to cancel a cruise, we have been bitten by the decrease in OBC when we applied for a price drop. Maybe we need to find a new Travel agent. We have been happy with them though.

  12. WOW! I am overwhelmed. I got home from work, and I see all of this. Y'all are bringing a tear to an old guy's eyes, on his birthday. :)

Happy Birthday Texed. We will always be able to remember it since yesterday was the 50th anniversary of our first date. It was a Friday too. We went to the same restaurant and when we told the server, she got the manager and they comped the meal. Nice touch.

We hope to meet you some day.

  13. Can you still get fresh grilled tuna or salmon at the Aqua Spa Cafe at lunch?

No, the lovely big pieces of grilled salmon and tuna are gone. They have been replaced with a small piece of salmon (end piece) with a sauce on top. It was quite good but small. There was a spicy pork stir fry served in a lettuce leaf that I thought was delicious. I only ate there twice so I don't know if there are other things. It's still a good place to go for a light lunch. And....you could have two hot entrees!!

  14. has anyone cruised the eclipse lately?? how did you enjoy it? Was the food and entertainment good? Are there any sports on board? It would be especially helpful if you could tell me how the lounge chairs are , especially outdoors in a quiet area as I have MS and comfort is sooo important. thanks

Take a look at this amazing post

    http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1751328 and

look for Host Andy's review in the next little while.

We were on the ship 3 weeks ago and loved our cruise. You have to try Qsine.

We don't use the lounge chairs much so I can't really help you with that. There are some on the top deck that are pretty quiet.

We liked the food and the entertainment (didn't go to everything) but those two areas are pretty subjective.
